George Caulkin Along With Sky Sports Confirm Rafa To Be Next Coach Of Dalian Yifang

Sky Sports has just confirmed earlier reports that Rafa Benitez will in fact take the job as manager of Dalian Yifang in the Chinese Super League.

Here is a tweet they have just sent out:

This information also has been confirmed in an interview by George Caulkin in the Times.

Here is his tweet with a link to the interview:

Here is another tweet confirming that Rafa is in fact in China right now signing for Dalian Yifang.

We are happy that Rafa will have an opportunity to coach in China though we feel that it is a tragedy in that he will not be coaching at the top level and also for Newcastle that they have lost out on a great coach.

He will join ex-Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik who is currently with the Chinese club.

    Good luck Rafa

Beat manager under Ashley by a country mile.

It was a pleasure, you’re a true gent and deserve success in all you do, I thank you for everything you did whilst at Nufc.

Sad loss for Nufc, great for the Chinese league.

Scary to think how quick deals would of been done if it was just left up to rafa.
Thats how you negotiate a contract. Done and dusted fast.
Best of luck puts one of the conspiracy theories to bed that hes coming back under new owners.

I see the digs about Rafa being disloyal have started straight away on twitter. Mostly from them doon the road, but rather disappointingly from some toon fans as well. He wasn’t offered a chance to make something happen here, so why shouldn’t he go and top off his retirement fund in China. I’m bloody sure I would.

Fancy taking a job that pays almost as much as you’ve been allowed to spend on new players.

Best of luck Gaffer. I am gutted and will now have to retire my Rafa figure from my desk top at work………..

ToonArmyMidlands – not sure chief; I did see one of the satisfaction of charge docs was for non-tangible assets. The charge would refer to any trademarks or other goodwill as part of the boilerplate wording. As I said, these companies are empty shells with nothing in them, be that assets or liabilities.

The way the club’s structured is you have St James Holdings Limited at the top, which is owns Newcastle United Limited (which is an umbrella company), which in turn owns Newcastle United Football Company Limited (where the players and other assets are held), amongst quite a few others.

The slug loaned money to St James Holdings Limited, which in turn loaned it to Newcastle United Limited and has similar security over its assets – https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/02529667/charges.

The way the takeover would likely work is St James Holdings Limited sells its shares in Newcastle United Limited to Monochrome Acquisition Limited, with no need to reassign the trademarks as it would still sit in the same subsidiary, regardless of the owner at the top.

This also means that some of the sale price could be treated as a repayment of the debt owed to Ashley, and therefore minimise the tax payable if he’s selling it for a profit.

Here’s a link to all the registered trademarks of NUFC – they’re all owned by Newcastle United Football Company Limited, which is a subsidiary of Newcastle United Limited – https://trademarks.ipo.gov.uk/ipo-tmowner/page/search?id=193202&domain=1

    Oldgit1, thanks matey. Appreciate that.

I think it all now rests on how keen BZG actually are to take the club. Heads of terms agreed ages ago. They need to make a decision now. Get it done and save the club.

I don’t doubt that. I’d suggest they were working on it as soon as talks broke down last week. But there are definetly people suggesting Rafa has played the fans, as tragic as that is. I think most right-minded people know better.

Maybe the only positive we can take from this is he’s been told by BZG that they don’t want him, which would kinda mean that they are now the new owners now, that’s why he’s not hanging around but that would mean fat arse was telling the truth.Clutching at straws here.

It simplifies things slightly. Didn’t Justin Allen of The Sun say BZG wanted Rafa. Then someone else said Ashley fired (contructively) at the behest of BZG. Dubai Micky says will be movement on the sale by the end of the week.

Meanwhile, I am completely confused. What’s new you say?

Can we buy and sell players or not? Does anybody know? Who makes the decisions? Has to be Nixon, right? Are we still chasing Rafa’s targets? Are we starting from scratch, or close, with Nixon’s list? Barnes is there to negotiate the sale so that only leaves Charnley to work on players and a new manager. Talk about a bare bones operation. Same on the coaching side.

Jesus, we are in a mess. And no, I didn’t JUST realise that. Everything is unravelling and that is usually when you get relegated. We need this sorted soon, especially if there are mass protests because that will lead to more disarray and probably Fatty doing what he normally does in these circumstances which is to ignore it.

    Bobbybee, hope you don’t mind reposting this;

Whilst I’m being hated, let’s say what many are thinking but haven’t got the balls to say.
If you think Rafa hadn’t arranged that until yesterday, you’re delusional. He’s a political animal and he was the one who said “I can’t see any way to take this further”, days before his contract ran down.
Not saying Ashley isn’t to blame, because he is. His intransigence left Rafa with no choice, but that contract has been on the table for a long time. If he couldn’t take it further, he could’ve said so a long time ago. And don’t deny you’re not thinking it, it’s black and white. So I’ve said it. Maybe that’s his final shot at Ashley, fair enough, but it’s left us and a loyal fan base with little time to sort a replacement.

I said on here a few times that as MA had clearly issued Rafa with a take it or leave it contract weeks ago that the only reason why he wasn’t signing, or leaving, was because BZG had assured him he would be the manager in a takeover.

I didn’t believe Rafa was the type of person to just string it along and let his contract run down.

Looks like I was wrong as he must have been aware of the £12M on the table for a good while and has probably used that to issue his own ‘take it or leave it’ offer to MA who has decided to leave it and pull the plug..

I don’t blame Rafa one bit, and I’m not criticising him nor do I feel any the less respect for him or the job he has done.

It just shows though, that when push comes to shove very very few people in life can ignore the lure of big bucks.

    Money talks.

No matter sale or no sale, it is so low that there is no statement from the people in charge of this BIG football club..

Its not like this is a small candystore on the corner, we are talking about..

Its the 25th richest club on the planet!!

Bills son, don’t mind at all mate. Clearly money does talk. Like I say, it may have been his parting shot at Ashley and who can blame him? It’s dropped Ashley right in it, but it’s not helped has it? One of those things. Can’t blame Rafa, but I am slightly disappointed. Part of me says “well done Rafa”. The other part says we’re gonna struggle to get the right replacement in time, which of course leaves Ashley less time to sell the club.

This is still the crucial week, no takeover and the only way we get a Gerrard or Arteta type in is if we give them a 3 year deal and guarantee either a} no new owners are coming in soon who might boot them out for their own choice or b} MA guarantees to pay their contract up in full if that happens.

We have to get a takeover or a new manager asap or the transfer window in and out is going to pass us by.

Everyone knew including Ashley and the fans that if Rafa didn’t see the club changing it’s ways and look to progress on and off the pitch he wouldn’t sign a contract.

How long has he talked about the clubs ambition and what its direction would be for the future.

Anyone claiming Rafa has led the fans on etc is talking utter shite, you must have been living on the moon or had your head up your arse to not realise Rafa wasnt going to sign another contract to have his hands tied by Ashley.

I think anyone suggesting Rafa has left us in a mess or in the lurch is a knob!

Think where the club would be if HE hadn’t approached Ashley, we’d be playing derbies in league one with them down the road.

You’re a embarrassment to lay any of the mess that is Nufc at Rafas door.
