OGC Nice are about to be bought by English billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and that should be very exciting for all associated with the Ligue 1 club.
That would also include their manager Patrick Vieira who has recently been linked with the open manager position after also being in strong contention in 2015.
Get French Football News have tweeted out the following comments from Patrick Vieira:
Patrick Vieira on departure rumours: “I am at OGC Nice long-term. I have no intention of going elsewhere. I’ve always felt good here & with the people around me. I can’t see myself anywhere other than OGC Nice.”
— Get French Football News (@GFFN) July 1, 2019
It seems that Patrick Vieira will not be leaving Nice for Newcastle. You will be hard pressed to find anyone who could blame him.
Last week after reports surfaced that he would be interested in talking with Newcastle, there was the caveat attached that he would be very concerned about working under Mike Ashley.
This will be a common theme in the manager search. As anyone with an ounce of ambition would not be too excited at the prospect of working under an owner where success on the pitch is an afterthought to selling products.

Best thing that can be said is that as part of due diligence many old charges come to light which have been paid off but not formally cancelled, so could be due to housekeeping in setting up club for sale

Comment #83Ashleys tactics to bamboozle the faithful.
Bullshit them. They lap up bullshit. Especially talk of a takeover.
Occasionally bullshit does not work.
Buy somebody.
That always works because the faithful think the club has turned a corner.
Almiron was a great bit of business for Big Mike. It totally took the wind out of the faithful’s growing anger just when Big Mike was worried he was losing control.
The reaction of the faithful to the purchase of Almiron has ultimately gone a long way to costing Rafa his job.
But never have a pop at the faithful. They have never done anything wrong in supporting the Toon. They have never missed a game since 1947 and nobody is ever going to tell them that they should not give their coin to Big Mike.
Big Mike is eternally grateful to the faithful. Without them he would be phooked and out the door.

Comment #93The paperwork filed at companies house looks like housekeeping to me – it’s the bank relinquishing their claims against the assets owned by that particular company which would have been given as part of some wider lending.
Newcastle United Enterprises Limited has been filing dormant accounts (i.e. when the company’s an empty shell) since 2015 and has had nothing worth mentioning on its balance sheet since 2010.
In all likelihood this is them updating the public record on a small subsidiary that’s just been forgotten about. It happens. Whether this is a bit of spring cleaning or actually getting affairs in order, only time will tell I guess.
P.S. there’s a few day’s delay between filing the docs at companies house and them even appearing on the website, so anything we see now will have been done a week or more ago.

Too many fans will go to games even if Ashley stayed on another 30 years.
You cannot beat that level of stupidity. The club is beyond help because of these supporters. Not for me though.

Comment #99I think we’ll get another Kinnear- someone desperate enough to be incredibly cheap, never complain and without contacts or gravitas to really attempt anything too ambitious on his own.
I’m serious, that’s how I think it’ll go. It’ll be a late appointment sometime in August so there’s not even time to really sort out any transfers.

Comment #100First – Rotunda, I am so sorry to hear about your loss, my condolences.
As I sit here with my dad not knowing if he will be here, next month or next week, I can commiserate. I do have a request for the other posters, just for today – let’s lay off slagging each other. Out of respect for Rotunda and Rafa’s departure – focus the discontent on Ashley, Charnley and B&B (Bishop and Barnes).
Tomorrow we can resume the bashing of views we don’t agree with.

Comment #103Ronaldo Aarons – no problem chief.
If I was being optimistic, this could be them making sure everything at Companies House reflects the actual financial/legal position ahead of a sale so they can comply with the seller’s warranties which would normally be in the sale agreement.
Alternatively, it’s just that one of their finance bods has had a spare moment in the last few weeks and been working through some niggling jobs that they’ve not had time to do.
I live in hope!

Comment #105Corporate Spring cleaning – would normally take place by or at the end of the Financial Year which is 31st March unless a company operated a different 12 month period – which in the case of NUFC ended 30th June.
Today is in effect the first working day of the existing company’s new trading year – what we need to hear and see is that it was also the last.

Comment #106Jim Ratcliffe owning NUFC whilst simultaneously developing a massive fracking operation across the North East would be my dream scenario (I actually have no idea if there are any shale gas reserves in the area, but there you go…). Jobs + trophies. Why the hell is buying Nice?

Comment #110Ashley preys on your loyalty.
His war is trying to make you feel disloyal for not supporting the team.
You are still a fan and you are supporting the club not the team. As people point out managers come and go? Well so do players and favourite years teams.
But the one that remains is newcastle united football club.
Support your club, boycott the slug.
