Reported Transfer Budget Of £50m Plus Player Sales Confirmed In George Caulkin Interview

In George Caulkin’s interview with Rafa Benitez, it was revealed the reported £50m plus players sales was accurate.

This is what Benitez told George Caulkin when the transfer budget was raised:

“I didn’t ask for any money. I just wanted to know how much [there was].

“The club put out some information about the budget being around million plus the money from sales and that was fine. I wasn’t complaining. I knew it was the reality.”

If Rafa had stayed, he could have also gotten an additional £40m in the likely sales of Isaac Hayden and Dwight Gayle. This would make for a very decent transfer budget.

From his comments, there does appear to be a tinge of disappointment with that budget, though it is by far and away the most he would have had to spend while at Newcastle. However, it is still dwarfed by modern-day Premier League spending and is an amount that Newcastle could have easily afforded to at least double.

The transfer budget as we all know is not why Rafa Benitez is no longer at Newcastle United.

It remains to be seen if this same transfer budget will be sanctioned for the new manager. If it is and it also includes player sales, he could have a transfer kitty nearing £150m with the amount of player outgoings these recent events could ignite.

This summer could be very different from the normal in regards to transfers. Mike Ashley will have to give the new manager money to spend or will be risking an even greater chance of relegation than currently exists.

The likely outcome is that there is more money than usual to spend this summer, but precious few players willing to join the Ashley circus.

Yorky, the request was made because I do not believe that you are a Toon fan. This blog is for Toon fans. If you want to discuss football matters go your Mackem blog or wherever. The perspective we have on here is reasonably well balanced, so off you go.

Lads ave just got to say one thing like.
All you young uns need to fight for your club like.
    Hardly any turned up.
The chronicle havnt put it up but the fan zones with screens and pubs doing discounts for ticket holders to have a pint got alot of backing and pritty much everyone agreed that the pubs should get involved to help people stay away and that the fan zones should be set up.
Also they are going to organise a march on charnleys house.
    Details will be passed on.

What a very bleak and depressing time to be a Newcastle United supporter, we have just lost a world class manager in Rafa, his only crime was he had ambition and wanted to take the club in the right direction, also we know the so called take over is pure pie in the sky, all sheer speculation, Ashley will complete the hattrick and take us back to the championship for the third time, as Albert Einstein once said insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results, now you know why Kevin Keegan once said you could put on a postage stamp what the people running Newcastle know about football, i rest my case. Heard Ed Woodford bought Ashley and Charnley a couple of curries in north London a couple of nights ago as a sweetener to get Sean Longstaff. Why are all the rumours about him going to Man Utd still appearing if we are to be sold any day now? If Ashley sells Longstaff to Utd it’s a clear sign he ain’t going anywhere. What potential new buyer would want their new teams best prospect (since Gazza) sold before they takeover.

The general jist of things i got aswell was to have a voice everyone of us should sign up to the nust.
All the different groups in my mind should band together under the nust.
That way we all have a voice.
A quid gives u a vote per season.
    10 quid for lifetime membership.
Its important in my opinion we support the nust.

    Rafa motivated by greed lol
Some people have rocks between there ears

I am sad to see Raffa leave and I know nowt about his new club
But if he spends a couple of years there
He will leave a legacy behind

If memory serves me I think they are going to stop or limit the number of non Asian players soon
So I would say raffa has a project because when he leaves they will have a proper scouting network top academy and training

And the chance to work in a different country and culture good luck to him
Any chance his new club plays in black and white

Its why the Chinese super league was created.
They want to host the world cup before 2050.
No doubt they’ve seen rafas work at the toon and think hes the man to train there national stars.

Do Charnley and Ashlie not have families whom don’t deserve this? I’m all for protesting, but thats just crossing a line to me? Remember when Andy Carroll hit his Ex, and he famously had to stay with Kevin Nolan? Some idiots set his car on fire. On average 1 in 10 people are stupid. SJP’s average crowd size? That leaves a lot of moron that could potentially get involved in this. Not on my conscience thank you.
