Report – Solskjaer Prefers Longstaff To Christian Eriksen And Bruno Fernandes

The Sun are reporting, in what will likely be disheartening to both Manchester and Newcastle United fans, that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prefers Sean Longstaff to higher priced targets Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes.

This story seems a bit like a continuation of an earlier story in the Sun from yesterday. That story detailed that Solskjaer wanted Sean Longstaff in before the team leaves for their pre-season tour on July 8th. It also stated that a bid of £20m plus add-ons and a five year deal for Sean at £75k/week was soon to be offered.

This recent news is likely to draw the ire of coddled Manchester United fans who would prefer the flashier names from Tottenham and Sporting CP.

The Sun also are reporting based on news in Italy that Manchester United and Sporting CP midfielder Bruno Fernandes have agreed on personal terms. Though at the moment the two clubs are far apart on agreeing a transfer fee with Manchester United believed to have already bid £31m. Sporting Lisbon are said to be unwilling to sell for less than £31m.

Sean Longstaff– local lad with massive potential

We hope that Sean Longstaff waits until a new manager is signed before deciding on his future. While he will be gutted to see Rafa Benitez leave and move to Dalian Yifang, Newcastle may be able to right this ship by appointing a young manager who can bring an exciting style of football to the club.

There is also the hope that the pending takeover shows some form of solidity this week. With the Shields Gazette reports of a BZG statement having been drafted, we really need some information on whether this will happen or not.

However, we still have our fears that neither of these outcomes come to fruition. We will still be under the thumb of Mike Ashley and our next manager will be a dinosaur.

In that case, we would have to pin our hopes that Sean decides to stay at Newcastle due to his love of the club and the higher likelihood of first team games.

I really don’t get it. Longstaff has only played 9 times for the first team. How can he all of a sudden be in such high demand!? Yes he did play really well for us but for Man Ure to hold him in such high regard is baffling. He has yet to play a full season in the Premier League and is already wanted in a £25m move to them!? Makes no sense tbh. I would understand after a season, but all this transfer talk is rather premature. Don’t get me wrong I think Longstaff is a great player in the making and will demand a fee like that soon but now is surely too soon, 1- for that sort of transfer for that money and 2- for him as he will probably improve his game faster playing for us.

I really don’t want him sold even if we do get new ambitious owners I would like him to stay and become a great at Newcastle not anywhere else.

On one hand I don’t see why Sean would move there at this time in his career. As a former giant trying to reclaim its throne the pressure to perform at a high level is extreme. If you don’t fit in or impress you’re gone and forgotten after a year and they’re moving onto the next shiny toy.

On the other hand moving to a team that has atleast some plan and momentum is far better than what we have seen here in a long time. Also you couldn’t blame him for a massive increase in pay. We can only hope that he wants to stay here and develop, get game time, and be a team legend.

I just won’t be surprised if he goes… At this point I wouldn’t fault any player for leaving with the mess we are in.

As a supporter from several thousand miles away, I am doing what I can to boycott. I’ll not drink out of my newcastle united mug or glasses until Ashley leaves. Nor will I use my NUFC branded coasters. Rings on my furniture be damned

Genjikai: I went back and read what you said last night. I didn’t really expect anything new. I still think having someone to rally around would be good but The True Geordie is probably a bit sweary.

My only concern is the organized march to Charnley’s house and is twofold. 1. Why bring his family into it, and 2. I don’t think anything will happen on the day, what I am concerned about is nutters going back and throwing bricks through his window. Shout him down all you want on matchdays or at Benton but don’t bring his family into it.

I am not even sure I agree with protesting at The Fat Man’s home for the same reason. But I am sure he lives in a gated mansion with security so there would be no physical harm comes to him.

The view of the room was boycott is only way it wont hit his pockets but will show the world the way.
If you support this or not your choice.
But one way all can make a difference at this time is to become a member of the NUST.
Thats the way we will all be heard.
First goal should be taken up the NUST offer of 10a for lifetime membership. Thats one way we can all agree to make a stand.
Even your voice for 1 season at a quid will be heard.

Been driving. Parked up for a minute so caught up.
Right, I’ve said my bit, but I’ll add this. You think a boycott will drive him out. Blackburn, Coventry and Blackpool fans thought that too. All three plummeted through the tables. You can’t hold billionaires to ransom. Coventry were bottom of division two. They were always a PL mainstay. When we were slumming it in the 80s, they were always first division.
Blackburn won the league. Ended up in Division One. Blackpool also ended up in Division two.
The precedents ain’t great. Ashley wants to sell. Nobody so far has matched his price. He won’t sell for less than he wants. He’s stubborn. But he won’t lose money. The gate receipts are 25m. Say half the fans boycott. He’ll lose half that. He won’t though, he’ll just spend less on the team than he does now. He’s a BILLIONAIRE. He probably makes the gate receipts in interest. You think a guy who’s worth 2.5 billion misses 12.5 million? It’s pocket money to him.
And I didn’t say I didn’t care about the club I said I don’t give a f**k what people I don’t know, say or think. Are you mad? I happen to think it won’t work. Lots of people I speak to who go to games think the same. If I don’t think it will work, why would I bother.
Going to games means more to me than hurting the club. Ashley could ruin us before he’d give in out of spite. Who wins if we do a Coventry?
I’ve heard it said boycotts worked in Europe, but Europe doesn’t get 127m from Sky. Sky has brought the likes of Ashley into football. You can’t have it both ways.
Supporting your team isn’t about winning. Darlington dropped out the league. Their chairman broke them, because the crowds couldn’t sustain a 25k seater stadium. They lost everything, ended up playing with in Spennymoor, but their fans still turn up in relatively decent numbers. They’re real fans.
Loyal. They know they’ll never win nowt, that’s not the point. It’s supporting your team through thick and thin.
Look at Sunlun. That’s bad. Really bad. Compare that to mid table PL. The mind boggles.
Every club needs it’s die hards. They kept it going back when things actually were bad. We turned up because it’s what fans do ffs. That’s our part in it. Your choice not to go. I say, you’re hurting the club, not Ashley. It’s called a difference of opinion. Get over it.
And now I’ve got to go again.

    Genjikai,
To be honest, when I left there last night I thought about it and there was no clear objective of what we were going to do, what are we going to advertise, was it the boycott Arsenal game because if so then the NUST aren’t behind it?
