Statement On Takeover Really Needs To Happen Soon

Earlier today, we had reported about Peter Redding’s positive tweet about the BZG takeover.

The tweet was intriguing in that Peter Redding made mention of a pending statement in the next few days.

The Shields Gazette have also put out a report on that tweet but added some additional information.

Liam Kennedy in the Shields Gazette writes about the coming statement:

The Gazette understands that could even be as soon as tomorrow. The content of the statement, which has already been drafted, is not known, though.

It could be in connection with the story over the weekend from the Mirror, that Sheikh Khaled’s group had an influence on the decision to allow Benitez to leave.

While this is not definitive information, it does add some context to the information provided by Redding.

Where Kennedy writes that the statement is already drafted sticks out to us. While it does not appear that it is alluding to a done deal at all, it could be a clarification of the progress being made.

But why if it is already drafted is it being held?

Liam follows that bit of information with some conjecture that it may regard the unverified news that Sheikh Khaled’s group had an influence over Rafa’s departure.

It could be a professional courtesy for the Bin Zayed Group to wait until Rafa is confirmed as manager of Dalian Yifang before releasing any statement on him.

We just don’t know anything at this point. Or if this reported statement even exists.

Sheikh Khaled and Mike Ashley– someone please say something

Mike Ashley has gone back to radio silence after his announcement on Monday that Rafa was leaving. Just as he refused to make any comments about Rafa Benitez until his terse statement was released.

He has again gone back to no communication with the fans whatsoever. They have not released any information about who will be caretaker manager when the players return on July 4th or anything to do with a takeover.

Even Rafa Benitez confirmed in his interview with George Caulkin that the situation with the takeover had grown extremely troublesome.

This is what Rafa said in his interview in the Times:

“It was a big problem. In terms of my decision, I was waiting and I was asking for clarity and, like the fans, we didn’t know.

“Eventually, you have to decide. I could not continue in the same way, because I couldn’t see how to progress. It had to be clear to me — who was the owner, what would they do — and it wasn’t clear at any time.”

We really hope that the Bin Zayed group make a statement this week. We know we will get nothing from Mike Ashley, who even left Rafa Benitez in the dark.

Oops, Bill, that wasn’t aimed at you lol. I didn’t see that you’d questioned his decision. I think we were all kidding ourselves that he had a future here under the new owners. Micky even told us that the BZG didn’t want him as manager. He wasn’t the only one who told me that.

He has to work, if not for him then for his colleagues who won’t be as financially secure as he is. He needs to take a role where they will be taken on too, he’ll not abandon them.

That cuts his options down significantly. I reckon he’ll be in China for a while, but maybe on a contract with a break clause every season. That would suit him if the right job came up back in Europe in a year or two. I hope so anyway.

This rumoured £12M salary could even be split between him and the members of his coaching team.

With the deadline less than 3 days away to renew STs. Newsnow claim ticket office staff spending most of their time dealing with ST Direct Debit cancellations.

    Why the housekeeping now?

Could it be that examination of the books by outsiders have exposed what years of running the club on the cheap has resulted in – sloppy administration? Maybe the result of running the business on a shoestring with Charnley being its only resource?

    Cheers NY Mag, sensible comments.

‘Housekeeping…. but why’ seems to be the gist. Could be nothing, could be something. We’re not likely to know unless something happens, I guess, at which point it’s kinda going to be irrelevant looking for clues to something which has already happened.

    Fingers crossed it’s something.

Didn’t take what you said as a jibe at me, I know better than that. I hadn’t thought about his coaching team and yes you’re correct he would think of them, loyalty is probably his middle name.

I think the word loyalty would probably cause MA to choke on it.

    Lesh,

From previous – it were me who suggested a prominent blog member to be in the board of NUST.
I didn’t mention any names for fear of creating a meltdown.

Perhaps Ed / Neil could setup a poll (vote)?

If we voted Ketsbaia9 onto the board of NUST, maybe we’d finally get Davide Santon back at the club….

On that note, I’m off, gotta get my strength up for all that running after the blog tomorrow.

    Exhausting….

    Lesh,

Sloppy housekeeping is their middle name.

There is still the small matter of Ashley still holding an outstanding charge against Newcastle United limited, Newcastle United football company limited and NUFC.CO.UK for both the academy and the training ground against his £33M loan – which we know has been paid back

I thought I’d responded to that post but it seems to have failed.

The point,I was trying to make when I posted the race commentary was who better to represent the Blog on at NUST than the great man himself, a stalwart, an inspiration – Ed Harrison.

On a more topical not, I’m gutted rafa has gone. Whether you agreed with his tactics or often frustratingly late substitutions, you could tell he really cared. He was trying to make us into something we could be proud of.

Our academy and training facility really are pathetic, and the longer that is the case, the less likely we are to attract and produce top talents. Ashleys intransigence in this matter show hes willing to, using the house analogy, let us out to meth addicts and prostitutes and pocket the rent, all while letting the facilities decay. Soon we will be left with carpet from the fifties, wallpaper from the thirties, and spunk and feces everywhere. Once it is about to collapse, he will throw some paint over said spunk and feces (cleaning is too expensive) and try to sell us above fair market price.

Dalian Yifang was formed in 2009 and Rafa will be their 18th manager. Yes that’s right, 18 managers in under 10 years. The previous 17 managers are now in charge of various Gulag works teams throughout the country. Ok, I made that last bit up, but the first part is bone fide.

I haven’t owned 18 different pairs of pants in the last 9 years. 🙂

I reckon if you chucked a bit of sheik’s clobber on Jose Mourinho, and he worked on his tan little, or in a pinch just rubbed in a bit of bisto here and there, he could pass himself as Sheik Khaled.

Have they ever been seen in the same room together? 🙂

The football culture in China is quite unique and can come as quite a culture shock. As an example, teams tend to spend all day together, like a normal job, only more like 8am to 8pm, 6 days a week, and that most often means three or more canteen meals daily, local fare, pretty sure they wouldn’t know a paella from a pianola, and twice daily training sessions. Tevez walked away from 500 000 quid a week, presumably tax free, because he couldn’t hack it. Not sure how well our very own good food loving Rafa and his equally epicurean boot room will take to that. They certainly won’t be having many of their meals in their luxury digs or having a whole lot of free time to spend there either.
