Telegraph Journalist – Two Sources Say Martinez Not Interested In Newcastle Job

Luke Edwards of the Telegraph has tweeted out the following about Newcastle’s reported interest in Roberto Martinez:

We have no idea who his sources are but this would be somewhat expected. Roberto Martinez will know all about Mike Ashley. Being a compatriot of Rafa Benitez, he will undoubtedly have followed this situation that has ended with Rafa leaving the club.

Martinez is also a big follower of the game. He has served as a studio analyst at ESPN for the 2010 and 2014 World Cups as well as the European Championships in 2012 and 2016.

Roberto Martinez– on ESPN set

This will be a big issue for Newcastle United. They will have massive trouble attracting any quality managers or players. When Rafa was here, he was a big draw for the players. That is now unfortunately no longer the case.

Hopes of a takeover are fading fast as it looks like Mike Ashley is an unwilling seller. He just remains bound and determined to exploit this club for Sports Direct’s gain. It is just disgusting.

We have to hope a quality young manager who the fans can get behind is appointed and quickly. That may not be enough as many fans so no alternative but to boycott.

Should Newcastle United Fans Boycott St James Park Until Ashley Is Out?

Lest we forget Neil Mitchell is not just some random dentist, he’s the ex chairman of NUST, still heavily connected with the various fans groups and is well known to the BZG.

Nedders does enjoy his character assassinations. As for never saying anything in support of ‘Mike’….

    Muz & moonraker,

Sorry, I just spotted your replies from multiple threads ago ( my apologies, I had to attend a conference call – theres two hours of my life I’ll never get back)

You need to delineate what Ashley can do and how the club has to account for that.

Ashley can do anything he wants, he can buy players in cash, he can sell on the drip – he has no one to answer to in that respect (other than the wrath of the fans).

However, the club has to account for this in exactly the same way as all other premier league clubs – ie. they all have to folllow EPL accountancy rules. In addition all clubs have to submit their accounts twice a year (one preliminary and one final) for the EPL to audit.

    Repost from earlier

Where the f8ck do I start with Nedders?

“The helicopter debacle, clowns thinking it’s takeover related when Mike was just politely giving Perez a lift to talk to Leicester after they met the release clause. And we wonder why there’s no vitriol from the club – by all accounts Mike’s looked after Ayoze and picked up £30m”

Nonsense, tosh and bull. When has ‘Mike’ ever given a ‘lift’ to any player in his helicopter? And to London? I don’t know what yesterday’s flight was about, but I’m certain it wasn’t Perez-related.

“Crown Place has the same office as Pinsent Masons, I’m just pointing out that this could have been easy to forge. Companies House is about £30 and doesn’t require a lot of proof.”

Again, absolute tosh. If Pinsent Masons were not involved, having been listed as the lawyers on the Companies House documentation, they would have sued the backside off whoever was responsible. It’s not ‘easy to forge’ this stuff, if you are a foreign national wanting to register as a company director, it’s a tedious process. Yes, Midhat is British, but Sheikh Khaled is not.

“I don’t think BZG have the money and Ashley will not be driven down. I’m almost certain we’d be getting into a worse pickle if it went through, and our fans act so entitled, what chance the new owners if it went bad, fast? Think Venky’s or SISU”

Now that, my friend, is slander, pure and simple. Character assassination, comparing BZG to Venkys. I think I’d rather trust the PL / FA on their fit and proper person test than some tinpot judgement from a self-appointed judge of a kangaroo court.

Honestly I do wonder at some posters on here, not only going out of their way to support ‘Mike’, but also to slag off Rafa and his signings and to start planting the seeds of why the potential new owners were tyre kickers.

Where the Hell is Toon22 when you actually need him?

2nd repost from earlier. These and the above are all quotes from Nedders today

Nedders is, I’m afraid, talking sh!t.

Very rare I get so worked up about another poster, but that guy, post after post after post of nonsense and pro-Ashley pap.

“Many fans have confronted him in pubs over the years and every single one has come away thinking “he’s just a bloke, seems alright, actually””

“There are four parts that are seriously culpable in all of this mess, discounting Ashley;” – serious deflection

“I think many years ago the fans made a rod for their own back by attacking Mike and making a stand. Typical ignorant, petulant attitude has cost us dearly” – blaming us, the fans, for what has happened to our club!!!!

“Managers have astounding self belief and resilience. He will see it as a huge challenge and opportunity” – This on why any manager will be lucky to come and work for ‘Mike’

Seriously deranged opinions from anyone who knows anything about our club over the last 12 years.

Robleenio: I don’t care if the dentist was Ashley’s maid working undercover for MI5 and Froggy’s HMRC. I am just sick to death of this ITK stuff that changes daily and none of them are ever held accountable for what they said that did not happen. Including people on here. I suppose it is something to talk about rather than ploughing through 10,000 words of “the takeover according to Nedders ” which I admit I only skimmed as I had read some of his nonsense before.

Re the plane full of Sheikhs:

Sheikh Unknown – I’m not sure why you are talking about Farnborough when it landed at Newcastle?

lochinvar – I still think a plane and then a car full of Sheikhs would have been snapped by somebody!

Nedders – It is well known that Mike Ashley always uses NDA’s – that’s why there have been no massive stories from ex-employees, managers etc. The only thing we ever heard was about Keegan’s time as manager and that’s because of the court case!

What I’m saying is Ashley has maintained, through Charnley that if he sells a player for £30 million, we don’t then have £30 million to spend because he takes the guys wages paid over the employment period and any original transfer fee off the £30 million! Also if he’s buying a player for £30 million he adds on the potential wages over his contract, which might be another £8 million! So the purchase price could be £38 million!

As I said it’s a good deal to get £30 million for Ayoze the obviously didn’t watch him as much as we did!
The problem is Charnley’s probably only got £8 million for a replacement!

In a normal football club getting 30 million for Dave Gahan would be good business. But this is Ashley’s world where 25 million for Mitro disappears into a black hole. We basically had a net spend of zero under Rafa but Charnley said we spent all we had. I will have to look up that quote from Lee because I am not sure about his maths.

There are so many accountants (and air traffic controllers) on here all of a sudden it shouldn’t be hard to see if he was fibbing.
