Ayoze Talks Of Ambition In First Interview After Leaving Newcastle

Leicester City’s website have posted Ayoze Perez’s first interview since joining their club.

What he speaks of is what Newcastle United sorely lack under the stewardship of Mike Ashley. This is what he has said about what attracted him to Leicester City:

“[I like] the ambition of the Club. They want to keep growing as much as they can and that’s something I liked. I spoke with the manager (Brendan Rodgers) – that was an important fact. That made me feel very comfortable about the decision to come here.

“He’s such a great manager. We all know what we can do playing under him. Obviously, he’s been a big part of the deal, to make the decision, and in this case, to come to Leicester.”

Newcastle United have zero ambition other than survival and that is just not good enough for a club of this size and history. This is why Rafa Benitez is gone and why Ayoze Perez is now too.

It will also be the reason Newcastle will fail to attract a manager of decent ability as well as new players of real quality.

This is kind of a kick in the gut right now and it seems that Ayoze had grown very weary in his time at Newcastle. To be fair, it has been a constant struggle not just since he joined in 2014 but since Bobby Robson was sacked in 2004.

Times have grown even darker since 2007 when Mike Ashley became the owner of this club. It has been a roller coaster of emotions for the fans with some moderate highs (2012 and Rafa Benitez) and some staggering lows (Andy Carroll, 2 relegations, and loss of Rafa).

Just as Ayoze Perez has started a new cycle with Leicester City, Newcastle United will start a new cycle without Ayoze Perez or Rafa Benitez.

Can we go back in time to past cycle, please?

Both top scorers either sold or not coming back
An owner who refuses to buy replacement
No manager to even identify them
Some unknown 3rd party in charge anyhow

    What could go wrong

And why was SBR sacked? A loud mouthed section of the fans wanted him out. Well, not as entertaining as KK’s football after all. Which, in fairness, is all they had to go by, because that’s when they crawled out the woodwork to support us. They’re probably at the Etihad now booing Pep. 🙂

A footballer in his mid twenties on the back of a half season of success needs to get the best for himself and not waste chunks of a short career waiting to achieve something. Good luck Ayoze but please no fingers in the ears as you complete your hat trick at the king power against us.

I was a glass half full type.

Now I’m a glass been sold without my knowledge.

I’m told it will be replaced, probably with a sieve but if I am prepared to spend lots of money I can keep the hope that I will get a better glass.

At 30 million I think we’re pulling their pants down to be honest. Is this 30 million going to be reinvested though ? Probably not.

Froggy, that’s a FACT. I know you’re a bit dim, but if you went to games you’d know a section of fans hounded him out. Ask those who did go them. They weren’t fans ffs. Booing SBR? You call them fans. Idiot

Repost – the bus is a-rolling

Bobby, you’re right – how silly of me to think Charnley might accomplish something in a reasonable period of time. It’s not like they’ve had three years to get their contingency plans in lace in case Rafa left!

kamakazee, yep it would slow things down. I’m not the first (or the best placed source of info) to have brought up the idea that BZG are not the ultimate owner, but the collective memory of the blog does need a prod from time to time.

Some understanding here for us in the Comments section from knowledgeable football fans elsewhere.
Trouble is that’s not what we need.
We need ambition, action and results.

Anyone not find it strange, or maybe they have, but i cant recall any press outlet mentioning the going ons at company house on monday?

Maybe a press blackout? Also when a takeover is mentioned on ssn by a guest or pundit, the subject is moved on very quickly.

@RobLeenio: They could also be the initial owners, buy the club finance it for a year or two and then look for investors. Sure the city owners have sold shares of the club. I think they sold decent sized chunk to Chinese investors.

Come on, Perez wasn’t the second coming of Christ.
Yes he scored some goals but let’s not put him up there as one of the best, goal ratio was 0.23 per game.
Remembering his runs, as someone said Bambi on ice and then when he lost the ball he would stand there with his arms outstretched looking at the ref due to defender drinking a cup of tea while removing the ball.
30 Million is good business, don’t understand the amount though would have put him at half, maybe the thought is Miggy can take over that spot, wouldn’t be a bad choice.

Here’s a funny thing to add to the mix. Ashley’s plane flew out from Berlin to Luton today, a return trip from yesterday.

On Tuesday the 2nd, it flew from Luton to Switzerland, somewhere around the Lausanne / Nyon area, stopped for just over an hour and flew straight back.

UEFA have their HQ in Nyon.

Is there some kind of UEFA paperwork which would have to be signed when transferring the deeds of a club?
