Chronicle Writer Gives Update On Manager Who Has Interest In Position

When it was confirmed that Rafa Benitez would not be returning to Newcastle, a slew of managers were linked with having interest in the vacant position.

One of those was former Feyenoord manager and ex-Netherlands captain Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

This is what van Bronckhorst’s agent Guido Albers said last week:

“I think the rumors come a little early. No one from the club has spoken to Gio. But I think every trainer in the world is interested in the Premier League.”

“Of course he would like to work at Newcastle if that opportunity arises. is a great club with a great fan base, but it’s up to them who they go for”

The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder has tweeted an update to his interest in the position.

Van Bronckhorst managed Feyenoord for four years and decided to leave the club at the end of this past season. He led Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title in 2017.

While it looks like Roberto Martinez is currently Newcastle’s main target, there is growing doubt that he would leave Belgium to take the position and work under Ashley.

While van Bronckhorst was successful at Feyenoord and also a great leader on the pitch, his lack of experience is a concern if he were to become Rafa Benitez’s successor.

Anyone not find it strange, or maybe they have, but i cant recall any press outlet mentioning the going ons at company house on monday?

Maybe a press blackout? Also when a takeover is mentioned on ssn by a guest or pundit, the subject is moved on very quickly.

SBR wouldn’t have been hounded out by FFS bowing stupidly to a shallow cohort of ground attendees in the present day, the social media presence today would have totally smashed it down. It was a poor decision based on a misconception, Shepherd admitted as such.

Van Bronckhorst was a good manager who plays decent football. Never had as much money as other clubs around him neither. Worth a shout.

Well jib can dismiss Perez’s statement on joining The Fockers as usual sycophantic mush but there’s always going to be something telling about an ex-player starting his new sound bite career with the word “ambition” i.e. as in its something new at a club and he wants to try it. I think there was a fair chance he would have stayed if Rafa had and a proper deal was in place. On the other hand though I think Rafa would have been mad if he rejected £30m for him he could get a lot better for that money.

According to Lee Ryder on twitter:

Here’s the update: There’s been no bid of £350million on the table still.

    Repost again – apologies

Here’s a funny thing to add to the mix. Ashley’s plane flew out from Berlin to Luton today, a return trip from yesterday.

On Tuesday the 2nd, it flew from Luton to Switzerland, somewhere around the Lausanne / Nyon area, stopped for just over an hour and flew straight back.

UEFA have their HQ in Nyon.

Is there some kind of UEFA paperwork which would have to be signed when transferring the deeds of a club?

Sorry lads but the confirmation of Perez’s departure all but cements there is NO takeover happening. You cannot sell an asset that contributes to the overall valuation of a company. It’s like selling your kitchen while selling your house, the buyer of the house will simply say, “well it’s worth less now isn’t it”.

Short version: MA stays, club is F*****

Lets face it, if Ashley really wanted to sell he could just take the outstanding debt (130 million) and the amount he paid (134 miilion) – the trouble is that he wants to make a huge profit – 270 million would give him every penny he put in the club with a few million left over for a night at the casino

    He’s just a greedy fat b’stard

Here’s another interesting thing – on Monday 1st, Ashley’s plane was flying back to Luton from Palma, Mallorca.

Palma, Mallorca, for those who don’t know, is where Ashley has his holiday home.

    It arrived at around 11:15.

    Supershearer

They activated a buyout clause in his contract. Its legally binding and they cannot reject the bid.

Transfer embargo or not they cant do anything about it other than offer Perez a new contract and hope he turns them down.

    No incoming players
    No manager
    No coaches
7 first team players have handed in transfer requests (not including Perez)
Luckily we still have Ashley and Charnley to steer the good ship toon

    😀

With the Twitter melt down plane watch keeps causing surely there will be some people at the airport at 3:30pm trying to get photos of whoever is getting on the plane?

Might have a photographic “coincidence” to throw into the mix in a couple of hours.

    Would people start believing then??

    It’s happening!!

    Repost…

    Robleenio..

I guess that makes sense… In some twisted way ?
If.. Ashley still owns the club when the season starts, my guess is that players like Lascelles, Longstaff, Hayden and Gayle are gone too.. That should have given around 100 mil plus the 30 from Perez.. Add that to the supposed 50 from “Ashley/tv money”.. Thats close to 200 mil.. Now.. My guess is that we will have brought up some youngsters from the youth teams, and added with some players for arround 50-60 mil..
Now, where has the remaining 150 mil gone?
Charnley will off course say that player agents etc has gotten the rest.. But we all know, that the FAT lier has put them in his pockets.. Like the merchandise and tv money..
My guess is that he has taken arround 600-700 mil out of the club for the 12 years he has been here.

@Foggy – there was no buyout clause , it’s made up to tell the fans something

Charnley thinks Gayle can replace Perez so no need to buy replacement
Wants more youngsters to play in first team , hence 3 young uns promoted to first team training
Will see how Dawson / Redfearn get on before seeking new manager
KBA to sell it as promote from within, support the youngsters ,same way they came out with the support the team not the regime tagline….

So, Ashley was in or near Luton on the 1st having returned from his holiday to be there. On the 2nd he sent his helicopter to pick someone up from Newcastle off the scheduled Emirates flight, on the 3rd some private aircraft which has never visited Newcastle before flew in from Malaysia via Abu Dhabi and today is coming down to Luton.

That’s a huge amount of stuff just happening to fit nice and neatly together.
