Mundo Deportivo are again reporting on Joselu and his supposed transfer to Alaves. They first reported early last month of a pending £1.7M move to the La Liga club.
Mundo Deportivo later followed up their initial report by stating that the transfer was practically a done deal but was held up by “certain legal deadlines”. These deadlines were not explained but led to some speculation that it might have something to do with the BZG takeover.
If you remember, it was Joselu who alluded to a “new board” in an interview with Radio Marca at the end of May when he said the following:
“I have one year left at Newcastle, I have possibilities to move but it will depend on the new board that will come to the club”,
“The market in the Premier League ends on August 8, so I am attentive to the movements that may occur with me.”
Joselu– advanced negotiations with Alaves
The latest article from Mundo Deportivo says that Alaves are still very keen on Joselu and are currently in advanced negotiations with the forward. This is a far cry from prior reporting which all but confirmed the deal was about to be announced in a few days.
The report mentions that Joselu is also keen to join Alaves and does not want to see out the remaining one year on his contract.
Mundo Deportivo also states that Alaves will be cautious and patient while hoping that Joselu will join the club after the first few weeks of preseason.
We were a bit shocked to see Joselu back at Newcastle this morning as we had expected an announcement of his departure was imminent. That appears not to be the case though it does look likely he will leave this summer.
It was too good to be true that his transfer was being held up by the proposed BZG takeover. We were suddenly stripped of that notion by the shocking transfer of Ayoze Perez to Leicester City which was announced earlier today.
Well, we will continue to wait and see what happens with the Joselu to Alaves deal. The only positive we can see is that at least we don’t only have Dwight Gayle as the only out and out striker for the time being.

Comment #41I think Muto could provide a few goals for us next season if we don’t sell him. Working with Miggy they could score possibly a dozen or 15 between them. Who says we need a proper centre forward? It’s damned inconvenient for Mikey and Lee to have to go out and find one on loan!

Comment #45I just wish you lot weren’t so unrealistic. Wanting a new manager straight away when poor Mikey has other problems? It’s just too much I tell you. Let’s just try going for a season or two with no manager and see how that works oot….

Comment #48Wot is it gonna take to unite the fans and turn them ALL against fat mike and his regime
How can anybody accept this crap when every season the newly promoted teams outspend us, not always a success i kno but at least they show ambition
No manager to spend the transfer kitty so mike will just hold on to it cos thers alway the jan window
Jan is a very difficult window with players settled at their clubs, recycle recycle
Wake up and take note of wot hes doin, hes asset stripping the club
If he sold the seats from under ur arses some people on here would stil go cos “they support the team and not the regime”
Its Ashleys club, Ashleys team and Ashleys pockets ur filling with ur money

Comment #62Has anybody seen the figures for The Toons transfer spending in the last 3 years as worked out by Newcastle Blue Star? They have included all the other clubs and guess who comes bottom?
Yep its the Toon.
Including Perez, the transfers have made Big Mike a PROFIT of 60 million. Lets not mention the 120 million SKY money each year.
The question needs to be asked where has the 200 million each season gone????
Asset stripping at its finest.
They highlight Sissoko and Wijnadum and Thauvin and Merino and their 2 million or free replacements.
We have a situation now where supporters are willingly putting money into Mikes pocket and he is urinating on them.
The club does not even bother now to communicate with supporters pr even try to hide the fiasco. Total contempt and making the owner a fortune.
And still they roll up.
Last season he made 200 million. Why would he sell?????
Come on guys engage your brains and grow some balls. You look like c..ts for going.

Comment #67I really hope everyone Ashlie approaches to be “manager” turns him down. He’s only going to get a puppet or perhaps muppet at best. What a message that would send to him. But if that happens I suppose he’ll blame Charnley .

Its not that you support ashley, I.m.o you do, you defend the way he asset strips our club and the die hard support the team not the regime. Fair enough support the team but dont ram it down our throughts everyday how we are a fiscally responsible club nd things used to be much worse … they werent. We used to have hope … thats gone and by supporting the team I.m.o you are supporting the regime. You are in a massive minority we support a football team not an accounts sheet.

You know how we sell on the never never and we get £1.50 here and £1.50 there for the numerous players we’ve sold, how much are all those £1.50s ?
It must be a bit, we’re talking several players sold at a decent wedge, 20-30m a season incoming transfer money?????

Comment #74Funny you should mention LC was good at cricket, we have another young midfield dynamo who is very good at cricket too in Sean Longstaff. In fact his brother Matty is also very good.
Wonder if there’s a correlation between being good in midfield and good at hitting stuff really hard with a club?

1st Arab
Hello Mr Ashlie, indeed, we want to finalise the takeover of Newcastle Untied Football Club
lock stock and barrel.
MA
Er hang on you do realise that the deal was for the Newcastle United Sanitary Co. Ltd only, not the whole club.
2nd Arab
What you are trying to sell us your toilets for £350m.
MA
Sorry has there been some misunderstanding, which of my Newcastle United Company’s did you want to buy.
1st Arab

MA
No of course not I’m a man of my word, lets all sit down and thrash this out to my satisfaction.
2nd Arab
Again you have insulted my family but as a gesture of goodwill and hope I extend to you and invitation to come to my country very soon where I’m sure we can come to an amicable solution to this problem.
MA
