Deal Said To Be Announced Soon Now Downgraded To Advanced Negotiations

Mundo Deportivo are again reporting on Joselu and his supposed transfer to Alaves. They first reported early last month of a pending £1.7M move to the La Liga club.

Mundo Deportivo later followed up their initial report by stating that the transfer was practically a done deal but was held up by “certain legal deadlines”. These deadlines were not explained but led to some speculation that it might have something to do with the BZG takeover.

If you remember, it was Joselu who alluded to a “new board” in an interview with Radio Marca at the end of May when he said the following:

“I have one year left at Newcastle, I have possibilities to move but it will depend on the new board that will come to the club”,

“The market in the Premier League ends on August 8, so I am attentive to the movements that may occur with me.”

Joselu– advanced negotiations with Alaves

The latest article from Mundo Deportivo says that Alaves are still very keen on Joselu and are currently in advanced negotiations with the forward. This is a far cry from prior reporting which all but confirmed the deal was about to be announced in a few days.

The report mentions that Joselu is also keen to join Alaves and does not want to see out the remaining one year on his contract.

Mundo Deportivo also states that Alaves will be cautious and patient while hoping that Joselu will join the club after the first few weeks of preseason.

We were a bit shocked to see Joselu back at Newcastle this morning as we had expected an announcement of his departure was imminent. That appears not to be the case though it does look likely he will leave this summer.

It was too good to be true that his transfer was being held up by the proposed BZG takeover. We were suddenly stripped of that notion by the shocking transfer of Ayoze Perez to Leicester City which was announced earlier today.

Well, we will continue to wait and see what happens with the Joselu to Alaves deal. The only positive we can see is that at least we don’t only have Dwight Gayle as the only out and out striker for the time being.

Hey no votes for me as next mgr? I play over 30s six a side soccer, we are even responsible for bringing the balls and our own uniforms all that gets provided is pitch time and nets, not mollycoddled with the fancy facilities these lads have… They’ve grown soft. I’ll show em a thing or two and those not on the field or making my bench will be earning part of their salary back for Ashley selling autographed photos in the stands.

    WLG,

If Lonstaff goes, my belief would go from >80%, down to zero.

Re. finding a new manager- I think it’s just paper talk……the obvious stories to print after a manager leaves are ones about potential new managers. Woupdnt surprise me if the bookies are in on that too.

It would be great for some local businessmen / consortium, who support the toon could get together, and chip in 150mil.

That would leave £3k each between 50k fans to make up the rest.

Buy the club ourselves and run it locally

HC Just a shred of factual information would be good from Ashlie, NUFC , the potential buyers.
If it were yours or my business you wouldn’t treat your most valuable assets i.e 1) The manager who made you millions over the past few seasons and who stuck by you even when relegated 2) The players – a great bunch who for the most part came up from the Championship and who over performed and finally 3) The fans who pack the home stadium with 52000, the amazing away support and all those who spend on merchandise.
Never engaging with any of them.
Sorry I can’t get me heed round it.

It feels like forever now that people have been saying there’ll be takeover news ‘tomorrow’ but tomorrow never comes.

Even the clickbait journos, WUMs, and trolls seem to be worn out by it to the point where they’re silent. Drained of the will to live. There’s a deep, sullen silence hanging over the club like a huge black cloud.

Still, I suppose as long as we hear nothing we can cherish the tiniest, most fragile shred of hope. Knowing might be worse.

He doesn’t see people like we do…..manager is just a tool to be discarded as you or I would discard a screwdriver that was no longer needed.

And there’s no love lost between him and the fans- hes not going to suddenly develop a sense of responsibility.

Anyway I’m off……that cookie has made me sleepy. 🙂

Where’s NYMag tonight. We need some more of his insight. What on earth can be going on? Surely Ashley and crew have known for quite some time they weren’t going to be able to re-sign Rafa. So why weren’t they quietly interviewing candidate managers to avoid this mess?

Is the real Joselu hold up to do with how many strikers (cough) we have remaining at the club then?

Has Gayle been seen in training yet?

Surely fat lad wouldn’t hold the deal up for that because that would make sense.

Since Hoser Loo is now a valuable commodity at NUFC his sales value has apparently tripled to 1500 quid. The buyer is apparently unwilling to go that deep….

Could we possibly go with and all-retired squad now? Get Petr Cech, and possibly Colin Miller and the Bee Gees for starters? Then possibly get Shola and at least one brother and Shearer? That should just about do it.

If the current goings on at NUFC were a TV show (say on Netflix) and it was purely fiction. Nobody would believe it all, it would be too far fetched.

The club has such contempt for the fans I doubt that they will comment on the takeover. We will just drift into the new season. Nothing said.
Why should they? They never raised the issue and have made no comment througout.
1st August. Mr Penfold anything to say about the takeover?. “No.”

    Yedlin Schar Lascelles Dummett
    Richie Shelvey Longstaff
    Atsu Miggy
