Report – Exciting Manager Being Considered For Newcastle Position

The Telegraph are reporting that Newcastle are considering Quique Sanchez Flores for the vacant managerial position.

The ex-Watford manager has just resigned at Chinese Super League side Shanghai Greenland Shenhua on Wednesday. Wouldn’t that be a story if a Spanish manager left the Chinese Super League to replace a Spanish manager who just joined the Chinese League.

Also in other Chinese Super League news, it seems that Jose Mourinho has rejected a massive contract offer to coach Guangzhou Evergrande.

Sanchez Flores is fifty-four-years-old and has been the manager of ten teams since getting his first gig with Getafe in 2004. The former Valencia right-back most recently coached at Espanyol for two seasons prior to his move to China where he has only lasted for half a season.

Quique Sanchez Flores– the most interesting coach in the world

Most Newcastle fans will know him from either his playing days in La Liga with Valencia and Real Madrid or as the coach of Watford when he replaced Serbian Slavisa Jokanovic for the just promoted club in 2015.

Despite finishing comfortably in 13th and reaching the FA Cup semi-finals, Sanchez Flores was sacked in what we at the time thought was an outrageous decision.

We really like Sanchez Flores and thought he did quite well at Watford. While he has tended not to last long in most of his appointments, he has coached some big teams like Atletico Madrid, Benfica, and Valencia.

He has a career points per match average of 1.5 and a winning percentage of 42. He plays very nice football and we think under the circumstances he would be an excellent appointment.

With news in the Chronicle that Lee Charnley has returned from meeting contacts and agents in Europe, we hope that Sanchez Flores was on that list.

This is what the Chronicle has written about Charnley’s European trip:

Newcastle United managing director Lee Charnley has returned to the UK after spending time in Europe this week.

With the Magpies searching for a new manager and summer signings, it is understood Charnley has held meetings with a host of agents and contacts.

We hope he has not come back without significant progress as time is ticking and a new manager needs to be appointed very quickly.

Was it Roma or Lazio that played in an empty stadium not so long back, because their notorious “Ultras” decreed it, or else.

We are a far more civil bunch thankfully, but we certainly need to agitate the many tens of thousands that will show up, to at least make a noise in there, for the lads and against the owner.

It’s that passively accepting lot, all perfectly nice I’m sure, that need to be influenced and brought onboard.

Ashley brings in Flores, spends one hundred million, then a big chunk of the crowd will be happy enough, and that’s really what this protest is up against.

    Good points
I signed up to Nust just a week ago for same reasons as you, wanting to be at least be involved from far a field .But already feeling it wasn’t the best decision with wraithe looking front and centre ( hopefully they see sense and realise how decisive he is)
As for the ginger pirlo ,I struggle to think of a player who will eptomise Ashley’s reign more .
Awful player, hated him shh after he netted in the 3.0 ,and even turned his back on club who brought him through and ran down his contract ensuring they got nothing same as he is now doing to us .
Will never forget the points we lost either to a player who was way out of his depth so fouled at every opportunity and in the most stupid areas and times of games.
with Var next year ,no player allowed back into the fold more than colback would guarantee relegation .
    Maybe that’s Ashley’s parting gift.

I signed up and then Wraith (Lord of the Rings) started pushing his agenda that tea and biscuits is the way forward.

I intend to get to the next meeting and ask the questions regarding voting on ways forward. At best I’m a voice that’s heard I’m out a tenner.

It’s not to late to apologise to Bobbee .

Bobbee probably felt under pressure in deciding he was going to Boycott, and in the interests of the long term good of the support and the way we all feel about Mike Ashleys murdering of a way of life and a religion in Newcastle United ..a big decision for Bob.

He was under pressure in a way as he’s an honest bloke. Give him a break man!

So here’s an opportunity to mend the damage and say sorry and mean it ..I think you have went too far and you know it but don’t know a way out ..well here’s your chance.

There is a podcast on the True Faith website, Alex Hurst and Steve Wraith outline the objective of the NUST.
They clearly state the agenda will be driven by the members. Currently the trust is not backing any boycott. They do not present the trust as a protest group.

I tried. The lad just can’t let it drop. He’s either suffering and we’re his focus or he’s just enjoying trying to bring the blog down.

Well there’s still the withered husk of NUFC, there was a decent chat about the young lads earlier buried within the crusade to become more unpopular than tea boy Charnley

    OFD,
I don’t hate Colback, Fenton is the closest I’ve come to hating a player for scoring against us, and in hindsight that was a little harsh on the lad…

Colback isn’t a terrible player, he’s probably solid squad material for bottom end Prem, top end Championship. Particularly as he can provide a semblance of cover to full back.

I hadn’t thought about VAR with Colback, but yeah, that could be a big issue for him, it is tough to imagine him giving more free kicks away though….

I actually think he will probably still move on this summer, if a manager gets sorted quickly ish.. It’s all in limbo though, and it’s impossible to predict or discuss transfers, starting 11’s until there is some semblance of clarity and order restored.

They aren’t a protest group, but telling people, their own membership included that other groups are wrong to boycott is divisive.

If it’s member driven then voices have to be heard. Paying for billboards stating what fans want for example, is not a protest it’s statement of fact.

I speak to Graham Fenton ..Smashing bloke . People do mention the year he popped up as a sub ..usually smiles .

It was terrible that a Geordie stopped us winning the league that year . Just our bloody luck.

Who would be a Newcastle fan.

Even have ex players doing the Judas on us ..a player we had respect for Kevin Nolan.
I though he was one of us .

If talksport have paid him to stir the shit then they are lower than a snakes belly.

The only “exciting” thing about him is the excitement of wondering if he’s going to still be manager tomorrow.

At a time when we need to move forward with a stable leader we are looking forward to getting a manager who has trouble staying at a club more than a year?

    I dont think so!
