The Telegraph are reporting that Newcastle are considering Quique Sanchez Flores for the vacant managerial position.
The ex-Watford manager has just resigned at Chinese Super League side Shanghai Greenland Shenhua on Wednesday. Wouldn’t that be a story if a Spanish manager left the Chinese Super League to replace a Spanish manager who just joined the Chinese League.
Also in other Chinese Super League news, it seems that Jose Mourinho has rejected a massive contract offer to coach Guangzhou Evergrande.
Sanchez Flores is fifty-four-years-old and has been the manager of ten teams since getting his first gig with Getafe in 2004. The former Valencia right-back most recently coached at Espanyol for two seasons prior to his move to China where he has only lasted for half a season.
Quique Sanchez Flores– the most interesting coach in the world
Most Newcastle fans will know him from either his playing days in La Liga with Valencia and Real Madrid or as the coach of Watford when he replaced Serbian Slavisa Jokanovic for the just promoted club in 2015.
Despite finishing comfortably in 13th and reaching the FA Cup semi-finals, Sanchez Flores was sacked in what we at the time thought was an outrageous decision.
We really like Sanchez Flores and thought he did quite well at Watford. While he has tended not to last long in most of his appointments, he has coached some big teams like Atletico Madrid, Benfica, and Valencia.
He has a career points per match average of 1.5 and a winning percentage of 42. He plays very nice football and we think under the circumstances he would be an excellent appointment.
With news in the Chronicle that Lee Charnley has returned from meeting contacts and agents in Europe, we hope that Sanchez Flores was on that list.
This is what the Chronicle has written about Charnley’s European trip:
Newcastle United managing director Lee Charnley has returned to the UK after spending time in Europe this week.
With the Magpies searching for a new manager and summer signings, it is understood Charnley has held meetings with a host of agents and contacts.
We hope he has not come back without significant progress as time is ticking and a new manager needs to be appointed very quickly.

Comment #123Whether or not the boycott causes financial strain is negligible.
The bad publicity and the message that enough is enough is priceless.
The media largely ignore what this Tapeworm is doing to ‘our’ club.
The more we do as a fan base to get the spotlight on our cause the better.

Surely the arrival of Tielemans precludes Madison dropping deeper? A slight change of approach under Rogers now he can make his mark on the squad could see him being used similar to Sinclair as a centre forward but in an unorthodox style (Rogers with Sinclair at Swansea).
At the £30million, I’d say it’s almost certain they were the only takers. The Spanish clubs wouldn’t be splashing that on him, and I think that is where he really wanted to go.

Coupled with the fact that record signing Almiron came in and gave him a kick up the ar$e.
If true that he let his intentions known that he wanted away and that “the club” wanted 30M, I wonder how much it swayed Rafa’s decision when he was told he’d only be allowed 61M +5/6M of the Perez sale that window(to be approved by Churnley/Ashley)

Comment #128What really irks is the fact it could have been different
If he had invested in the youth and the facility’s
Even if what was found was eventually sold on with some of the money going back in
So we could see the results
But no idiocy and greed got in the way

Comment #130Perez has gone, which is a real shame he’s coming into the best years of his career, he’ll be a big miss. He may have been easily knocked off the ball but he had skill.
Not sure if MA realises atm he’s recouping money but pressing the self distruct button at the same time.
We have to spend big just to stand still.

Comment #131Perez left because 30000 idiots decided to boo him of the field prior to Christmas
When will people realise their actions have consequences
He played great after Christmas but had a rough patch from the beginning of the season
Why would you stay at a club where the fans showed so little patience ,when he most neede their help
Good luck Ayoze but please don’t blame anyone but the loyal fans of nufc
And I know because I was there that day

Both are good mate, against men though in the prem?
Im not too sure yet bud.
Kellands got alot to give in midfield and uptop but the england setup have made him into a cb.
He can spray a ball out from like a champ (as hes an attacking player really) got a cracking shot (scores quite abit even from cb) and is good in the air. Scores quite a few headers. All in all i think he needs game time mate, all the lads need careful development.
Time will tell.
Owens went the same last year he was midfield good passer of the ball but hes been made cb with kelland (family ties maybe? longstaff brothers in the middle kelland and owen at cb)
All can pass a ball class as EGB will be able to tell you.

Iheanacho has failed in the deeper role, because he is far more of a box player. When he was younger, in age group football he was whatever he wanted to be. Now he is senior level, he is a centre forward.
Go back on this blog and I was saying Iheanacho was a talent before he joined City. He stood out hugely at age group, City was the wrong move. He had options in Portugal and Scandinavia, but went for the cash and perks of City to the detriment of his development.
There’s a talent in there though, I’d have no qualms if we tried to get him still. Need a manager mind, who can help him make the most of his natural ability.

Bobbybee has also been adamant that he would never ever ever ever NOT go to a match because of any any any any owner or even because we are crap. And after 50-odd years and 500,000 words, changed his mind yesterday.
And I am the hyporcrite??????????????

The boycott isnt just about hitting him in the pocket, it’s the knock on affect it has on the person associated with disgruntled customers. Ashley like most successful businessmen and women have an ego, they dont like being challenged and certainly dont want to be known as failures or failing in a business.
The impact it has on his reputation as a businessman is something he wont want, nor will others want to be associated with.
Sometimes, just sometimes it’s about more than money. The boycott isnt about hitting him in the pocket, it’s about highlighting his failure in running a business, his failure as a business man. Look st the bigger picture rather than monetary which is the shortsighted view

Comment #148I like all fans still hope for a miracle and a successful completion of this takeover.
However, only one parasite can mess this all up, and if he does I can’t even contemplate the next chapter in this entire nightmare. Didnt/ wouldn’t sell to the Mansours or Sheikh Khaled, who in their right mind would even have the patience or funds to enter negotiations with fat boy in the future. It would appear that he is a very unwilling seller

For a guy that obviously knows his shit regarding the inner workings of football you don’t and half talk some tosh, where else could he have gone if he wasn’t talking about ambition? He’s not good enough for Real, Barca or Athletico or any of the top clubs, signing for a club that won the PL a few years ago and now obviously wants to win more like an FA cup or league cup and is spending the money to do so is showing ambition, how can you legitimately say he’s gone there just for the money???
