Newcastle Linked With Serie A Defender

Calcio Mercato is reporting that Newcastle are interested in Genoa centre-back Davide Biraschi.

The former U21 Italian international has been with Genoa since 2016 when he moved from Avellino for €1.6m. He still has three years remaining on his contract.

He was a mainstay at Genoa last season making 36 appearances with only 2 from the substitutes bench.

Biraschi is valued at €10m by Genoa and the player is also drawing interest from Everton, Lazio, and Atalanta.

Genoa generally deploy a back three similar to what Newcastle used under Rafa Benitez last term. Though, we have no idea what formation or system Newcastle will have next season as the search for a new manager has barely gotten underway.

Davide Biraschi– do Newcastle need another centre-back?

We would have our doubts about this transfer as central defence is one area in which Newcastle has excellent depth.

Currently, there is Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar, Florian Lejeune, Federico Fernandez, Ciaran Clark, and Paul Dummett who can all do a job there.

Newcastle may well have scouted the player but we would imagine he would only become a target if another club poached one of our current defenders.

I’m definitely a Newcastle United supporter and I didn’t know who Steve Nickson is or his function at the club. I hardly think that qualifies me as a makem. That’s not a very scientific litmus test Jib.
On the Chronicle I think the key word is official when they talk about a bid having been made. They quote that no official bid has been made. Subtle difference.

Thankyou to whoever posted the tale about Penfold’s drunken wife blurting about how she can’t wait for the sale to be done so her hubby gets his big bonus. I believe, that’s another titbit for the happy box. How can you not believe in a sale after that!

Toon22 is not a fan. Hes fooling some ppl but not all. He has about 4-5 accounts which he plays off each other to make one seem more credible whenever it looks like people have found him out.

Hes not an nufc fan when will ppl just realise this and stop engaging or at least just laugh at him instead of getting worked up.

Just sit back and laugh guys. Lol

I’ve had a season ticket for 15 years and am on the 10 year deal but if this takeover falls through I will actively and vocally support an Arsenal boycott.

Getting the wider (non blog reading) masses to unite will be harder but I will try as hard as I can.

Getting the blog to unite on a Tony Baloney boycott is surely easier? Please just don’t mention his name or acknowledge any of his posts or we’re all in for a future of skimming through 500+ post articles each and every morning!!

I was super hopeful that a takeover was going to happen after dubai Mikey’s info.

the sale of Perez has just about confirmed to myself that a takeover is dead in the water.

Ashley is looking for a new yes man, or someone with no ambition, who is gonna take the salary and run.

Personally I think there is a deal already agreed between Ashley and the new manager.

Ashley is gonna sell off a few prized assets, before he announces his new patsy!

Toon 22 has been on here for a number of years
Before all this happened around the time of the staverley bid going down he took on this persona and mission.
Before that he contributed as a normal ,informed poster on most things nufc .
Hopefully if this happens we may see his non frog days return .

Magscar, In defence of the frog, his hearts in the right place and I don’t recall any of his accusations of shillery being malicious in flavour. He is mind numbingly repetitive at times, but does seem to be engaging more with other posters recently. On catch up, I tend to skip him once he gets on a roll. But as the only non shill on the blog, he does have a corner to fight.

There will be no takeover now. How will that go down with the thousands like me who have not renewed in protest. Some own goal that! They’d have to announce the deal well before season tickets are put on general sale, which is Monday 15/7. They could then open the renewal process to allow us back in. But perhaps these guys don’t think of these small details, which are massive to us. And as much as I hate him FCB is not channeling funds out of the club, except for repaying any short term loans. We would see it in the published accounts albeit 1 year later. To date he has invested £250m give or take which was the initial purchase and the stadium mortgage repayment. He has put money in since post relegation which he has been repaid for out of club. 2 relegations which will have cost about £150m which the club has in effect paid for. I suspect he’s saving up for the next one, hence no investment. We are stuck in this loop of despair until he goes.

    Bit of history….

“Jack Greenwell was born in Crook in the Durham coalfield in 1884. His career as a football player took in just two clubs: Crook Town and Barcelona. But as a coach he was a visionary, leading Barça for seven seasons before becoming an evangelist for the game in South America.

He died in Bogotá in 1942, having suffered a heart attack while driving home from a training session.

Marcos Calderón was born in Lima in 1928. He also had a limited playing career, representing Carlos Concha and Sport Boys, and also achieved far greater renown as a coach, winning 10 league titles at four different clubs. He died in 1987, as a plane carrying his Alianza Lima side crashed into the Pacific near Callao.

They were two men from very different backgrounds but they both led Peru to the Copa América. On Sunday Ricardo Gareca, as he leads Peru against Brazil in the final, could become the third.”

    Nobby Solano is Gareca’s Lieutenant.

What annoys me are things like this. Derby (who knew a while back that chances are they would be losing Lampard to Chelsea), named a new manager within a few days of it being official that lamps had left.

And then charnLIE etal, having known for months that chances are Rafa would be leaving for pastures new, hadn’t even thought that maybe, just maybe it might be an idea to scout out a few potential replacements IF Rafa was to leave.

It just shows how useless charnLIE and the rest of them truly are, no forward planning, no plan b. Well, no plan a either I would expect.

And why hasn’t the Joselu transfer not been completed yet? Why haven’t we bought anyone? Are ashLIE and charnLIE just going through the motions of owning the club now? Are the rumours of charnLIE’s wife gobbing off when a bit boozed that she wishes the takeover would happen soon so that her husband can get his multi million pound bonus?

    WTF is going on?

Reminds me of this song by The Macc Lads (change “Pub” for “Club”), it’s a bit sweary. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGeFZzd0yUI

Haha – it’s when he engages he comes a cropper – best he doesn’t for him

I feel the retort of shill to posters and the Hiya KBA does nothing to keep the flow of the BLog going and to allow room for all genuine non wind up opinions to breathe properly on here.

I haven’t engaged with him hardly at all since October last as it is a waste of effort.

The defence of him ( like Warren earlier) is that he seems to own the copyright on fakeover when he was neither the first or even most articulate of that strand of what is mainstream opinion – a rather poor justification for the torrent of posts the blog has endured from him 🙁
