Newcastle Linked With Serie A Defender

Calcio Mercato is reporting that Newcastle are interested in Genoa centre-back Davide Biraschi.

The former U21 Italian international has been with Genoa since 2016 when he moved from Avellino for €1.6m. He still has three years remaining on his contract.

He was a mainstay at Genoa last season making 36 appearances with only 2 from the substitutes bench.

Biraschi is valued at €10m by Genoa and the player is also drawing interest from Everton, Lazio, and Atalanta.

Genoa generally deploy a back three similar to what Newcastle used under Rafa Benitez last term. Though, we have no idea what formation or system Newcastle will have next season as the search for a new manager has barely gotten underway.

Davide Biraschi– do Newcastle need another centre-back?

We would have our doubts about this transfer as central defence is one area in which Newcastle has excellent depth.

Currently, there is Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar, Florian Lejeune, Federico Fernandez, Ciaran Clark, and Paul Dummett who can all do a job there.

Newcastle may well have scouted the player but we would imagine he would only become a target if another club poached one of our current defenders.

Funny but was talking to one of our computer support guys originally from chile last week .got onto to football and Newcastle United are his fav team .
Asked why thinking it would be because of the entertainers ,shearer etc .
Nope the whole of his family have followed us since the 50s as his grandad and Jorge ( George) Robledo were best mates since school days

On Boycott, don’t think partial measures work. Turning backs as some have suggested – how long do you think people will hold that for. Especially if Arsenal fans start to make noise, people wont be able to resist turning to look, making us look stupid. Coming in at half time would be equally bad if we happen to be winning the game. Would look like we are coming in just because we are ahead

Dont know if there are 2 groups of people as you put it. Theres thise who want ashley out and rafa in, then there are a tribe of semi-sentient upright chimpanzees who have taken to mimicking some human behaviour. Havent learned not to poo in fountains or eat with utensils yet though. Did see one eating cheesy chips with a twig though

I don’t know why the clubs propaganda team at the Chronicle and Sky keep talking about bids and not there not being a bid on the table.

There isn’t a bid to be made because Ashley has a fixed price for the shares in theclub. That’s called the offer. The bid is the price the buyer is willing to pay for the shares in the club.

BZG have said the price is agreed and Heads of Terms have been signed to state that BZG agree to the offer price. That act in itself is a bid!! The club themselves haven’t denied this. People have purportedly seen those HoT’s so why Downie and Ryder are tweeting and reporting blatant claptrap that’s being given to them to release I don’t know.

I suspect the issue with the transfer will come down to how much of a tangled Web Ashley has made of the club and its assets. BZG are probably taking extra time to be absolutely sure that Ashley hasn’t hidden a bomb in the contracts somewhere that keeps his fat fingers in the pie.

People wanting a new manager signed up should give their head a shake, a new manager means no deal.

It’s only my opinion but the only reason this sale will fail is because Ashley will want to have inclusive advertising and will hold on to all merchandising rights. I don’t think these will be part of the deal.

Even though I’ve been hugely sceptical about this takeover, it does seem that I may eat some humble pie soon.

As much as I tell myself that good things like this simply do not happen to the toon it still doesn’t stop me having restless nights and feeling excited to stalk twitter for some news.

Two major reasons why I’m starting to belive:

    1: Monochrome acquisitions limited.
2: Absolutely no movement in terms of signings whether that be for the club or for the managerial role.

The perez transfer was a buyout so it has absolutely nothing to do with the takeover and what’s interesting is what someone stated yesterday (I believe). They said something like…

“why would Leicester spend £30 million for Ayo when he doesn’t really justify that high a price tag. They could have got him cheaper, therefore I believe that Leicester didn’t want to wait for the takeover to finish to get him because by that time Perez could have been persuaded by the new owners to stay hence forcing there hand with the buyout clause? ”

Obviously that’s a long shot but there seems to be so many small things that add up aswell, such as: No statements to deny any of what BZG have suggested from Ashley, Joselu transfer being held up for no reason it seems and the biggest clue of all (in my opinion) being the lack of good news before season ticket deadlines. It’s a fact that there is always some false hope around this deadline to lure in fans to buying/renewing there tickets. Yet during this specific window we lose rafa, perez and look to be going through the motions. There is nothing enticing fans to renew which isn’t like him at all.

Now, I’m not saying I fully believe that the takeover will happen, it just seems very possible. All depends on Ashley.

other than those who depend on his cash no one in his world has anything good to say about him.
50 years ago he’d get away with his buiseness practices and running his place like a victorian workhouse.
These days anything can be up loaded
    His days are numbered .thankfully
