Football Italia are reporting that Italian Serie B club Spezia Calcio have accepted a €10m bid from Belgian side Club Brugge. They report that the Nigerian U23 international chose the Belgian club over Serie A side Sassuolo.
Newcastle were first linked with the pacy forward in May of this year. He had a breakout season for Spezia this past season scoring 10 goals along with 12 assists in 30 appearances.
He was deployed both as a striker and winger for the Italian club and was often called the next Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The twenty-one-year-old will travel to Bruges on Monday and have his medical. This is another one of those fringe targets that Newcastle have been linked with this summer.
While he would not have been seen as a replacement for either Rondon or Ayoze Perez, he was one that maybe had a bit of potential.
With his explosive pace, he could do very well in Belgium and may be worth quite a bit more in a few years if he does.

Comment #42Rob, I really liked perez. In fact I was lauding him here for his clever lines of running and hard work and getting grief for it. But you know I don’t back down on strongly held beliefs. And yes he hasn’t peaked and it hurts but he wanted out and not one of us wud have said charnley wud get 30mill

Comment #43With regards to chopper watch, perhaps Ashley has agreed Mourhino can borrow his helicopter and Jose wanted know how quickly he could get back to the smoke after a match.

Comment #45Munster, I think you were one of the lad’s champions, for sure. I thought he was a decent squad player, but with Almiron creating a bit more space, he suddenly was able to fulfil his potential and achieve much more.
I actually thought if Rafa could get him to sing from the start of the season, something he always struggled with I think even you would admit, he could have been a 20+ goal a season striker, playing from a withdrawn position. That would have been some feat, but I guess we’ll never know now, sadly.

Not the 1st time this has happened and we’ve been lamenting a sale of a club asset but we’ve always managed to put 11 players on the pitch despite a certain persons short sighted approach to the club.
And you never know Billy Wilder might be a fantastic success, even if he is dead!

Comment #48Just following the thread and thought, I’d give my 2ps worth.
I was gutted to see Perez leave as he’s just coming up to his strongest years. He always played for the shirt and for the fans, he just wasn’t always as effective as we wanted. 30m is good business as long as its reinvested, although he was capable of playing more than one position which might haunt us this season.
We need a statement this week, and if its not clear and honest, then the fan groups need to stamp louder. If Ashley has taken us all for mugs, which is looking increasingly likely. The best way to deal with is to boycott the Arsenal game, every man woman and child. Let Sky and the BBC show the world an empty stadium… Support the team in the pub, I’m sure the bars would offer a free pint for such an occasion. Hwtl

Suction cup is a decent shout

If it’s hardboiled you can’t get the soldiers in.
On Perez, I always thought the talent was there but sometimes the application was lacking, if he didn’t fancy it in a particular game he would do a great impression of running around but also stay on the fringes. That said the 3 amigos would have lit up SJP if they’d been kept together and Tapeworm and Egg boy hadn’t sounded away a brilliant manager.
