BZG Have Released Statement Through Capital Radio UAE’s Peter Redding

Peter Redding has just sent out the following tweets which he claims is a statement from BZG to Newcastle United fans.

These are the tweets that have been sent:

We sense there may be more coming from Peter but what he has laid out is somewhat encouraging. That is unless of course there is a big “but” on the way.

If these tweets are in fact accurate, we can glean that both parties are interested in a sale. They state that the current owners have cooperated amicably throughout the process.

The big statement is that if a deal is not forthcoming it will not be due to lack of effort from both parties. It appears to us that unless something happens that is outside the control of Mike Ashley and BZG then this may be happening.

They also claim they have completed every aspect of the takeover process. While this is not an official statement derives from a meeting Peter has apparently had with BZG, this has to be seen as positive news.

We wonder if this is the extent of the pending statement that Peter had spoken of last week, or if an official statement is still forthcoming.

We have yet to hear from Mike Ashley or Newcastle United at the moment, and that could be where the potential pitfalls lie.

That first couple of sentences is telling.

“Both parties have worked diligently… none more so than ourselves (BZG)” suggests BZG have been pushing harder.

“We have completed all aspects” ‘we’ being ‘both parties’ still or meant in the first person sense and referring only to BZG?

“It will not be due to lack of effort from both parties” as in effort on behalf of the negotiating team – Fatty still has to sign it off, however….

I think essentially, BZG have held up their part, jumped through all the hoops, dragged the NUFC team along with them and got the deal to a point where it could be completed any time. The one factor remaining is fatty pulling his chubby little finger out of his equally chubby backside and putting pen to paper.

    Howay chubby, get it sorted!

It comes from Pete Redding because it is following a meeting he had with BZG officials.

Following a meeting with Bin Zayed Group officials they would like to put on record the following information for NUFC fans:
“Both parties have worked diligently in finalising a deal, none more so than ourselves. We have completed every aspect required in a takeover process.

And they are saying for the record we have done everything asked of us.

This puts the ball firmly in AshLie’S court.

It is a shame that the statement is not more clearly constructed. Maybe BZG doesn’t want to annoy Ashley but at the same time want to make a statement that a decision needs to be made.

Could the reference to ‘…both parties’ working amicably mean that both party’s reps have been negotiating in good faith to complete but a certain Mr Ashlie has been making things difficult – moving the goal posts – and may yet do so to a cupper any deal?

As someone has already suggested, the statement may translate into Ashlie, sign off or BZG’s off! Surely to god he wouldn’t risk £350m for the sake of digging in over keeping advertising and commercial revenue for SD?

Why use Peter Redding? He’s being followed on twitter by thousands of Geordies – but isn’t part of the mainstream media.

It’s a little more discrete than blaring about no real news on Sky Sports, but gets the message directly to the audience it’s intended for (us).

He’s probably also been a bit more diplomatic in his enquiries to BZG than some UK journos have, knowing the customs and the social requirements of the culture in which he lives, so they probably like the guy.

Give ya heed a shake man. His info has been duff so far he’s got 1300 followers and I’m sure BZG have contacts in other media outlets considering they’re a multi national. Sky would be all over this like I say without corroboration as far as I’m concerned he’s just another tool after hits on twatter but it’s up to you what you believe.

Ashley/the club have made no efforts to get more season tickets sold this season. No extension of deadline date, no exciring player stories and stangest of all, there was an easy opportunity to pump takeover stories to the press which would excite the fans, instead, all we got from Ashley sources were long way off/no fa test stories.
He must know that without the unity of last season, without our 2 top goal scorers, without a manager and with an angry and disruptive crowd; relegation will be a real possibility this season. Surely he must realise that standards in the championship are ever improving, and now there are more championship clubs with wealthy owners pushing to get on the premier league gravy train. He just needs to look at WBA and villa to see that.
Fans are now angry and talking of taking action against both his nufc and SD businesses. Although this may not be enough to shift him, he certainly wont like it. I personally want us to stay in the premier league, and would not like it if fans took the kind of actions I am about to talk of. But fans have it in their power, if they are prepared to risk bans and arrest, to protest at matches, in the kind of ways which would lead to the club being fined, points deducted or made to play behind closed doors.

Tonboi, cheers mate. I’ve been pretty relaxed about this process so far. It’s just felt more real than any other time, so I’ve been quietly confident.

This feels like a fairly public nudge from one party to the other – stop p!ssing around, let’s get it done.

Of course, that could work one of two ways, depending on how stubborn our rotund owner feels….

At the end of the day, BZG have played the media game perfectly throughout this process. It wouldn’t even surprise me if the original leak to the Sun was made on their behalf, whether it came from the Premier League or not. How east would it be for them to ask a PL employee to brief a friendly Sun reporter?

Then the statements, then the silence while they waited for NUFC to catch up, now another statement to puch things along again.

I think Ashley’s now backed into a corner, he either sells or everyone knows the sale falling through is 100% down to him.

Canny operators, even more canny than Ashley. Also, pre-warned and pre-armed by the failed Staveley purchase. Who’d have thought, eh?

    😉

“Press claims of no bids or Premier league approval processes are simply untrue.”

Imho I believe this is saying that it’s still sitting with the PL. If they had failed FPP then there is no deal to be had. If Ashley and they are working amicably then they are nearly there. Although lots of rumours that funds not been transferred. Possibly waiting for Fit and proper before the funds in escrow are shown to Ashley?
