BZG Issue Third Communique On Takeover – But It’s All Very Strange

BZG have issued their third communique – this time through tweets from Geordie reporter in the UAE – Peter Redding.

Peter had said there would be a communique last week and he says he has now met with the group and issued the tweets as an update to the takeover.

They say they have completed every aspect of the takeover.

But it’s not what Peter had said last week – that the communique would either say the takeover is happening or that it failed.

A passing thought – why does it take Ashley and Newcastle so long to do anything?

And local reporters have begun to confront Peter on where he is getting his information – so it’s getting a little bit messy.

Sheikh Khalid – potential new Newcastle owner

Neil reported on this news earlier this morning and for the purposes of completeness here are Peter Redding’s tweets today:

There are some positive bits in there from Peter, but the line that stands out is this:

“The current owners have cooperated amicably throughout this process and if a deal is not forthcoming it will not be due to lack of effort from both parties.”

If that line had not been in there, we would be a lot more positive.

But it seems to be cover for Mike Ashley if a deal does not go through and because of that line, we think this is a prelude to announcing the deal will not go through.

And if that happens, the question will be – why not?

We need to know what Mike Ashley seems still unwilling to sell the club.

The Chronicle are reporting there are two other groups interested so maybe one of them is Ashley’s preferred buyer – but that’s a long shot.

And the Chronicle – who seem to be acting these days as a PR group for Ashley – have not reported this news at the time of writing this.

Why not?

This reminds me of the communique delivered by Peter Kenyon in a letter to Ashley just before his bid failed.

“I know I speak for both of us in that we continue to share a serious determination to finalize the agreement we have to suit both parties as soon as possible in the new year.”

“We have both spent many months discussing the parameters of a final deal and as you know we have also invested heavily in time and money on our various legal and financial advisors.”

“I appreciate the time and effort committed to the detailed discussions by your advisors, lawyers, club, and, of course, yourself.”

“I fully respect your desire to ensure the next owners of Newcastle United understand the club, football, and have the appropriate financial resources.”

“And I am delighted that you think the investor group led by myself is the best fit.”

“On my side, I would like to personally assure you that I am committed to concluding our deal as soon as possible.”

“And, while we are both perhaps frustrated that we have not progressed as quickly as we would have wished, I would like to express personal gratitude for your patience and integrity in this matter.”

Notice in both communique’s they are attempting to make Mike Ashley look good – that’s not an easy task.

This summer has been extraordinary for Newcastle fans as we have been kept in the dark about everything.

Hopefully, there will be a takeover – but from our reading of the tea leaves, the BZG attempt will not succeed.

But we’ve been wrong before – so there’s always hope.

Comments welcome.

Kenyon didn’t have the cash. Sounds like BZG do, but something else is potentially scuppering the deal. If it’s an issue with the PL approval let’s hope it gets resolved one way or another as soon as possible.

I do find it unlikely though that Ashley can persuade anybody to con the fans in this manner. It does nothing for BZG’s credibility going forward.

If Joselu is about to finalise his deal then it means the takeover process is about to be concluded. whether that is good or bad who knows, but it will be done imminently.

    This is the endgame.

So we shouldn’t believe Redding as he’s a journalist and journalists make things up.

On the other hand we should wait for Sky to say something. Sky? Journalists?
    Friends of MA?

The statement only really clarified that the buyers were very genuine whilst being diplomatic about the clowns running the club off a cliff at full speed.

Giant tea spoon at the ready!

If there is a release clause then i guess that is ok as it is in his contract and the club doesnt have a decision to make?

    Bobbybee,
It could be that Ashley and Midhat are casino buddies and Ashley has offered favourable terms on a business deal involving a multi million pound development for a little favour, it’s not inconceivable.

I don’t believe there was a release clause for a single minute tbh.

Im not too fussed if there was or wasn’t, I don’t see Perez being a big loss and was never his biggest fan. I think 30mill is good money for him. The issue I have is where that money ends up and who’s gonna be spending it on a replacement..

Every reporter on this takeover lives by the same axiom, “ 60% of the time I’m right every time”
Why go though a radio station?
Why not reach out to Sky News and do a live broadcast, hiding behind a local DJ seems troublesome, want to be taken seriously, Sky would move everything for a live interview.

He has no intention of selling, without the sky money every year wer would he get the cash to buyout other highstreet outlets

Hes making too much money at nufc thru tv money

And the fans are creating the base for the advertising and tv money to b paid while at the same time being made mugs of and being forced 2 watch sub standard players

We need to unite and BOYCOTT if we are to get rid of this fat mess

For me these latest tweets confirm that the deal will not go through and are in preparation of an official statement to that effect. Personally I believe that Ashley has nufc completely stitched up thru company structure which makes it almost impossible for potential buyers to unravel. Not a case of moving the goalposts more a case of finding where the goals are.

If you want maximum impact from a PR perspective you choose your moment and your location…..where better than in China with the Premier League Asia Competition featuring global brand Manchester City, London boys West Ham, Wolves (new kids on the block) and the powerful Newcastle United….sponsored by guess who, Chinese betting giants Fun888 who would gain massive cudos and exposure from this type of launch event.

So when the team appear for their official photo shoot for the competition in China they are introduced to the new manager one Jose Mourinho. This achieves maximum global exposure for the competition, Chinese football and also benefits Sports Direct who have the intent to build an expanding retail, online and property portfolio in China and London where Chinese investment is moving to while the Chinese economy adjusts before further expansion in the next ten years.

Mourinho with a backdrop of Sports Direct banners and exposure has Ashley modus operandi all over it – publicity and media exposure you just couldn’t buy to the largest market in the world. The exclusive will not be with The Shields Gazette it will be with Chinese media. This is culturally important for them.

BZG can be alongside or follow this up with the second major announcement that they are the new owners. Help us if it’s a joint announcement of a “cooperation” and that BZG are only investing in a share of the club.

First match is Wednesday 17th July.
Team fly out this Friday 12th so expect warm up training under Neil Redfren for a couple of days.
Serious business starts Monday 15th July.

Anything else in the meantime is white noise, a distraction, counter intelligence, guff.

Chill this week and BBQ over the weekend, prepare for Monday 15th July. You can Fun888 bet on it.

I should add from earlier post above

Wolves are owned by Chinese conglomerate Fosun
Man City purchased third tier Chinese team Sichuan Jiuniu
West Ham – Marko Arnautovic has been sold to Chinese club Shanghai PSG for £23million
Newcastle United – Chinese links ? Well we sold our Manager Rafa Benitez to Dalian Yifang

So just how did we get invited to this party…..? Must be missing something that links us with China other than Ashley’s ambitions over there.

PP Sports Digital Media Company are the exclusive broadcaster for the Trophy in China – downside is that Mourinho is over there as one of their pundits…can he do that after he’s announced as the new NUFC manager or is that even more good publicity for all those involved ?

It could also be true that the takeover is announced in China by the owners of Dalian, who then transfer Benitez & co back to Newcastle. Rondon signed as well. You never know. Any wild thought is possible
