Latest “Update” On Takeover Can Have Many Interpretations

The latest tweets by Peter Redding have added more confusion for an already bewildered fan base. If the statements attributed to BZG are in fact legitimate, and that is a big if at this point, what is their purpose?

A person looking favorably on the tweets could see this as BZG trying to quell the fears of the fans while defending themselves, though being unable to do that in an official manner due to non-disclosure agreements.

Someone looking at the deal as doubtful could see the statement as a precursor to the official announcement of its collapse.

Another way to look at it is a complete farce engineered by Mike Ashley and his public relations guru.

If we take the statements at face value, what on earth do they mean?

The first sentence in the initial tweet insinuates that Peter Redding has just come from a meeting with BZG officials and they want to put the following information on record.

The term “put on record” is generally used in regards to disputing counterclaims. In this case, it could refer to recent media reports of no bids being made in the Chronicle and Sky Sports.

The next sentence clearly states that both parties have worked diligently to complete this deal. If Mike Ashley was moving the goalposts, why would they mention both parties and not just say “we”.

They also then claim they have completed every aspect of a takeover process. This first tweet by Peter Redding seems to us to be positive.

The only part that leaves room for doubt is the “none more so than ourselves” when referencing the diligent work on finalising the deal. Though this could just be seen a defense of their integrity due to the reports in the media.

Remember, they made the claims that this takeover was in process in May so any news to the contrary would be an affront to their character.

The second tweet is just a blanket refutation of press reports that no bid or Premier League approval processes have been made.

This statement leads us to believe that the Premier League approval processes are still in place and could be holding up the deal. Though they also do not mention a bid being accepted which would have clarified this statement that much more.

They just mention that press claims of no bid are untrue however if a bid was accepted why would that not have been mentioned at some point.

The final tweet also leads to some confusion once examined fully.

From this tweet, it appears as though Mike Ashley has been a willing participant though again their is no reference to a deal being accepted on his part.

The “if a deal is not forthcoming” phrase is admittedly very worrying though seems to suggest that it is out of the hands for both Mike Ashley and BZG.

Though again we have no specific claims that Mike Ashley has agreed to anything just that he has worked diligently and amicably.

The “due to a lack of effort of both parties” also can be taken as either a positive or a negative. It could be seen that both parties are eager for the deal to go through. Or the “effort” could be alluding to the still ongoing negotiations between Mike Ashley and BZG.

There are both positives and negatives in these statements. So basically we are no closer to finding out what stage this takeover is at.

It would certainly be nice for either Mike Ashley or the Premier League to make some sort of statement at this stage.

Capital Radio was established by the Ministry of Information and Culture to cater for the surging expatriate population arriving in Abu Dhabi on the back of the oil-led construction boom.

Just another bit for you Naptoon. Think of it what you will, but the UAE Ministry is guess who . . . . . the UAE royal family

naptoon, did you read the quotes from Redding?

“Following a meeting with Bin Zayed Group officials they would like to put on record the following information for NUFC fans:”

Everything he then goes on to say is in quotation marks. This statement is not his words, it’s a direct statement from BZG through Peter Redding.

He couldn’t get away with it if it was false, that would be against the law (thanks ctommo for finding that article). The statement is genuine, it’s what it means which is confusing.

If Ashley was changing the terms of the deals then the statement from BZG would have have been much different. It looks like some issue may have cropped up in the PL approval process, and whether that can be resolved or not will determine if the deal can go through. Maybe the delay in the statement coming out was while they were waiting on the PL.

Morpheus – “…… It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.”

Blue pill or Red pill, anybody 😀

Let’s just stop talking about helicopters, Heads of Terms, Fit & Proper, I heard a guy who knows a guy etc and let’s talk about the actual world we live in for a moment. A world where a magical frog has been slapping our face and telling us to wake up and smell the coffee.

What has really happened when you remove all the takeover guff is that Mike Ashley’s NUFC is continuing bullishly in its undaunted remit. He has engineered the smooth dismissal of a competitive team manager that did not suit his interests. He is now selling off the profitable parts of the playing staff and having his minions find a suitable toe-the-line team coach who will adapt a team assembled by a talent scouting staff to achieve the bare standard of premiership survival. He is probably keen to help in any way promote the “support the team not the regime” (“We are United” anybody?) ideology as it ensures bums on seats and shirts out the shop door.

This is what is actually happening. No hotels, no taxis, no insider banking snitches, nothing, nothing at all.

So, Blue pill or Red pill anybody?

Cheers Reilly, considering Joselu said he couldn’t complete his move to Alavez until the new board were in place, that could mean a lot.

Or, conversely, it could mean nothing.

    I prefer the former, obviously.

Anyone feel like it’s groundhog day? All we want is a bit of clarity, one way or the other….

So how do you see BZG’s role in all this? It’s their statements which have distracted the fans and kept us guessing, absolutely perfect for Ashley he could hardly have sedated the fans better had he wrote them himself. Just enough optimism in them to make us assume its about to happen, never anything concrete.

If this was never on they can’t be so stupid as to assume everything was fine and make these statements, (they would have dealt with Ashley and realised what he was about). Now in this latest statement they felt the need to actually praise his co-operation, very suspect. Do you think they are somehow complicit in this lie?

    It’s off

Its time to admit it was never really happening I’m afraid..

His next trick will be to make loads of noise about the £100m transfer kitty available to the new manager, who will inevitably be brought in with only a week or so to spend it..

Followed by… “due to the time constraints following the new appointment, no quality players were available, we will look to invest properly in the team come the January window”

    And guess what!

In January the ‘for sale’ sign goes back up, another mysterious bidder will enter bullshit talks, and we start this all over again.

It’s shite because all of my mates are getting excited about the new season now the ladies have finished… but I genuinely don’t want to hear that whistle against Arsenal with this prick still sat at the top.

Longstaff, Dubravka and Schar should run for the nearest exit while they can get the best deals for themselves.

I genuinely fell in love with this club as a kid during the Sir Les and King Alan years.. fast forward 20 years and I’m slightly embarrassed now when people ask who I follow.

    Cheers mike.

Jib- that is very interesting. It does make it appear that Mourinho is only waiting on assurances that he has freedom to dictate transfers and such. It also appears as if Deportivo Alves is worried that Mourinho might fancy keeping Joselu as he was the manager that gave him his chance in Real Madrid. Add this to the fact that Joselu has been pictured in Newcastle airport and it is looking positive. Also the fact that Joselu mentioned a while back that new owners were on the horizon. Looks promising.

The sale of Joselu means nothing ever since Perez was sold. Clearly if they can sell perez then the delay with Joselu has absolutely nothing to do with a possible takeover.
