Sky Reporter Gives Take On BZG Statement

There has been no reporting from either Sky Sports or the Chronicle about Peter Redding’s alleged statements from BZG. The statement has however been reported in the Sun and in outlets in Dubai among others.

After being asked on Twitter why there has been no reports of the BZG statement, Keith Downie of Sky Sports simply stated the following:

When questioned on Twitter about the statement at least being worthy of reporting whether true of false, Keith responded with:

He then goes further and asserts that he does not believe the statement because Peter Redding and the avenue used are unreliable:

When further pressed and asked what exactly he doesn’t believe, whether the statement is not from BZG or if BZG are lying, he clarified his initial statement with:

Many Newcastle supporters will feel exactly as Keith Downie does that releasing a statement like this, in this format, is very questionable. However the complete silence by Sky Sports and the Chronicle are very strange to say the least.

Also, I don’t think you want to go by the credo that you will only report what you believe to be true. That is for the audience to decide. And if your network is constantly trotting out the likes of Dennis Wise to pump up Mike Ashley, then you may not be following that credo too well.

Mister Tuff, are you seriously expecting us to believe your garden gnome is ITK?

I mean, barbers yes, inanimate garden ornaments?

    It’s over for Jabba

    We’re strung along enough

He can’t cheapen the brand any further and his customers are wanting to hurt him in anyway they can find

He’s going to find it hard going home or anywhere else without us there

I will be amazed if there is more than 30k v Arsenal. The official attendance will be more than that because of the season ticket sales. I firmly believe there will be far less than at the game. The official attendance compared to the actual attendance will be a source of embarrassment to Ashley and will emphatically show how he is mismanaging the club.

Be interesting to see the actual figures and how Sky try to spin the empty seats. At least ours aren’t pink.

    Bleach the Leech

Regarding idea’s in the fight against Ashley. I posted this idea a few months ago but there wasn’t the interest then to what there is now, it involves targeting the club merchandising. We could adopt the black & white shirt of a grass roots local football club and boycott the Puma shirt, just imagine if we could get this idea off the ground, it could bring great publicity for the cause and bad publicity for Ashley if we could get 1000s of shirts into SJP with free advertising for a different sponsor, Dare we approach JD sports as a sponsor? it would be great publicity for JD, any profit made could be invested into grass roots football, who know’s, the shirt could be iconic .

Just hope he is using us for a war fund for that, his eyes are firmly on real estate and not a failing clothes store….just like the Arcadia group ?

They couldn’t do much at all.

The danger with that is the press spin will be all about the nasty fans etc

It needs to be balanced but prolonged.

The first game of the season is perfect as it’s one of the media darlings so the profile is massive.

Might start bulk buying prawns though, looking like a warm summer I may need new clothes

Does any other team in the world deal with the amount of neglect and lies that we do? Sure, there are always the transfer rumors that are created by journalists thinking 1+1=7 but who else deals with a fake yearly club sale? Who else’s transfer rumors are more focused on who we are keeping instead of who we are buying? Who else treats the news of twitter sources with three followers as if it is the same as the sports ticker on Sky?

We are mugs, we are being abused and taken advantage of and yet we still come back for more and more every season. Unless someone makes Ashley an offer that gives him all the profits from merch with free advertising then we’ll never see the end of him.
Think about it, his main business is a cheap sportswear shop. If he sells us up to an expensive investor he knows the shirts sales would be through the roof and he can’t hide his greed in wanting that part of the pie as well. He wants to sell the club and make a huge profit while still making money from the club far into the future.

    We are stuck with him

dig-n-dig, I like the idea of other shirts. We needn’t focus on one, mind, all pick our local team and buy a shirt of theirs instead of a NUFC one for this coming season. Share the love, give some money to our local clubs at the same time and keep it out of the hands of Sports Direct.

I think we should refuse to buy official Toon tops if Ashley manages to hold on to merchandising rights after a sale, too. There are plenty replica historic tops out there and I’ve got a drawer full of old strips going back 30 years or so.

Would be a shame to get relegated

mentioned that a while back when we were all thinking the hold up may have been over merchandise rights .
my point was fine let him have them for say 2 year deal.
then quietly leek this so everyone simply doesn’t buy any of it . make the shirt the slowest selling puma has ever produced.
Two years up deal over … hello adidas and everyone queuing to get one and put money into the club again.
