The Shields Gazette have noticed that Sheffield Wednesday manager Steve Bruce is now a favorite to become the next Newcastle manager according to some bookies.
This is what they have reported:
The former Sunderland boss is 4/1 on with Sky Bet, 13/8 with Betfair and 15/8 with Paddy Power.
Sky Sports have also just reported that Newcastle are in fact considering Steve Bruce.
The 59-year-old boyhood Toon fan has done the coaching carousel in English Football since he first became manager of Sheffield United in 1998. He has managed 9 different teams in 10 spells having managed Wigan Athletic in 2001 and then again from 2007-2009.
He last coached in the top flight in 2015 when his Hull City side were relegated. He has then had an unsuccessful spell at Aston Villa where he failed to get them promoted prior to joining Sheffield Wednesday.
Bruce was also the manager of Sunderland from 2009-2011 but had his longest term at Birmingham City from 2001 to 2007.
Steve Bruce– with Alan Shearer
In the Premier League, the former Manchester United skipper has quite a poor record. His points per match average is just 1.1 and he has a win percentage of only 28.
We did a report yesterday about how Mike Ashley only hires unattached managers or promotes from within. Bruce joined Sheffield Wednesday just this past February and did quite well. So, hopefully, they will want to keep hold of him.
Here In The City also noticed yesterday that Steve’s son Alex has started to follow Newcastle United on Instagram. So let’s hope that is just a coincidence.

MA. I want to know wot it’s wurf.
FB. Well it’s over 120 years old and it’s certainly had an amazing history, it’s come through some dark times and in it’s heyday it was priceless. It’s looking very grubby now though. What happened?
MA. Well I got it for a bargain 12 years ago and I’ve taken a dump in it from every possible angle since. Still some foreign fella offered £350m for it a while ago
FB. It’s not worth anything like that in this state!
MA. It’s alright I’m still pretending to sell it to him, might push for more money and then smash it with a hammer.

I was wrong the jet from Boston isn’t the only arrival scheduled at Farnborough today, there is one other.
This one is flying in from Luton Airport at 3pm and the listed owner is TVPX ARS INC TRUSTEE the same company that own the jet which flew from Dubai to Newcastle to Luton to Boston.
Waiting there for Sheikh Khaled to arrive?
Captain AmeriMag thinks YES!!

Comment #47Simon Jordan – who always reminds us that he completely understands Newcastle fans because he lived next door to Douglas and Freddie in Spain, giving him far more insight than actually supporting us; because he knows more about anything than anyone in the history of the world anyway – will now demand we stfu because not only is Bruce ‘one of us’ but he’s had experience destroying one NE club already.
And to think, we were worried eh lads? The oracle has spoken.

what makes you two such experts on our fans when you don’t even know how many turn up!!
the capacity is 52200 the away fans enclosure is 3500 we only had 2 full house in all of last season , you don’t have clue how many season ticket holders have renewed you dont even know how many season ticket holders we have.
the pair of you seem hell bent on calling the fans and seem to be taking great pleasure from it, that seems to be your sole objective in posting on here ,

Comment #51More chance of Robert the Bruce
It’s already been stated that NUFC don’t want to pay compo to any club, want a Premier League experienced manager and some one currently in between clubs.
Bruce is none of the above.
A win ratio of 38.5% with a random selection of low performing clubs is not what’s needed.
The betting odds are fixed to deflect attention away from the real target and that allows those in the know probably including Ashley to have a bet on longer odds that make them some petty cash while having some fun at the expense of others.
Sky notice the betting trends and report that, nothing else to report. Clever these pundits. Your granny could do better.
Three days before they fly to China the team don’t need an uninspiring appointment to meet them at departures.
What they need is to meet an inspiring appointment at arrivals.
Go figure.

Comment #61If we DO get a takeover – I’d expect a big name manager to be appointed.
If that doesn’t happen I think Moyes would be the best of what’s available.
I still think Moyes did a good job at Everton & West Ham.
He wasn’t given enough time at Man United! But they seem to think they have a God given right to win everything at that club!

52 k haven’t accepted it which obviously tells me you don’t go to games .The attendance has dropped season in season out and many regulars have dropped away including me.The crowd is made up of a lot of casual attendees and day-trippers now, And with the latest fascicle going on at the club it is clear that fans have had enough.
So maybe join fellow fans in protesting rather than alienating and divide and conquer as Ashley wants might serve you well than coming out with bollocks like that

Comment #72Hibbit, well said – I was getting slightly irked by that nonsense.
I’m convinced we’ll see big gaps and a very low crowd on the opening weekend, unless we’re bought. Even if we’re bought I think the crowds might stay away unless the owners manage to do something to grab the fans’ attention.

Comment #80Does anyone know if the “Attendance” is calculated by “Clicks” on the turnstiles or by tickets sold?
I imagine if it’s by tickets sold the Attendance will show as a lot higher than from clicks from the turnstiles!!!
