Rafa Benitez Returns To Writing On His Blog With Dig At Newcastle Hierarchy

In his first blog post in five years, Rafa Benitez has written about his first week at Dalian Yifang. In a blog post entitled My first seven days – what an experience, Rafa details his first week at the Chinese club.

Of interest to Newcastle fans, there was as section where he wrote about his great new relationship with the Chairman, President, and General Manager of Dalian Yifang. That section of the blog was titled “Warm Welcome”.

This is what Rafa Benitez writes:

As we all know from experience, in football, just as in everyday life, when people show you respect and affection and do everything they can to make things easier for you, life is much happier, even when you face difficult moments. I must say that I have had more meetings with the Chairman, the President and the General Manager this week, than I had in 3 years at Newcastle. They haven’t just been work meetings, rather signs of respect in which we have been able to appreciate the differences and similarities in our cultures.

Well this paragraph really says it all. Rafa may be exaggerating a bit, but if he is, it is not by much. Rafa was not treated with respect by Mike Ashley. He was treated like expendable dirt which is how Ashley treats the fans of the club.

It does look like Rafa has moved on but may have a little anger left inside that is still eating at him. We really don’t blame him. He suffered from the same lack of communication and lies that the fans have had to endure for the past twelve years.

So Rafa has returned to writing on his blog. If the latest entry is anything to judge by, it should be interesting to follow.

    Ashley is purposely wasting time so ther will be only enuf time left to buy 1 or 2 players

    And he’l b away with all the tv mony to buy game

    Money that the club is supposed to get to keep up with other premier league teams who are spending up on 100m per season

    As it stands we r being outspent by championship teams and only for rafa thats wer wed b right now

    Ashley will learn that this season when we drop like a lead balloon but by then it wil b too late and wel b in a weaker position that alot of championship sides too

    We are heading for a disaster and im sorry to say but anybody who keeps giving to ashley by going is facilitating what hes doin

    We need to unite and drive this mongrel out for good

    watching the ITV debate… To refashion one of the questions and put it to Ashley:

    Will we have a deal / no deal before the end of the transfer window? If not by when?

    MA is a gambler. He wants to sell for the absolute max (and possibly hang on to advertising and merchandising rights) and is waiting for the buyer to blink first and accept. Problem with a gambler is they always think of the win and forget about the downside – the downside being while he waits for the deal his club has lost a great manager (worth how many points over a season?) and also lost 2 strikers (worth how many goals and points over a season?). The club is worth less today than it was in June (because the chances of relegation are way higher than before) and this is what the buyer will see but MA will say the balance sheet hasn’t changed and so the club is still worth the same! Bottom line is any buyer would be mad to buy a dysfunctional club in July (unless the price is dropped) – so I reckon MA will have to blink first and either drop his price or keep the club and suddenly spend money to avoid relegation.

    Happy for someone to point out if my logic is wrong

    STEVE BRUCE ‘UNDER CONSIDERATION’ TO BE NEXT NEWCASTLE MANAGER
    A Newcastle United fan coalition have called for supporters to boycott St James’ Park this season in protest against Mike Ashley and the way the club is run.

    In a new statement released jointly by the Magpie Group, the Ashley Out group, If Rafa Goes We Go and online sites NUFC360 and Empty For Ashley, they say supporters “will no longer stand idly by” against what it calls “disrespect” towards the city and an “obsessed fanbase”.

    The group will mobilise around the tag “Boycott Arsenal” and “Boycott St James’ Park” and say their initial aim to “mobilise supporters to boycott the Arsenal game”. The intention is to “send a message” to both United and the Premier League by not attending fixtures. The campaign say they are working on city centre pub deals to ensure fans can still have a match day experience while making their point.

    Newcastle United: Latest news
    General view outside the stadium prior to the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Liverpool FC at St. James Park on May 04, 2019
    Newcastle United have work to do this summer with a new manager to find – and new signings before next month’s deadline.

    The Empty for Ashley Twitter account has accrued over 3,000 followers but the problem for supporters has always been translating anger into anything sustained or visible to make their point. Periodic flashes of anger at the club have not tended to hurt attendances noticeably.

    But the new group claim this can be different and there have been reports of fans cancelling season tickets in protest against this summer’s depressing developments. With the club unlikely to release season ticket numbers, it will be difficult to gauge the exact numbers until the first game of the season but anger is growing at the way the club’s summer has progressed.

    So far Rafa Benitez has left at the expiry of his contract, Ayoze Perez has been sold to Leicester and the club are the only one in the Premier League yet to sign a player.

    Here is the statement in full :

    “Dear supporters of Newcastle United Football Club,

    If you go to the match this season you are not in the wrong; Mike Ashley is.

    If you boycott televised games you are not in the wrong; Mike Ashley is.

    If you boycott the Arsenal game and St. James Park for the rest of the season you are not in the wrong; Mike Ashley is.

    Ashley is wrong for this club and he is wrong if he thinks he has a future here.

    He does not give or build, he only knows how to take and throw his weight around. His bottom-line approach will see this club fail. Perhaps not this season nor the next but we will do nothing except circle the bowl and it will be slow, painful and totally needless.

    What we need is a message. Not just to Ashley but also to the Premier League and football as a whole, that this man is toxic. Your brand will be tarnished and your product degraded.

    The ‘best league in the world’ seeming tolerant of a club existing solely to promote one of the country’s most loathed brands. We need him gone from our club.

    Many will say it’s impossible to achieve, that he doesn’t care what we do or say or think but what is it we’ve criticised Ashley for most? A lack of ambition. Now it’s time we

    become the counterweight – the ultimate display of ambition. Wor flags set records, just look what our fans are capable of.

    Each of us wants to be stood shoulder to shoulder, United in voice for our club so let’s get ambitious. Let’s change the narrative. Let’s show what can happen when you disrespect a city, a community, a passionate, obsessed fanbase.

    To this end, we call on all NUFC supporters to show the world that we will not take it lying down, that we will no longer stand idly by. The first step is to boycott the Arsenal game…

    #BoycottArsenal

    To all fans of Newcastle United FC and all media outlets. Due to the ongoing situation at our great club, we would like to confirm that the following groups are now working together:

    @IfRafaGoesWeGo

    @emptyforashley

    @TheMagpieGroup_

    @AshleyOutdotcom

    @Mike_Ashley_Out

    @NUFC360

    @LondonMagpies

    @maintainSJP

    @NWMagpies

    Our initial aim is to mobilise a boycott of the Arsenal game (#BoycottArsenal) on the 11th of August with details and plans to boycott future games to be announced in the coming weeks. This is step one in our plan to starve Mike Ashley of the thing he desires most:

    #BoycottSJP

    That’s why we will be focusing on a full boycott of matchday activities at St James’ Park going forward and this will be our mantra until the club has new ownership.

    We, collectively, will not be putting another penny in Mike Ashley’s hands and so we have effectively banned ourselves from entering SJP, Nine bar, the club shop or any Sports Direct store nationwide.

    We are in the process of organising protests at Sports Direct branches nationwide. More details will follow .

    Boycotting is the hardest decision any of us will likely ever make regarding NUFC. We will still support the club and follow them at away games but this no longer feels like ‘our’ club and it is time to make a stand.

    We are working tirelessly to find alternatives for fans during boycotted games which we explain below.

    #SupportOurToon

    We are very happy to announce that we have the support of many local businesses, some of whom are offering special deals on match days for food and drink to fans who boycott the games. This list is ever-growing so please follow the hashtag #SupportOurToon on twitter to keep updated.

    More specific details to follow. This is why we are using the #SupportOurToon hashtag so fans can still enjoy the pre-and post-matchday experience whilst also supporting our local bars, pubs, clubs and restaurants.”

    To think we were all hoping for the best summer ever with Ashley selling and a billionaire sheikh taking over. 10 new superstars players and Benitez signing a 5 year extension.

    Instead Benitez left, no takeover, no manager, no new players and the same fat stingy slug in place. Not to forget all his lack of communication and spending.

    I honestly think there’s not a single premier League team whos had a worse summer than us.

    Man united fans think they have it bad cause they can’t win trophies anymore. We lucky to escape relegation or to win games.

    World opinion leaders are now jumping in with their views, incredible.
    Just waiting for Emmerson and Lake to complete the group view.

    Former Geordie Shore star Greg Lake claims he has heard two bits of good news for Newcastle United as he drops a cryptic hint over what it might be.
    The Newcastle supporter, who made a name for himself on MTV’s reality show based in the city, claims on his personal Twitter account that he’s been told positive news is on the way for the Magpies, suggesting that it could well break this week.

    Being in our kitchen and the TV on in another room, i heard Johnson’s voice followed by laughter from the Tory audience. They weren’t laughing at him but at whatever ‘funnies’ he’s uttering. It beggars belief that the ignorant fckers can treat the prospect of a Trump-liking bombast as light entertainment.

    What with Ashley screwing us over and the likelihood of Johnson crawling up Trump’s backside, this’ll prove to be one of the worst summers ever.

    At the moment, we definitely are heading towards a third relegation in Ashley’s time. What else needs to be done before us fans actually act out and start doing something.

    Boycotting arsenal game and games in general is a start, but there’s some fans who won’t even do that. We have to take our club back.

    50,000 fans standing outside sport direct shops at game time, blocking anybody from entering in protest. This is what we should be doing.
