Mohamed Diame has finally found a new club. He will join Qatar Stars League club Al Ahli on a two-year deal after failing to secure a lucrative move to another Qatari club.
Here is the official tweet from his new club.

Two weeks ago the news was that Diame was about sign a massive £100,000/week contract with Al Gharafa. He was expected to join former Newcastle target Vladimir Weiss and former Dutch international Wesley Sneijder at the club.
Incidentally, Al Gharafa has just signed former Fulham coach Slavisa Jokanovic to be their manager so they must be willing to spend big to get players and coaches to join them.
Sources in Qatar says Mo Diame arrived Doha to join Al Gharafa SC.

However, the Diame to Al Gharafa news then went silent and no announcement was made of a deal. But it looks like he may have failed his medical at Al Gharafa.
DONE DEAL: Mo Diame signs for Al Ahli on a two-year deal.

Mo Diame will leave Newcastle after falling one start short of triggering a contract extension for another season with the Magpies. The way things are shaping up, it looks like we certainly could use him this season.
His experience and also familiarity with Steve Bruce from his time at Hull City might have proved invaluable.
We wish Mohamed Diame the best of luck in Qatar and hope he does well for his new club.

Comment #4To be honest the joke has definitely been on us over the summer – oh middle east billionaires are gonna buy us and maybe Rafa or mourinho taking charge – we’re gonna challenge top 4 … Random WhatsApp messages , Twitter ramblings and helicopter watch and we lapped it up … End up with Ashley / charnley and agent Bruce with suckacock Nolan as no2 – kin hilarious so I’m not sure why I’m depressed

Comment #10Good luck Mo, unplayable when in Beast Mode. That became less and less frequent over the course of last season, but I’ll never forget you teaching Pogba a lesson in how to play footy the season before when Mourinho had to sub him off.

Comment #11It’s sad that I’m getting more joy at seeing where our former players are going that what our club is doing. We’ll string alone during preseason with no incomings and in the last week we’ll sign a loan player that never sees the field or the next joselu that we’ll be labored with for years to come.
Anyone know what Xisco is up to? Maybe Sol Campbell can come back?

Hes probably already agreed, we’ll find out on monday more than likely
If correct, he should have 50mil plus 30 plus Joselus 3mil. 83 mil minus the compensation

Comment #14Slo mo, under rafas guidance, improved over his time with us and did a decent enough job… never a world beater but decent on his day. Look at the players who improved under Rafa or did a job beyond what you would expect of them and their price tag …. lascelles, dummett, Hayden, manquillo, Perez arguably Shelvey, Ritchie, and loan players like Rondon and Kennedy (first season) who reckons cauliflower heed will have our players performing above expectations … me neither.

Comment #15It might even be tomorrow MarkBro. I hate to think it but possible. They are getting ready for the China trip and it’s best to give him a couple of days to settle in. Nolan is an odd one. Would never have sussed him as an Ashley licker. Beardo was a bit as well.

Comment #20Who knows, tge player might enjoy playing under cauliflower.
A few player during games looked unhappy under Rafa.
Perez said recently he gives up a lot for the sake of the team, Almiron does more defending than attacking, same as richie.
Our squad mightget more freedom now but probably not the points ?

Comment #21I would like to see any geordie manage this team and would be willing to eat my words if he was a success…i just dont believe he is manager clued up on on new tactics, training…”new management style”…basically a dinosaur….i also believe players dont respect him and therefore dont give there all,he doesn’t install confidence or fear…all the teams he’s managed lately have struggled….if he gets it… good luck, but i believe its another train wreck waiting to happen….hes letting his heart rule his head…when every other half decent managers are running a mile from this poison chalice…. he’s running towards it believing everything is rosey.

The reason right now… not Ashley but all the spineless brain dead fans who will still go to games buy the shirts.
Embarrassing
I honestly believe it’s just so they have an excuse to get out on the lash on a weekend and the odd midweek p1ss up.
If you’re one of the fans renewing your ticket buying the be shirt… then I hate you as much as Ashley…. you’re exactly the reason we get so much stick from the football world

Comment #26MarkBro, I think this Summer we’ll finally have a decent budget. There’s still a lot of players out there who could improve our squad and who we could probably bid for, probably those who would fit Ashley’s criteria, too.
The stupid, ridiculous, thing is that we also had a World class coach who had identified which areas of the team needed money spent, had started scouting in those areas, had a plan for continuous development and would have used that money wisely.
Instead, we’re apparently about to give it to a fella with a potato for a head.

First, Bruce never even crossed my mind and wouldn’t make my top 10 but if he gets it I’ll give him a chance and hope he does well.
Second, all this crap about people only doing something for the money. IT’S A JOB, of course they do it for the money, same as any of us. Rafa was here for the money, he was just clever enough to say the right things and convince the fans he loved them and the club.
Last, more crap people spout about people being a yes man. If you don’t say yes to your boss you don’t have a job any more. They’re all yes men.

Comment #37We’ve known all along that Ashley and his PR buddies were having a laugh so were never fooled by their antics so they’ve not got one up on us or fooled anyone. Waste of time and effort for their tiny minds.
However if a deal does go through then they can claim to have got one up on us and can tell us ‘told you so”.
Can live with that.
Think about it.

Comment #38I absolutely don’t believe there will be a big or even reasonable spend this summer. You don’t pick your manager out of the bargain bin, then spend big. He’ll be lucky to get all the player sale money. In fact I’ll predict right now he won’t get all of the money from the players sold. It’ll be another case of stalling til the end of the window and grabbing a couple of loans.
