Poll On Steve Bruce As Local Journalists Verify Him As Likely Next Manager

Mark Douglas of the Chronicle has tweeted confirmation of earlier reports from the Telegraph that Steve Bruce’s appointment is very close and barring an unexpected turn, very likely.

This is what Mark Douglas has tweeted:

Keith Downie has also reported that colleague Richard Graves has seen Steve Bruce leaving Hillsborough this morning. Sheffield Wednesday staff and players reportedly have the day off today.

It is looking very much like Steve Bruce will be the next manager at Newcastle United. While this is extremely raw right now, we will put out a poll on this potential appointment.

We expect the response to be very much in the negative as this is quite a shock at the moment. We have gone with the question of supporting Steve Bruce rather than being happy with him as the choice.

Would You Support Steve Bruce As The Next Manager Of Newcastle United?

Neil – thanks for running the poll.

Lesh – the idea behind the poll was to at least get it on the airwaves as to the support for Bruce – not for the benefit of Mr Tubbs but a forlorn hope the Bruce would see it and decide now is not the time.

Interesting the results so far – big majority do not want him – but a sizeable group do.
Difficult to say whether his Geordie credentials have gained him support here.

At least now there exists a poll on the subject – will the Chronic run one?

They even changed the law to let them look at documents Thornton had
I’m guessing you also choose to ignore that
Your probably ignore the bill currently in parliament that’s meant to deal with owners like Jabba letting the do a forensic audit of the accounts

Yes, that’s what you get if you don’t do your job as an auditor. Not great if your whole existence is based on auditing. You can not assume Grant Thornton are falsely “verifying” Mash Holding’s accounts. You also need to realise that HMRC just will not allow the type of activity you and others are talking about.

Embarrassed : Surely you should do some homework before you put out lines such as ‘Grant Thornton are in the business of auditing companies. Their whole existence depends on them being honest’
They are under investigation by the FRC for thier auditing of Patisserie Valerie for three years revealed “significant, and potentially fraudulent” accounting irregularities.

You couldn’t make it up, 😀

Also Mike Ashley has also many times been found giving contracts at inflated costs to his friends and family.
He’s taking free advertising – thats money the club should be getting

    Can’t wait for Bruce interview.

I guess he’d say it was his dream to manage his hometown club. He’s a Geordie. He came here for project. Will do his best to win a cup and finish as high as possible in the league. And then abit of Ashley arse licking.

4 weeks left to transfer window closure and we appoint bruce who will have zero say on transfers. Roll on the championship. Us not finishing 20th will be a miracle.

Again it’s an actual case the HMRC are pursuing, once they get Thornton they will be able to prove Jabba helped his brother avoid paying tax on those undisclosed payments
They changed the law about that too not so long ago

But I’m sure you know about that to

I’m not claiming Bruce is better than Rafa and despite my wind ups I’ve never stopped saying I want Ashley out since I came back on this blog a few weeks ago.

However, that doesn’t mean I’ve got to go on, and on, and on, and on, and on…. calling Ashley a FCB, slimey, greedy slug fest to get my anti-MA stance across.

Nor does it mean I can’t make valid points about Rafa’s tactics and be seen as a Rafa hater.

Rafa did a fantastic job and I wish he was still here. But he’s not.

What wasn’t fantastic about Rafa was his style of football which would have got the likes of Allardyce, Pardew, and McClaren dogs of abuse.

Rafa got away with it because the fans, including me, always had total confidence that he’d keep us in the Prem and THAT more than anything plus his reputation saved him from abuse for his tactics.

But…. an average of 38% possession at home was dire, and awful to watch at times, especially against the likes of Cardiff, Huddersfield and Brighton.

And I still can’t understand why we had the worst goals from dead ball stats when Rafa was touted as a defensive master.

If Bruce improves those two stats it’s a start.

Tom 1664 I kind of agree with you. Other teams are doing better even with lower income streams. This is something we can’t be happy about. I am not sure how much deadwood some of these other sides have, and what the wage bill actually is. The main point though is the money is not being sucked back out by MA. (up to year end 2017-18). The current year could be completely different of course, but we won’t be able to check on that until next year.

In part of the 19% who voted to support, for reasons I mentioned earlier (page 3). But I won’t go to a game, support any boycott and want Ashley out of my club.

Don’t assume just because the wording of the poll doesn’t allow for those of us who are unhappy with the appointment but aren’t willing to slaughter Bruce the second he walks out into the dugout, that we’re actually in favour of this.

    I hate the appointment.
    I don’t support it.
But if Bruce does his job well enough I won’t be calling for his head.

It doesn’t matter who the manager is now while Ashley’s still in charge. He’s got to be removed.

    TV money disappeared last season
Players sold over Installments which should equate to 30 or 40 million every season available for new players just vanishes
Fun 88 and all the other sponsorship money never spent on the club
4th lowest wage bill in the league

What a load of guff, the clubs about to implode and you’re talking about stats.

I’ll help you out, or squad is average at best and most including you rate them a lot higher than they should.

The only reason we didn’t concide more goals in all areas of play was Rafa had the team really well drilled, Bruce will do funk all to improve either stat.

Perfect timing to be on the wind up, are you not Bruces son?
