Sam Allardyce Confirms He Turned Down Newcastle

On talkSport, Sam Allardyce has confirmed the report from the Daily Mail that he has indeed been offered and rejected the Newcastle’s manager position.

This is what Sam has said to talkSport.

We just really don’t know what to say. Nothing personal to Sam Allardyce but he is just nowhere near the level this club should be pursuing. That is with personal history aside.

Steve Bruce is now the top candidate, you can bet your lives on that. He is a decent and honest man. After this news, we feel it would be in his best interest to stay as far away from Newcastle as possible.

This club’s hierarchy was gifted Rafa Benitez three years ago. It was not down to them that we had a world class manager.

It was a bored and available Rafa Benitez who pursued the job three years ago not the other way around.

Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley don’t have the ability to identify what is needed for this club. Which is why we have been relegated twice under them and struggle for survival 90% of the time.

Rafa and Sam– no comment necessary

Just when you think it can’t get any worse. We really have to question not only the competence of the people who run this club, but also the state of their morality.

Are they doing this on purpose? Do we have sadistic sociopaths running this club?

We can’t tell if they are just completely incompetent and trying their limited best, or if they are truly callous villains taking vengeance on the fans.

You just can’t tell and that is truly horrifying. Not even Sam Allardyce thought he was a good choice for the position.

Just an unbelievable turn of events after we have already witnessed the inconceivable this summer. What is next?

Nothing is off the table with this lot. We have to fully expect the worst possible decisions. There is no more of “well they wouldn’t do that”.

They are capable of anything. They are capable of things that will leave this fan base begging for Steve Bruce to join.

Every manager should turn the job down and try to force the fatmans hand!

His agent asked him if he wanted it… he said no. Doesn’t mean there was an actual approach

    “Its either him or us”
    To a deserted stadium.
Thats a clear message to the world.

Now i am not one for conspiracy theories but this Sam Allardyce situation reeks of PR and self promotion.
Wouldn’t be surprised if the “info” was leaked by Sam himself. On top of that he will now get plenty of headlines and interview slots for the next week or two, all knowing that NUFC official line will be “no comment”.
The guy is a bum who has proven he will sell his integrity for anything.

I am still hopeful for a takeover and I think that Ashley is playing a game of brinkmanship with BZG.

I think Big Fat Sam’s talking out his Big Fat Arse!!

Clever on his part really, he knows the club won’t comment so he can claim he was approached, say he’s all about looking forward (code for “hello I’m available!”) and boom he’s back to being relevant in the managerial merry go round.

Even if Charnlie came out and rubbished his claim no one would believe him! Well played Large Samuel, well played.

@danishmag I stay optimistic because of the official silence from all parties and the private jet activity from all the relevant destinations.

With flight N9895 landing in Luton this morning and Ashley’s jet landing there yesterday, all the players in the game are together again. Hopefully for the last time.

Today or tomorrow is the Endgame for sure. Either Bruce is appointed or the takeover is announced.

I’m still firmly in the takeover camp and I’ll hold on to that beautiful dream till the very end!!

Takeover is now dead in the water, should of been confirmed last week!

NUAC (Newcastle United Ashley’s Club) are looking for defensive managers just to keep us in the PL and for him to reap the £ every season.

Our best players will be sold on soon, either this window or January, we need to stand together this time, no more I’ll go to the matches to chant MA name bollix.

An empty stadium is the answer, in fact it’s the only answer, not directing at his tacky shops, but at NUFC itself.

Mike is here for the money, we need to hit him there, an empty stadium leads to no coverage due to sky international coverage, less matches for Newcastle shown, less money for Mike.

We succeed in this Mike will sell the club at a discount rate (sorry had to put that in lol)

IF the ground is full on the Arsenal game, I won’t be calling them fans (obviously they enjoy the way we are being run) and I believe those will also be a target by loyalty fans.

Remember the world cup and how businesses and local councils help giant TV to watch the matches? This may need to be brought back in just to show arrogance towards Mike and HIS club (yeah not our club anymore!)

It is all an absolute disgrace. The ‘hunt for a manager’ shouldn’t even be entertained as the only focus should be on how Ashley should be removed from the club – until he’s gone.

The Bin Zayed Group’s statements I think we’re genuine and they were trying to be transparent, but Ashley is the obstacle, and if he changes the goal posts again last minute (i.e. stringing them along), there’s nothing they can do but walk away from an unwilling and horrid seller.

He should be allowed nowhere near a football club. The fit and proper process by the Premier League is a joke if conmen like this can repeatedly run a club into the ground to simply have their logo on tv – because that is what it all comes down to for him.

Let’s hope that if others are approached they also make it public that they have turned the job down. Rafa can help in that, if potential suitors get in touch with him looking for advice. Let’s also hope they get in touch with another unemployed fall guy such as Pardew next and he also tells the parasite to stuff it.

We don’t want a new manager, we want a new owner!!!

Going to be a long hard season basically hoping we get tanked every game until Mashley finally chucks his hand in. If this is the environment Steve Bruce or any other out-of-work manager is willing to step into for a million or two of Mashley’s money, good luck to them. But don’t expect any flags or rapturous support like Rafa received because the job is a poisoned chalice under this regime and an horrendous season is not on’t what we will get, it’s what we need. Mashley Out at any cost.

How hard is it to get a manager.
Derby had no bother getting Lampard.
They had no bother getting his replacement Cocu.
We can’t get a decent proper manager as everyone knows we are owned by a nut job.
A nut job who surrounds himself with fellow nut jobs.
    *************************************************************
It should be remembered that Rafa found Newcastle. Not the other way round.
Sadly I feel Rafa and we the supporters gave Ashley the break he needed.
A return to Prem Money with little spent.
I wish we had not bothered. This melt down would have happened 3 years ago and he would have been gone by now.
Every last penny. From now on we make our own luck. Bollocks.

Boycott, Boycott, Boycott, it’s the only true way to screw over Mike Ashley in the first game of the season. On TV, half empty stadium total and utter disgrace for Sky Sports, or even better a few thousand fans sit in the middle of the pitch and say fcuk you Ashley, this is our club we are one army.

They say there’s no such thing as bad publicity. SD will soon be finding out the hard way whether being attached to a self-created laughing stock and suffering an empty stadium with regular and concerted protests outside the ground and their retail outlets is good for global branding. Stay Hyem for the Toon!

Whichever chump comes in to “manage” I use the term loosely, is going to need to invest in some pope style armoured perspex for the dugout..

As Much as Allardyce says he respects the fans and Ashley, you can read what you will into what respect he has for Ashley actually means That could be translated into next to none!

Ashley’s screwed up big time but he’ll ride the storm as as with previous relegations, it’ll cost him nothing – he’ll load more debt onto the club.

Vocal protest would have zero impact on Ashley, silent boycott is needed, just staying away is likely the only thing that might have impact… look at this from Shell Wed Owls blog in a discussion about Bruce.
