The following tweet has lit a bit of a firestorm on Twitter as now many accounts are reporting that Sean Longstaff is leaving Newcastle imminently.
Newcastle are on the verge of parting with Sean Longstaff to Manchester United #mulive [guardian]
— utdreport (@utdreport) July 11, 2019
We looked at the Guardian report on this breaking news but it was an afterthought in an article about Steve Bruce’s pending announcement as the next Newcastle manager.
This is what Paul Wilson writes in the second to last paragraph of an article titled “Steve Bruce close to taking Newcastle job after asking to hold talks”.
Newcastle spent most of last season in the bottom third of the Premier League, eventually saved by Benítez’s organisational ability and goals from Ayoze Pérez and Salomón Rondón, though all three have left along with the out-of-contract midfielder Mohamed Diamé. No players have been signed, and Newcastle are on the verge of parting with the midfield prospect Sean Longstaff to Manchester United.
There is only one mention of Sean Longstaff’s name in the entire article and it is that “Newcastle are on the verge of parting with the midfield prospect Sean Longstaff to Manchester United”.
That is the only reference to Sean Longstaff. The entire article is about Steve Bruce and Sam Allardyce. We would have thought this news would have warranted its own article.
This is after reports yesterday from Sky Sports that Sean Longstaff was categorically not for sale.
There were high-level talks last weekend between Manchester United and Newcastle United about Sean Longstaff. Newcastle won't confirm there were talks but we understand Newcastle categorically not interested in selling Longstaff & and see him as a big part of their future plans
— Kaveh Solhekol (@SkyKaveh) July 10, 2019
There was also a report in the Manchester Evening News that Sean Longstaff was behind other midfielders at the moment.
With the information available to us, we are going to err on the side of being positive on this one and hope that Longstaff remains at the club. It would just break the laws of physics for Steve Bruce to come in as Sean Longstaff exits for Manchester United.

If Bruce gets the job and it’s a big IF as there’s no news then he speaks the same language as Longstaff,Geordie.
If he goes to Manchester’s B team then he’d have to learn Norwegian and that’s a beggar of a language to learn.
What’s the betting on an announcement – one way or the other 10am tomorrow at SJP ?
That would suggest Bruce is tucked up at Shearer’s crib which is where I believe footballers live these days. Can’t they live in a house like the rest of us.

Comment #13Is there any houses on Ashley’s street we can rent?
We can all chip in and have weekends there and if you’re working in the area stay there, rent it out for biker parties.
I’m sure we’ll make lovely neighbours.

Comment #17Attention please! This is an official club statement: There will be no parachute milking at this club. We have just hired a world class manager…..errrm what’s his name again, I have it here somewhere. Ahhh yes, we’ve just hired a world class manager a Mr. Steve Bruce who will ensure our continued dominance of the Premier League so parachute milking will be completely unnecessary. Details to follow…….

Comment #19Lochinvar; his first press conference will be interesting.
What will he say to motivate the fan base?
What can he say?
Ashley has achieved something. I’ve never now such vitriol at the club towards an individual since Gordon Lee.
He is probably the most hated man ever to be associated with the club.

Rondon

Possibly Hayden
Kennedy away
So 3 midfielders 1 winger and 2 strikers needed to just be equal to last season !?!
I guess Colback Lazaar Aaron’s Saviet and Gayle replace a lot of them then? Bit of a downgrade in quality though

Comment #25Charnley says he’s looking for premiership experience to cover the fact he doesn’t know anything about other managers. The big flaw in looking for experience is that those with experience who have done well are generally at big clubs. Only those who’ve failed time and time again are available. And the British dinosaur managers who haven’t been seen for a few years haven’t been getting better in the meantime, they’ve been left behind and every year the gap between Moyes/ Hughes/ bruce and the latest foreign bosses gets bigger. They weren’t premier league quality five years ago and now they’re barely championship quality

Comment #28I think this is the lowest I have ever felt supporting NUFC. No wonder Nolan was singing Ash’s praises. Talk about being bought off!!
The oh so mediocre agent Bruce with Nolan who got sacked quite early doors from his only manager’s job. It is just so laughingly and appallingly bad. From Rafa, an elite multi trophy winning manager, to an absolute never achieving journeyman nobody……..sickening!!
It’s obvious Ashley will never sell. He’ll always move the goalposts no matter what, he’ll always want the residuals and something for nowt. Sadly I think doing a Sunderland is the only way to ever rid ourselves of him. even then i wouldn’t count on it.
I don’t know if it is sheer incompetence or bloody minded spiteful malice, when ash wouldn’t back a top guy who wasn’t asking the earth but will likely give bruce a mclaren type war chest. Go figure.

Jul 11, 2019 at 7:12 PM
Comment #29These dinosaur types only ever survived the drop when there were an abundance of outdated British managers. Now the likes of pardew and pulis have gone, Bruce has no chance of staying up. Bruce was even worse than pardew, pulis, Hughes, Moyes.

Comment #31We’ll never be sold, the only time he will leave is when he dies.
Relegation to league 2 won’t work because he will pay the money to get us back up as he has demonstrated in the past
He has divided our club into around 350 companies, how hard do you think it would be to negotiate that off him?
That gravy train will run keep him doshed up for years

Comment #33Look how good Villa did when they replaced Bruce with an inexperienced manager. Wed be better off getting somebody who has been doing OK in the championship than somebody who has been struggling in that league. This is worse than McLaren, at least he had done a so-so job at derby when we rescued him. Bruce is getting worse each year. Hell be a crap league one manager soon.

Comment #34Let’s take another look at this. What is the plan here? Is it to guarantee failure? I can’t see entrusting Bruce with a significant kitty after what happened with McLaren. So is there going to be no real kitty? I definitely see a couple of loan players in our future though. Nice and cheap and no real commitment.

This is what I posted last night.
A list of companies that the parasite owns or has shares in.
Target every one of them on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc. Give priority to the companies that he doesn’t own 100% as the other shareholders will then suffer and are likely to put pressure on him to sell the club.
Spend your online time productively, hammering everything that he makes money from.
I’ll get a list of the various brands soon, as they can also be targetted.
Sports Direct. 61.5%
House of Fraser 100%
Evans Cycles. 100%
