The following tweet has lit a bit of a firestorm on Twitter as now many accounts are reporting that Sean Longstaff is leaving Newcastle imminently.
Newcastle are on the verge of parting with Sean Longstaff to Manchester United #mulive [guardian]
— utdreport (@utdreport) July 11, 2019
We looked at the Guardian report on this breaking news but it was an afterthought in an article about Steve Bruce’s pending announcement as the next Newcastle manager.
This is what Paul Wilson writes in the second to last paragraph of an article titled “Steve Bruce close to taking Newcastle job after asking to hold talks”.
Newcastle spent most of last season in the bottom third of the Premier League, eventually saved by Benítez’s organisational ability and goals from Ayoze Pérez and Salomón Rondón, though all three have left along with the out-of-contract midfielder Mohamed Diamé. No players have been signed, and Newcastle are on the verge of parting with the midfield prospect Sean Longstaff to Manchester United.
There is only one mention of Sean Longstaff’s name in the entire article and it is that “Newcastle are on the verge of parting with the midfield prospect Sean Longstaff to Manchester United”.
That is the only reference to Sean Longstaff. The entire article is about Steve Bruce and Sam Allardyce. We would have thought this news would have warranted its own article.
This is after reports yesterday from Sky Sports that Sean Longstaff was categorically not for sale.
There were high-level talks last weekend between Manchester United and Newcastle United about Sean Longstaff. Newcastle won't confirm there were talks but we understand Newcastle categorically not interested in selling Longstaff & and see him as a big part of their future plans
— Kaveh Solhekol (@SkyKaveh) July 10, 2019
There was also a report in the Manchester Evening News that Sean Longstaff was behind other midfielders at the moment.
With the information available to us, we are going to err on the side of being positive on this one and hope that Longstaff remains at the club. It would just break the laws of physics for Steve Bruce to come in as Sean Longstaff exits for Manchester United.

Comment #122All I will say about Bruce is on Wednesday he knew nothing about the speculation but had obviously been looking at the betting while playing the last friendly. He then sat on a flight with his squad and back room staff knowing if the offer came through he was going for it while probably saying to the same people (I’ve no plan to leave I’m staying here) a few hour later meeting up to speak to Ch——— can’t say his-name makes me feel sick. Thursday asks permission by the owner who pulled him off the dole and asks to leave. My opinion is he is a snidey self centred twat who can’t be trusted. He must of read the blogs his family must of spoken to him as well, yet he still puts himself forward for the job. Last words on him he is a total cu-t

Comment #128Of all the potential managers…why Bruce?
It’s not like he’s even out of work. If you’re going to have to pay compensation for someone why not target good successful managers? Or up and coming ones? Try prising away Eddie Howe or someone like that. Bruce makes no sense at all.
If Bruce gets appointed, and there’s no boycott for Arsenal (or we still get 40,000 there) then I’m out. No more blogs, no more watching highlights or live matches. I’m not wasting any time on Ashley’s United. Until he’s gone and it becomes our Newcastle again. I’m not staying in an abusive relationship.

Comment #129Alan Shearer has been very quiet on the Twatter front. He’s normally berating Ashley left tight and centre.
Is he sheltering Bruce while he waits for the priest to perform the exorcism as he’s been taken over by an evil spirit.
Is he talking Bruce out of accepting the job.
Is he hoping Bruce will take the job and give him a new role as part of the deal.
Where is Alex Bruce – last seen getting into a car in Sheffield .
Need to call CrimeBusters and they’ll come up with an efit of Ashley

Dont give up, fight for you club.
Come along and join in.
If there isnt a protest let us on here organise one.
Ill set up an email account to get intouch with me if anyone wants to get involved.
Action needs to be taken now. There is clearly no takeover.
We need to set up outside sjp and keep the momentum going turning up each day.
Im sure between the different protest groups we can get this sorted out.

Comment #136Bruce is nailed on for the job, make no mistake about it!He fits all of Ashley’s criteria. If the slug offered the job to him it would be impossible for him to refuse it under any circumstances. To Bruicie it would be the opportunity of a lifetime, but unfortunately at our demise.

Comment #139There was supposed to be a £50 million budget, plus 11 million carried over from last years budget, plus all money from sales which is £30 million so far. So the transfers fund at the moment is £91 million!
We all know there’s as much chance of us spending that amount as there is of Neymar and Mbappe coming on loan! Zero
Fckin pathetic we’ve got to get Ashley and Charnley Out!

Comment #141Everybody needs to calm down …here is what I am predicting …. Steve Bruce to be announced tomorrow …. 2 key players being sold for profit ….. Some unknown European players being bought in …. Bruce taking charge start of season … Losses and draws at best …fans continue to get on his and Ashley’s back … Bruce after 7 games and 0 wins hands in his resignation as can’t handle the flak aimed at him and the abuse to him and concerns about his safety and mental welfare …. Ashley then repeats the process … Hires a yes man …. Poor results… End of season relegation …. And then takeover goes through

Oh aye, Ashley sees Shaun as the future – future profit!
The kid must be well pi$$ed off, any chance of hitting the big time with his local club, snatched from him by Ashley. That man’s not only screwed Longstaff over but spoiled yet another summer for thousands of fans. He’s evil and doesn’t deserve the air he breaths.

Comment #148From Ashley’s perspective, we already have have a full squad ready to go. Longstaff is spare because we already have Saivet, Colback, Shelvey, Hayden (?). That’s 4 purples for 2 or 3 places (depending on formation. Will be very surprised if Shar doesn’t get sold, more purple CBs than you can shake a stick at. Possibly Rondon in to ease the flack or more likely a young promising forward. We have 2 RBs and 3 LB/WBs.

A list of companies that the parasite owns or has shares in.
Target every one of them on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc. Give priority to the companies that he doesn’t own 100% as the other shareholders will then suffer and are likely to put pressure on him to sell the club.
Spend your online time hammering everything that he makes money from.
I’ll get a list of the various brands soon, as they can also be targetted.

Comment #154chancel “more likely a young promising forward”
Why would a young, promising forward come to NUFC at the moment? If we sell Longstaff, the crown jewel of our youth development programme, what message would that give out?
I think Ashley will be in the market for established names from smaller leagues, the likes of Cisse and Ba. He has to have promised some decent money to Bruce to make him take this position.
Assuming he signs, of course, as oldarse quite rightly points out all we’ve had so far is press speculation.
