Does Steve Nickson Already Have Targets Lined Up And Ready?

North-East correspondent Keith Downie has asserted that he has a feeling Newcastle have some transfer deals already lined up and waiting.

This is what Keith has written for Sky Sports:

The scouting team and Steve Nixon, the head of recruitment, have been working away in the background and my feeling is there are probably a couple of deals already lined up from when Rafa was still in charge.

It will be imperative that Newcastle act quickly on transfers whenever the next manager is announced, whether it is Steve Bruce or not.

Every other club have signed at least one player, with Aston Villa ready to announce their eighth signing of the summer in Manchester City’s Douglas Luiz.

Newcastle are woefully behind and as we saw in the announced squad for the preseason tour, reinforcements are needed in many key areas.

Steve Nickson– targets identified and waiting?

We hope that targets have already been identified, as Keith believes, and at least some contact has been made.

Keith Downie seems to think they do have deals lined up from when Rafa was in charge.

While it doesn’t seem to matter who the manager is at Newcastle in terms of who the club identifies as their targets, it will matter to the targets themselves.

We can’t help but feel it is going to be very hard for Newcastle to attract many quality players this summer without Rafa at the helm.

While we do believe the new manager will have money to spend, the combination of Charnley’s plodding approach and the chaos of this summer could hinder the club’s ability to get transfers over the line.

Laughing my c*ck off if Sheffield Wednesday holds out for a 5m payoff. Can see Ashley walking away from this deal.

The going ons at Ashleys club, (it’s not our club anymore) is laughable.

If Ashley were to float NUFC on the LSE it would be massively oversubscribed and it would be a win win win for EVERBODY concerned.

Ron, ‘he can still do it at this level’ implies signing older players, which will be another piss take having denied Rafa the chance to sign Rondon because of his age.
Seems everything he does now is to annoy us. Steve Bruce ffs? Older players after all that about sell on value? Messing around another buyer after specifically saying proof of funds must be shown before any talks take place?
He can afford to destroy us. Starting to think that’s what he’s doing mate.

Ed and Neil started the takeover rumours just for more traffic on the blog.

Totally untrue but probably the only theory yet to be explored.

Lets get this straight, Ashley forced Rafa out of our club, he is a bitter twisted little man, he couldnt tolerate the fact the fans idolised and loved Rafa, and sang Ashley get out of our club, be under no illusions my fellow toon fans he is a very vindictive and totally twisted excuse for a human being, so lets get to the point he forced Rafa out of our amazing club, Rafa is a world class manager, he is a rolls royce of a manager, so whats he going to do yes replace him with Steve Bruce, so if Rafa is the Rolls Royce the Steve Bruce is a lada, it could only happen under Ashley, i apeal to all Newcastle Fans please please stay away from all home matches this season, i know you all love Newcastle United, and i know your the best fans in England beyond doubt, rember we said if Rafa goes we go, we are just on life support, and we are the only people who can force this blood sucking parasite out of our club, Necastle can not function with out the fan base, we have the keys to the kingdom of Newcastle United not Ashley. it might take a few months but can you imagine the terrible publicity it will cause Ashley and his sports business, and the national media will be all over it, and it would distroy Ashley and his business if he remained at Newcastle. To my fellow Newcastle fans we can do this lets unite together, its time for a bit of short term pain for long term pain, iam confident the Newcastle fans will no longer let this con man wide boy use you for a door mat ever again. You can only do what you can do and let’s hope others follow your example in their droves.

There is an upside to watching the match you’ve boycotted at home.

You can skin up and enjoy it whichever way the match plays out and

Switch the telly off, put your headphones on and have a party.

Bobbybee. Well he’s had that for 12 years. There must be another underlying factor . Was he abused on Tyneside as a child or something like that because he knows nowt about football. Seems to have no connection with the North East. Why on God’s earth would he want to own a football club up in the North East and cause so much mayhem . It beggars belief.

I don’t think the club is or ever has been up for sale. MA has just used 3rd parties as potential buyers, obviously a few quid has been put their way.
Why sell? We’re a fkin gold mine to Ash.
The advertising alone is worth a fortune around the world. He runs the club on the bare minimum. Uses the profits to buy the high Street. I am totally confused at why fans let him walk all over them for all these years.
The FA should clamp down on him.

Pleased I don’t give him my hard earned cash I couldn’t sleep at night if I did!!!!

Stop trying to put blame on BZG.

The common denominator in every NUFC f#ck up is the parasite Mike Ashley!!! If he really wanted to sell the club, it would have been sold by now.

12 years and counting of this repulsive fat parasite draining the club dry ffs!

The fans have it in their power to force him to sell for christ sake!!!

Fast forward 12 months. For whatever reason Toxic Ash finally forced to sell the club to mega rich owners. Rafa returns from China to manage NUFC and everyone lives happily ever after apart from Mike Ashlie.

Hi guys clutching at straws massively here! But do you think there’s any chance that Ashley has released all this to the press about Bruce to force BZG’s hand, in the whole who blinks first episode. That’s why it ain’t been confirmed but making it sound like it’s a done deal to get the sheikh to force it through, so his first job as owner won’t be a severance package to a manager he doesn’t want?

Mike Ashlie would have nowhere to go if the Managers Association backed Rafa and instructed all their members to not apply for any job at NUFC until Toxic Ash had sold the Club. I think that for the most part has happened thus far. Ashlie without a manager is stuffed unless he appoints himself

There were 3 bids from Satevely, George Caulkin (who is the only NE reporter I rate) confirmed this as he seen the bids, they were not accepted by Ashley though, simple fact is for me he has never intended to sell the club at any time, never intended to leave after the keegan debacle to now, the way things are going it could be a 3rd relegation under his 12 year spell, how many times were we relegated in our whole history before this? I am 48 and saw through the awful times in the late 70s and 80s but I still had hope then, this is the most dispirited and disheartened I have been supporting this team, the man is the worst owner this club has had!

I think the Magpie group (or similar) should get a database of NUFC supporters email addresses together and actively seek to expand this to cover as many supporters as possible (shhhh perhaps a friendly person at the club could help to this end). This could make reaching large numbers of supporters easy, helping to coordinate planned actions in the future.
What happens if 5000 go on a website at the same time and start playing, what if 10,000, 50,000, more? What if we did an experiment to see? What if a certain small timeframe was set aside each day for this game, and everyday more and more people started playing,as word got around? I don’t know what website we might choose for such a game, but it sounds like fun.

mickybraham, I think most of the companies have cottoned on to the VPN thing. Hotstar was working with VPN earlier in the season, but they seem to have tightened up. I recently googled how to subscribe to this from outside India and there was another method, not using VPN to get around the georestrictions. Sorry can’t recall what it was, but give it a google.

    Great idea, but GDPR….

You’d have to have double opt-in, securely protected, written policies over the use of the data and guarantees that it would not be distributed to anyone else.

Very hard to set up. There are whole consultancies whose sole purpose is to help companies large and small with their EU GDPR commitments.

I can’t lie my hope was dead this morning.

I’ve been adamant all along that the journos don’t have a clue what they’re talking about but yesterday they were all so unanimous about Potato Heed’s imminent appointment I resigned defeat as surely they couldn’t all be wrong.

I put up 3 possible positive scenarios last night which I truthfully didn’t even believe myself but as the day has gone on I’m starting to believe again!

Thank you Mr Robleenio for your logical, objective and well written ruminations. They have refilled my optimism gauge!!

The press have been well informed by their collective “sources”, all from within the club being told exactly what KBA wants them to report.

They’re trying to force BZG to commit. Plane N9895 is still in London, they’re still in the game. Come on Midhat play this Slug at his own game, don’t blink, force this deal through!!

New rule for the Captain AmeriMag Positivity Club – believe NOTHING in the press until it is 100% confirmed and a new patsy manager is pictured on the pitch!

Lots of doubt being cast on the BZG group but in the absence of any hard and conclusive information its only sensible to weigh their credibility against Ashley’s.

Remember, who is the common factor in multiple failed ‘sales’ of the club ? Who has been proved in court to lie repeatedly to fans and the press ? Yup, it’s good old Mike.

So thats got to be the presumption unless or until there is hard evidence to the contrary. Ashley is an unwilling and difficult seller. Ashley is the one responsible for the ssle failing. Ashley will lie about it. It’s what he does.

    Hi,

Not read the last 12hours after the previous days “shitstorm/meltdown”, so if any of what I say below has been covered I apologise!

My take on the situation is:-
BZG – there you are Mr Ashley, deal as agreed, money in escrow, PL approval given, please sign and transfer ownership to us.
MA – Ah OK, there’s just one more thing, before I sign, I want the following extra little bit.
BZG – Sorry Mr Ashley, we’ve met all the agreed terms, please sign and we’ll complete takeover.
MA – No, I’ll just leave my amendment “on the table” for you to consider.
BZG – That’s not really necessary, but we’ll leave it for you to think over our agreed deal.

MA to KBA/Charnley “they aren’t biting, fxxx em, announce Rafa’s leaving”

MA to BZG – Rafa was leaving anyway and we had to act responsibly to let you/us appoint a new manager in time for new season.
BZG – You’ve just diminished the value of the asset we have agreed to buy, but in a gesture of good faith, we will still complete our originally agreed takeover and will again leave it with you.

MA to KBA, “Bugger, they’ve shat on me there, I know let’s sell the top goal scorer, he said he wanted out anyway”.

MA to BZG – Sorry about that but we have to keep the business running properly in everyone’s best interest.

BZG – That’s unfortunate Mr Ashley, but as the £30M will still be part of what we buy, we will still proceed with our original deal.

    This week,

MA to KBA, “bugger bugger bugger, they won’t bloody move” right 2 things – tell your press buddies they don’t have the money, that might make them “put up” to save face and prove everyone wrong, and announce we are going to appoint a third grade, champo manager, that will make the buggers jump”.

MA to BZG – As previously pointed out we must keep the business running professionally in the absence of your agreement to my terms.

BZG – our terms are agreed as originally negotiated.

    Today,

MA to KBA/Charnley – Bastards! Don’t whatever you do sign up that bugger Bruce, tell the press that Shef Wed want over £5M compo, mad buggers, can’t pay that! Get the lack of funds story out again, need to cover our backs for the shitstorm.

KBA/Charnley to MA – Mike why don’t you just sell at the deal as agreed?

MA (whilst going puce with rage) – I can’t do that ever, I’ll ruin any reputation I ever had!!!

Moral of story, don’t ever believe a word MA ever says and don’t ever try to do a deal with him and for all NUFC supporters don’t EVER forget whose to blame for all of this shite!!
