Newcastle Have Made Inquiry About Coventry’s Young Midfielder

Sky Sports have an update on their Transfer Centre report about Coventry midfielder Tom Bayliss and interest from Newcastle United.

This what they are reporting on the youngster:

Coventry are resigned to losing 20-year-old rising star Tom Bayliss if a club matches the £3m buy-out clause in his contract, Sky Sports News has learned.

A number of Premier League clubs have made inquiries about him including Newcastle and Sheffield United – though none have made a formal approach so far.

If Newcastle have looked into the player that could be good news as they are the biggest club in the hunt for the U19 England international. The other two clubs that have been mentioned as having an interest in the midfielder are Aston Villa and West Brom.

Bayliss had an outstanding season for the Sky Blues in their return to League One last season. He appeared 41 times for the club with 3 goals and 3 assists.

Tom Bayliss– young midfielder available for low fee

The Daily Mail’s “The Secret Scout” did a feature on Bayliss during the 2017-18 season when he was just 18 and playing in League 2 for Coventry.

Here is a little of what they wrote:

“He still caught the eye with a couple of forward runs and now, at League One level, he has progressed. In the same position in a game this season he was marked by a tough midfielder, but still managed to free himself to make early runs in possession.

“He is comfortable moving forwards and showed deft footwork to sidestep one especially fierce challenge. At about 5ft 10in with a slim figure, he gives the impression he will broaden out and with greater body strength will pick up more power, strength and pace.

“I was looking to see some creative passing, but that appears to be something he might need to work on as I didn’t see him pick out a single pass under pressure.

“Despite a quiet game he did spring to life with a brilliant forward chip that held up and deceived the goalkeeper, who rushed out and conceded a penalty.

“Bayliss’s team lacked rhythm on this occasion but I saw enough in his general play to be sure that with more constructive players around him, he could flourish.

Bayliss extended his contract last September to run through to 2022 but due to the buy-out clause, he will only cost £3m.

We hope Newcastle look this summer to bring in some quality youngsters and Tom Bayliss seems to fit the bill for a very low fee.

Missed out on another target I see
Barcelona have signed France forward Antoine Griezmann from La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid after paying his 120m euro (£107m) buyout clause.
The 28-year-old World Cup winner has signed a five-year deal which includes an 800m euro (£717m) release clause.
He signed a new five-year deal in June 2018, but announced in May he would be leaving the club this summer.

Atletico have been unhappy about Barcelona’s approach for the player and say 120m euros is “insufficient”.

I wouldn’t say Rafa is in a better footballing environment. He just left the best league in the world for China. Each team only has two good players who are usually at the end of their career and can’t motivate themselves. The two good foreign players walk through the Chinese players like a competitive dad skinning his kids in the park. Its more of a nothing league than even the Scottish league. And Dalian is a complete shithole where nobody speaks English and the winter is regularly minus 15 or worse and the summer is up to 35. There’s only one reason people work in China and it’s money. Ask gazza or tony Adams why they went and if they enjoyed it. Neither lasted more than a few months and both give grim accounts of not being able to communicate with anyone. Adams used to go in my local bar just to talk to foreigners, although he never drank any alcohol. I personally think benitez has made a mistake, although he made the right choice to quit.

About 7 months back I was asked by someone so close to Ashley and working on the sale to Kenyon at that time, Would your friends in the (………..Royal family be interested ? ) This after I told him we had discussed it and they were well aware of Newcastle United and up for sale and they would make representation via their own Lawyers if they were considering making a bid,

I know this because I told them .

Now if you understand that what you have just read above is one million percent correct as it happened ..live …then you will see where my belief came that Ashley was really selling up .

    It was Genuine.

Why am I telling you this now ? Well I am now hovering between the negative camp and the positive camp that Steve Bruce and Sam Allardyce were red herrings ..and we are still in negotiation with BZG or Jim Ratcliffe or both entities as new owners .

    Praying !

On subject, it sounds about right MA looking at players from Coventry.
While quality from the Lower leagues aren’t necessarily a bad thing at Ashley’s Newcastle it’s all about saving money.
I call it Ashley’s newcastle because us as fans are nothing to do with it as far as he’s concerned. Terrible way to treat your own clubs fans.
Hope people turn their backs on the club until Ashley fks off.

    Hail
How does rafa or any manager improve the team when
. Lard arse insits on a zero net spend.
. You have to sell before you can buy and even when the club sell they still cant buy.
. Deals have to be financially conducive from three perspectives wages, transfer fee and agents/signing on fees.
. Deals have to be reviewed by penfold then barnes before lard arse can sign them off, often taking weeks to complete like lejeune.
. Player’s cant be signed over the age of 25/6.
. No say on players being sold.
. You have no idea how many players you will get because the club wont disclose a budget.

Took almost 2years to negotiate Rafas contract, Ages to get Rondon on loan.
Now we’re desperately haggling over a few mil compo fee for Charnleys first choice.

Yet we sell perez in a cpl of days.

We’ve only got 4 weeks left to purchase players, we’ll be lucky to secure 1 loan signing the amount of haggling we do

    @Hail

It wasn’t nonsense there has been loads of articles in the last year about how Rafa kept asking about budgets only to be told each player was on a case by case basis

Its also been widely reported we do a weird thing where a transfer includes all the wages , agents fees etc up front but we then get told we have a high wage bill every season even though we have already accounted for the wages when we signed them up……. you can’t say that isn’t dodgy in the slightest?!

Also when Carr was picking the players near enough all of them were signed from Mondial sporting agency whether that is an issue or not we will never know but it always seemed weird how we seemed to miss some absolute bargains from France who would be more suited to the league ( Kante for 5 million!? ) because they were not with that particular agency…….

Its not even worth discussing NUFC until the parasite has gone. I’m finished with them until he goes. Supported them since the early 60’s but I have had enough. Sale or no sale I have given up. The whole thing is an utter mess.

If BZG don’t buy us, they’ve truly helped Ashley to f**k us up. That is if its true Rafa left because they didn’t want him or because of the uncertainty. We could go down now and if they fail with this bid due to lack of funds then they’re partly responsible.

I didn’t fail , Ashley failed me, failed all.

I’m still hoping it’s going to happen.

Thing is Rafa showing ambition and Ashley did not want that , shows me that he is staying as it would not have mattered to Ash if Rafa stayed on if Ash was on his way out ..still, and me clinging on to the hope that BZG- are still in there and have told Ash they wanted and want Jose.

I’m not giving up the hope and the optimism .

Ashley needs to answer some big questions if this sale is null and void.

And BZG need to make a statement. We could well cause a stink and an ongoing stigma for Ashley.

    Beer.

Hang on just a minute – Hail invented his monicker as an antidote (masquerading very subtly as humour) to the Jail for Ashley monicker with an ill-disguised remit to defend Ashley. That’s not an accusation, its just history.

Now he’s creating specious hypothesis about a revered ex manager in order to help dismantle his legacy and bolster Ashley’s excuses for moving him aside.

If you really want to delve into his muddy pond of semantics, go ahead, but there might not be anyone to help pull you out.

Rafa would already have his visa for working in China, as you have mentioned, it takes a while to get them, the club or he would have had to submit the paperwork ready for this trip, as for why he didn’t speak out against the club before his contract expired…….he wasn’t still under contract and has more than likely signed papers to say he won’t discuss anything Newcastle united unless through a pre organized media session
