Still No Formal Approach For Steve Bruce As He Takes Training

BBC Sports Journalist Adam Oxley is reporting that there has been no formal approach for Steve Bruce.

The Sheffield based reporter also claims that Steve Bruce is in fact at Sheffield Wednesday’s training ground this morning.

This is what Adam Oxley has tweeted:

Oxley’s information infers that this may not be imminent at all. He is clearly stating that he has heard there has been no formal approach from Newcastle.

Now it is unclear if there have been talks between the two clubs as we are not quite sure if Oxley is referencing just a formal approach for Bruce.

Sheffield Wednesday would have to reach an agreement with Newcastle for Bruce then be able to reach a deal.

It could be that there are some issues with agreeing on a compensation package for Bruce.

There have been discrepancies in the reported compensation fee for Steve Bruce. Some outlets say it is just £1m while others have claimed it at £5m.

Though we would not be surprised if Newcastle have yet to make any movement on Steve Bruce at all.

We will have to wait and see on this one. Newcastle are not one to move very quickly so the hold up could just be due to their meandering pace in getting deals done.

    Louise Taylor on Steve Bruce:

The former Sunderland No1 paid little attention to modern coaching methods, technology or tactics – and now he looks like man whose era has passed

tatforsale, Micky told me in February these guys were looking to bid. The news broke in May. He knew something was potentially coming, what he didn’t know was if Ashley would sell. That was always the problem.

After the Sun broke the news, everything looked like it was happening imminently so we all got excited. After that, Micky really gave us nothing new honestly, just background stuff about life and culture in Dubai.

So, what Micky told me was proven correct. Nothing else, especially them providing proof of funds, has been denied by the club. Pinsent Masons were involved in setting up Monochrome Acquisitions and they would not put their name to a fraud.

The takeover attempt was real, whatever anyone else says. The one common factor in all club sales failing has been Ashley, anything else is deflection and defamation.

Don’t be sucked in by Ashley’s PR machine.

    On BZG’s bid…

Where dod Justin Allen get his info from?

Not NUFC, not from the FA… but from BZG.

BZG might well of signed NDA’s, received heads of terms etc., all of which are normal processes in deals of this sort.

BUT… as far as I am aware the FA won’t do a fit and proper test without proof of funds, for obvious reasons.

Much as I don’t believe everything the Chron says they have been consistent from the start that NUFC never received that proof and I reckon that came from a respected source at the club.

Most of us, including me, chose to ignore that as we wanted to believe the takeover was on and just days away.

Sadly, it seems the Chron were right all along.

    Repost: relevant to this thread

Anyone else think it would be absolutely hilarious if Charnley fails to get Bruce over the line?

In the past, I’d have been really bothered about our club being a laughing stock. Now, it’s perfectly clear to everyone in football that the mess we’re in is down to one man and his desperate lack of foresight.

If the World starts laughing at us, they’re actually laughing at Ashley and he will know it.

He might be able to put up with being called a slaver, or a ba$stard or a hard-hearted sociopath, but I bet his pride will be screaming when he starts being called a fool by the World’s press.

I’m at the point now when I’m happy to sit back, crack open a metaphorical can and wait while this whole mess explodes in the fat slug’s face.

Also Ed seeing Rafa has left why don’t you get someone to redesign the banner.
I would still like Rafa on but also with all the great NUFC managers and there captains, a bit of memory methinks.
Come on photo shoppers get some suggestions going.
Needless to say leave out the owners.

What makes you think the press will start with criticism now? He’s done enough over 12 years to be crucified by them but hardly a bad word said about him. They have no interest in criticising them and real journalism is dead when it comes to football

It is quite astonishing, that in the absence of confirmed facts, any simple opinion posted on this blog, is immediately accepted as an absolute, unquestionable truth!

For example; **Sir John Hall is an honourable, truthful Geordie businessman, and a board member of NUFC, with access to all the financial aspects of the BZG takeover**

Well SJH is a Geordie, that is true, however many may take issue with some of the other points in that statement.

BZG do not have the money to complete this take-over. If this is true, and it’s a…., how have they been able to get this far?

How much money have BZG spent so far? Due Diligence, we are told, doesn’t come cheap.

The concensus, on this blog, is that this is merely a smokescreen, by Ashole and his gang, to divert attention from his non- investment in NUFC, and he manages this strategy by spending money in his involvement in a non take over scam!

Ashole is a proven Walsall Winker, but such a strategy is stupid and pointless. Ashole owns NUFC, if he doesn’t want to invest in the club, he will not. He is thick-skinned enough to not let the feelings of the people of Tyneside bother him.

PS… is there anyone reading this blog qualified enough to spell out how much money will have been spent by Amanda, Kenyon, BZG and Ashole himself.

I suspect it will be eye-watering!

Mike Ashley would of made sure the so called no funds whispers got leaked to the right people because he has been preparing his cop out, he has just let it drag as long as he saw fit to try and keep our eye of other things. Its just more of the same old, it is pretty evident the man does not want to sell unless he gets some insane deal where the club still makes him money.

Tatforsale “BZG need to make a bold statement telling the fans exactly what’s going on”

I’d agree with that statement 100%, but now may not be the time to do it. I’m still not 100% convinced the takeover process is completely dead in the water. Yes, it looks grim, but yesterday 90% of the posters on here were convinced Steve Bruce was our new manager and would be unveiled today.

Those same posters (not unreasonably, I’m not having a pop at anyone) were the ones shouting that if Bruce is our new manager, then the takeover is dead. Well, what if he isn’t, does the reverse apply? I don’t know the answer to that and I suspect neither does anyone else.

I think we’ll get our answers when the time is right. In the meantime, we need to concentrate on putting the pressure on Ashley.

I don’t think he did, I think he was always quite careful to say it all depended on Ashley. Lots of other ITK seldom or old posters came on and gave us assurances of dates and times, but as far as I know Micky never went that far, not even in private.

    Things I don’t understand:

“Until Mike Ashley says otherwise, the club remains for sale” comes out of the mouths of a number of reporters. I don’t have to spend long breaking down that sentence to know what an unmitigated load of sheyite it is; Ashley doesn’t speak, when he does he lies, the club isn’t for sale.

“NUFC have key signings to announce once they appoint a head coach” also eminating from Sky Sports. 1) the “head coach” doesn’t have any say, why does it matter? 2) why do we now have a head coach and a chief scout, where’s the DOF or similar you’re SUPPOSED to have in this kind of model?

“There’s £60m available, and a further £30m from the sale of Perez.” Erm, how have Villa spent £100m? They weren’t even IN the PL last year, and have sold precisely nobody (of note). How have we bought NOBODY yet “lost” Perez, Kenedy and Rondon? Why is Joselu on a plane to China when Alaves have been waiting for him for two weeks?

The London Magpie Group are going to The Orange Tree in Totteridge, which is where Ashley drinks. He won’t be there, but that’s a better effort than the innumerous NUFC reporters who do eff all, but regurgitate crap quotes from “club insiders”.
