Paying For Steve Bruce Is The Ultimate Shame

Steve Bruce is looking likely to make the trip to Lincoln City for Sheffield Wednesday’s first friendly of preseason as Mike Ashley continues to haggle on his compensation fee.

The Sun have a report out that states if Mike Ashley does end up paying the full amount for Steve Bruce, it would end up being more than was offered to Rafa Benitez.

While Bruce’s salary will be a lot less than what Rafa was on, adding close to a ridiculous £6m compensation package for Bruce and his assistants Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence could come out to more than was offered to Rafa Benitez.

Rafa Benitez and Steve Bruce– while in the championship and hope was eternal

Where are the press in all of this? Where are the scathing pieces laying bare for all to see the wreck this club has returned to.

Rafa spent three years trying to resurrect our damaged and severely wayward club by building a foundation that was ready for some success.

The minute he leaves, it’s like Ashley took a sledgehammer to some load-bearing walls and the whole thing is about to collapse.

We are in a precarious situation where no decent manager wants to manage this club. And it is down to Mike Ashley.

He is so inept at running this club. He just will never change.

Kevin Keegan gave an interview in October on talkSPORT where he told the hard truths about Mike Ashley and referenced that Rafa was the only thing holding it all together.

This is some of what he said last year:

“I long for him to go because he’s not right for that club.

“He bought Newcastle like a wealthy man would buy a yacht or an expensive car.

“You can’t do that with football clubs, with the passion in the cities and the towns, and if there’s one club in the world you can’t do it with it’s the one he chose in Newcastle United.

“He cannot treat it like he does one of his shops.”

“There doesn’t seem to be any real long-term planning or strategy.

“There wasn’t any when I was there in that short eight months. It was hard as manager to get any idea of what the vision for his football club was. That’s very difficult – the direction has to come from the top.

“I’ve got maximum respect for Rafael Benitez, he’s the only thing keeping the supporters sane at the moment.

“They get it, they like him. Any other manager with the results he’s had this season would be under-fire, but the Newcastle fans understand what’s happening.

“I think Rafa is doing fantastically. He can’t be getting the hassle I got, otherwise he wouldn’t still be there.

“But I think he’s still getting some of the problems that were there ten years ago.”

If Steve Bruce has any sanity, he should bring this circus to a halt and get on with it at Sheffield Wednesday.

The Newcastle fans don’t want him and the Sheffield Wednesday fans don’t deserve being deserted by him.

While Newcastle United is a bigger job, it is not a better one under Mike Ashley.

Have it on good authority that Shef Wednesday will not sell Bruce to us as they have not received proof of funds from Ashley

Surely this must ring any alarm bells that hadn’t already rung for Bruce. Ashley is penny pinching from the very first minute.

The biggest insult to it all Ashley will take the cash to sign sponge Bob out of that tiny little kitty jar he called transfer funds, and will use this as an excuse for not getting transfers over the line, along with running out of time due to lack of manager. Again I’m at a point I’m embarrassed to be and be called a toon fan in public, its like the stigma right now of being labeled a scouser.

Even if he gives him 40 to 50 mill to sign 2 new forwards we are still on parity as last season. No improvement when yet again teams spend money.
Further down the pecking order we go and still fand show up

I couldn’t care less what Ashley does, I wont be there to watch it, and once we’re relegated again he only has himself to blame.

Not sure what the point is of supporting a club with absolutely no ambition.

This season has failure and turmoil painted all over it before its began,in money and signings we are probs about 200m(about 4-8 decent players)behind teams that finished in mid to lower in premier league as it stands now, promoted sides are spending or seem in a fairly stable position, without having loads to spend….we are like a bomb site….50m wont even compete with promoted sides…. Christ championship sides are spending more.

Bruce should bale out. He needs to realise his situation will be repeated for every single transfer dealing. Lengthy, fraught and often ending in failure because Ashley wants everything for nothing. He is witnessing first hand what it will be like managing Newcastle United.
The club treat every transaction as a game of brinkmanship, showing little respect for the people involved.

Bruce Isn’t the answer he’s the only silly bugga shown an interest and thats only due to him being a geordie and after pay day, which is fair enough….i wish he’d said no f**king way im goin there the place is poisonous and leave ashley struggling….now he has an easy out…the players wont have respect for him as he’s done nowt as a manager and most were probs in nappies or swimming round there fathas bollicks when bruce was a decent player….lets face it, players would be more anxious and respectful if a jimmy nail looking bruiser from a walker walked in to manage them….stan u out there mate! Lol

I know most in defence of Ashley tried to use Fulham as an example of money doesn’t always but you success.Well the flip side of that is Wolves,And at least the owner of Fulham gave it a shot as are Villa who have just come up.
We are so far off now in the Pl that quite frankly we can only thank our previous manager Rafa for performing miracles for keeping us in the Pl

The problem we have is that the slug does not own a football club, he owns a vehicle fo promote his tat shop, if it loses its steering wheel, (Rafa) he thinks he can just get any steering wheel to steer it ,if it loses a couple of wheels, any wheels the same size will fit……the trouble is, our vehicle is being pulled around by a couple of donkeys (the slug and the boiled egg head) , every other football club has an engine of some degree……time t shoot the donkeys

The lack of funds and giving Fulham as a bad example is never going to wash. We all know that you don’t go out and spend on numerous players; you bring in one or two better quality players at the right time. Basically, you put someone in charge who can build a team for gradual improvement, someone with a method and a plan. For example Rafa B…, wtf. We’re stuffed.

and, subsequently accept the offer to work for Mike Ashole?

For Posada, Charlie In The Gallowgate and anyone else who missed this earlier this week.

Dear supporters of Newcastle United Football Club,
    • If you go to the match this season you are not in the wrong; Mike Ashley is.
    • If you boycott televised games you are not in the wrong; Mike Ashley is.
    • If you boycott the Arsenal game and St. James Park for the rest of the season you are not in the wrong; Mike Ashley is.

Ashley is wrong for this club and he is wrong if he thinks he has a future here. He does not give or build, he only knows how to take and throw his weight around. His bottom-line approach will see this club fail. Perhaps not this season nor the next but we will do nothing except circle the bowl and it will be slow, painful and totally needless.

What we need is a message. Not just to Ashley but also to the Premier League and football as a whole, that this man is toxic. Your brand will be tarnished and your product degraded. The ‘best league in the world’ seeming tolerant of a club existing solely to promote one of the country’s most loathed brands. We need him gone from our club.

Many will say it’s impossible to achieve, that he doesn’t care what we do or say or think but what is it we’ve criticised Ashley for most? A lack of ambition. Now it’s time we become the counterweight – the ultimate display of ambition. Wor flags set records, just look what our fans are capable of. Each of us wants to be stood shoulder to shoulder, United in voice for our club so let’s get ambitious. Let’s change the narrative. Let’s show what can happen when you disrespect a city, a community, a passionate, obsessed fanbase.
To this end, we call on all NUFC supporters to show the world that we will not take it lying down, that we will no longer stand idly by while he systematically and deliberately destroys this once great club. The first step is to boycott the Arsenal game…

To all fans of Newcastle United FC and all media outlets. Due to the ongoing situation at our great club, we would like to confirm that the following groups are now working together:-

    • @IfRafaGoesWeGo
    • @emptyforashley
    • @TheMagpieGroup_
    • @AshleyOutdotcom
    • @Mike_Ashley_Out
    • @NUFC360
    • @LondonMagpies
    • @maintainSJP
    • @NWestMagpies

Our initial aim is to mobilise a boycott of the Arsenal game (#BoycottArsenal) on the 11th of August with details and plans to boycott future games to be announced in the coming weeks. This is step one in our plan to starve Mike Ashley of the thing he desires most: money.

That’s why we will be focusing on a full boycott of matchday activities at St James’ Park going forward (#BoycottSJP) and this will be our mantra until the club has new ownership. We collectively will not be putting another penny in Mike Ashley’s hands and so we have effectively banned ourselves from entering SJP, Nine bar, the club shop or any Sports Direct store nationwide. We are in the process of organising protests at SD branches nationwide; more details will follow.

Boycotting is the hardest decision any of us will likely ever make regarding NUFC. We will still support the club and follow them at away games but this no longer feels like ‘our’ club and it is time to make a stand.

    Contact details:-
We welcome any input, support, ideas and help from like-minded supporters and supporters groups worldwide. If you would like to be part of this movement in any way please contact us at: SJPBoycott@gmail.com

If Bruce is appointed and If we pulled together we could be rid of him by Xmas. Make every game from the first to last the same as the game where Pardew could not leave his seat. Send Ashley a clear message that we will no longer accept him or his running of our club and that we would rather go down, stay down and cost him money until he leaves. A couple of years in the Championship with less money the fans (gate receipts and merch sales) suddenly become relevant again as a source of income.
