Report – Newcastle Have Paid Sheffield Wednesday £4m For Steve Bruce

The Sun’s Alan Nixon is reporting that Newcastle have in fact paid Sheffield Wednesday the compensation for Steve Bruce.

The report is said to be exclusive and can be found in the link below.

While this news is very distressing, Dejphon Chansiri has not accepted the offer as far as we can tell. The report does state that the Sheffield Wednesday owner still may request compensation for Bruce’s assistants Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence.

So basically Dejphon Chansiri is our only hope at this point. It is looking extremely unlikely that anything can prevent this appointment from happening, however.

To think the one time Mike Ashley pays over the odds, it’s for Steve Bruce. Not Virgil Van Dijk. Not Luka Modric. Not even for Rafa Benitez, with whom we would be flying high right now.

This is a bit of what Alan Nixon has written in what could be the conclusion of the horror show both Newcastle and Sheffield Wednesday fans have witnessed these past few days:

Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence have left without their transfer fees being agreed. However that should not be a major issue.

Bruce is now on his way to Tyneside after a bitter end to his brief spell at Wednesday.

Chansiri has been given the cash up front and will now be able to find a new man in a hurry.

The Owls owner is likely to look for an out of work domestic boss to take over from Bruce.

He is fuming after backing him in his short stay and signing players for next season.

Everything Ashley touches is a mess. What a travesty this summer has turned into.

willowdallarez from previous, not sure I agree with your confrontational tone, but I do agree with your sentiment.

The managerial appointment is irrelevant, Bruce is a symptom rather than the disease and we must keep our eyes on the prize – Ashley OUT.

Luke Edwards, of the Telegraph, writes:

Newcastle have a deal in place to sign Brazilian striker Joelinton from Hoffenheim, but the need to have a manager in place is growing more urgent by the day as they also need him to give the green light to that transfer.

Ash will have offered Bruce a 7 year contract if he’s had to pay 4 mil. He’d want his moneys worth.

If it’s true then hes clearly doing it to piss us off, as hed get a good unemployed manager for 1-2m a year salary, and for free without any compo.

Makes zero sense unless he really really wants Bruce. But seeing as Bruce is so Shít there is no reason for him to want him that badly enough unless hes doing it to piss us off.

this is from the sun …

I Newcastle pay Sheffield Wednesday £4m for Steve Bruce with boss set to replace Rafa Benitez as St James’ Park

NEWCASTLE owner Mike Ashley has paid £4 million to Sheffield Wednesday for Steve Bruce.

Ashley sent over the cash ahead of the appointment and Bruce plus his staff walked out before it was accepted.

Wednesday supremo Dejphon Chansiri is now likely to agree to the deal that compensates him for Bruce.

He could argue about an extra sum for his back room team

Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence have left without their transfer fees being agreed. However that should not be a major issue.

Bruce is now on his way to Tyneside after a bitter end to his brief spell at Wednesday.

Its us versus Ashley not us versus us.

I’m not going to give anyone choosing to go to SJP any grief at all, I know how hard it is to stop.

I see those going as spies and saboteurs, they can protest etc in the ground and still get involved.

I’ve more in common with the match goers than Ashleu I know they want the same as me which is what’s best for the club.

Stay United and we’ll shift the slug togther, United we wont be defeated.

firebug we’ll be in the bottom 6 mix but not nailed on for relegation. Too many teams around us have poor squads too. Bruce needs to edge them the way Rafa did low GA, nab a win or two of better sides and beat the worst 3 in both matches. Problem for Bruce won’t be motivation, they will all want to do well as they will want to be in the shop window and want away from the Toon. Problem will be “Team Play”.

A Sissoko type was a great player individually but a problem at NUFC because he only wanted to showcase his talents for scouts from bigger clubs so caused more problems on the filed than he solved for all his many footballing talents. All Bruce needs is to lose control of one or two players for any gameplan to be shot. I don’t know all their personalities that well but don’t think he’ll get that problem out of Lascelles and it’s not really an issue with the keeper so he may be able, if Lascelles sticks to his guns, to drill order into the squad. Worries would probably be around Schar, LeJeune, Miggy and Shelvey who all have loads of talent and may not want to squander it on tyneside under Bruce. They can make the difference because if they play selfish and showy they may get the transfer they want but they could sink a game here, cost a goal there etc.

Mike-Assly announces the end of this years summer sale. Miss-Assly says “the annual summer sale is an attempt to sell a football club for more than it is worth” and then added “don’t worry it’s an annual event and we will again look to sell as it gives us great free publicity and amazingly helps to sell season tickets.”

First question to ask incoming Bruce (yes I always loved NUFC) is – “Bruce can you tell us what is your project for the club?” When he looks blankly, you can advise him that Miss-Ashly and the previous manager spent 12 months discussing a ‘project’ to take the club forwards. If he can’t answer the question or just looks blankly then ask an easier question “Does your contract have a non-disclosure clause that prevents you from saying anything critical to media/fans?” When he doesn’t answer then please turn the lights off and leave.

I’ve spoke to loads of fans on 2 different sites, they’re all of a similar mood.

Two companies I sub contract to have both give up, one a box the other several in the platinum club.

The owners of both companies are saying the same about Bruce.

Except the idiots on tv Nolan Shola etc I’ve bot heard anyone say it’s a good idea or they’ll get behind him.

Owls got a good deal out of this their owner may no realize it yet but a lot of managers greater than Bruce out unemployed and can be brought in quick to a happy reception plus an extra 4m to splash out to strengthen the squad or whatever they need cash for.

Bruce at 4m is bad business for us… Joselu at 5m was probably worse but not by much.

Bruce is the final final straw for me. I’ve been positive throughout and always believed things would turn around even through Pardew and McLaren. I’m not going to watch another game with a substandard dinosaur in charge. In my eyes the best way to hit Ashley would be to hit his paymasters sky and BT sports and cancel subscriptions. If 10,000 geordies cancelled their subscription, sky would be furious and show us less and the club would be hit in the pocket.
