Report – Newcastle Will Chase Everton Duo Who Do Not Fit Ashley Profile

90min has a report bordering on the implausible that Steve Bruce will hope to sign both Yannick Bolasie and James McCarthy from Everton.

This is what is reported as an exclusive by Tom Gott for 90min:

90min has learned that Bruce is eager to take advantage of the available transfer kitty by recruiting a number of new players once he is confirmed as Newcastle boss.

The manager will begin with Bolasie and McCarthy – two players he has often tried to sign in the past for previous clubs. During his time with ?Aston Villa, Bruce was keen for the club to land Bolasie on loan, and they ultimately managed to do so after he had been sacked.

We highly doubt Steve Bruce will have much say in who the transfer targets are this summer. We also think it would be best for Steve Bruce to steer clear of Mike Ashley as he no doubt will be feeling sick for the next few months as the realization sets in of what he has forked over
£4m for.

We find these targets to be very strange to say the least. First of all, neither player fits the profile of someone that is 26 years of age or less. Bolasie is 30 and James McCarthy is 28. Ashley is not going to want to pay for these types of players. It was one of the major sticking points in his negotiations with Rafa Benitez.

Both players, however, would not come at a big price. James McCarthy has just one year left on his contract and Everton are trying to offload him this summer.

Yannick Bolasie has two years remaining on his contract but amazingly has just a £10m release clause in his contract.

While we would be surprised if either of these two ended up on Tyneside, they could provide experienced cover for the next few seasons. We imagine they would only cost about £15m for the pair. But if you throw in their likely high wages, agent fees, and signing bonuses, it would most likely be too much for Ashley to sanction.

No question of me supporting this huge disaster of an appointment.

NUFC will be gutted to hear this

And this line about Bruce being a Geordie – did they watch how things worked out for Carver? That line is not designed for this area at all, it’s for fans of other clubs to laugh about.

No chance of me supporting this 2nd rate appointment either – I never thought much of him as a manager and if it’s true he wants to sign McCarthy he’s clearly showing how little he knows if the modern game

    The Chronicle@ChronicleNUFC

‘Benitez had given the fans something to hope for – reason to believe that fighting relegation would not always be the priority at #NUFC. He gave fans a sense of ambition; sadly the appointment of Steve Bruce doesn’t do that.’

BBC sport article just out about Arsenal fans writing a letter to Stan kronke to “reinvigorate the club” Does Ashley have to burn the stadium down before the press will talk about him? Disgraceful

The Spruce Bruce. He won’t get off the ground (or water). Tried once and then placed in storage. We’ve got a nice cupboard for you to sit in here at St. James Steve.

I guess when we say supporting Bruce it needs to be understood exactly what that would mean. Wanting the team and Bruce to do well is something a large majority will want no matter what the anger is forcing people to say at this moment (such as wanting us to get relegated). I don’t expect anyone to be singing Bruce’s name but on the other hand would find it disgusting if he was booed and jeered before he’s been given the chance.

Overall a shocking appointment but let’s get on with it and sign some players now.

How long will this new sad relationship last. Will he outlast McLaren? I’m not sure. We have some tough matches early on. He could be looking fairly desperate by October. Then what Mikey? Get the brain trust back out and work on a new head coach yet again? While saying what to the supporters? Oh that’s right you don’t speak anymore. What would you say worth listening to anyway?

The club will turn over about 200m
    Running cost of 130m
    70m into Ashley’s back pocket
    Relegated
Ashley gives 30m “from his own pocket” to get the club back up

And jib, Jane & robleenio are happy

I know I’ll get blasted for saying this, but I couldn’t care less that he used to manage Sunderland, let’s face it, if any of us were professionals, if offered, we would play for them or manage them. But I’m so annoyed and upset that he will come in as he is just hopeless as a manager and I’m sure us fans have more tactical ideas and up to date than him

On another note, I’m tempted to join Bobby for the Arsenal boycott, I’m on the 10 year scheme, only thing that puts me off is, he has my money anyway, so he getting it for an empty seat.

I’d like honest opinions, how much of a difference will it make. He gets the sky money regardless and we have to be on tv for set amount of games, might not get the extra, but he gets his adverts regardless and he just doesn’t care about us at all. Let me know what you think and I’ll decide what to do

Jib – everyone’s had a clear view of Bruce’s management style and have seen he’s never done well – also the way he treated SWFC is disgraceful after they stood by him through his double bereavement.
He’s a nice bloke in the pub I’m sure but this rubbish about his dream job … He’s turned it down twice already when he had longer contracts at other clubs in decent money.
The only reason he’s taken the job this time us for a huge pay rise ( he was on 300k) and a longer contract
His dream club is manure both as a supporter and manager
Some people believe any old crap put out there …. Such as Ashley wants to sell the club ..biggest joke of all

If I was Ashley I would be thinking about who will replace Bruce already. It looks like a disaster to me. He might be able to keep the defense steady but we’re just not going to score enough. It looks like a recipe for disaster yet again. With Rafa you didn’t have to panic when things went wrong early. Steve is an entirely different kettle of fish.

if you owned NUFC and agreed to sell at 350m then suddenley the transfer window opened and players were going for crazy money and you noticed youre players could be valued at……
    30m Perez
    50m Longstaff
    30m Schar
    40m lascelles
    30m almiron
    20m dubravka
    25m lejeune
    25m shelvey
    25m haydon

    would you up the price?
I mean thats 275m right there. he could just sell most of the team and get his 350m and still own the club.

Its definately worth considering that could be what has happened. It is suddenly valued was more than 350m due to player values shooting up.

why do you think we should support Bruce and his mackem mates, do you think its the loyalty he shown to his previous club, or the fact he’s taken a job with a man absolutely detested by his fellow geordie’s or just the fact that he’s a shit manager that hasn’t got a club what he’s let himself in for when the shit storm hits,
will you be going to games to support your hero !!

My view on that is it doesnt matter who they bring in as Im not supporting any manager. But then to get the one traitor geordie/mackem filth manager that everybody hates just makes it way worse for me.
And the fact that they know 99% proper despise him yet still go and emply him is just baffles beyond belief. No other club in the world would do such a thing. No other business in the world would be as stupid as that.
