Report – Newcastle Will Chase Everton Duo Who Do Not Fit Ashley Profile

90min has a report bordering on the implausible that Steve Bruce will hope to sign both Yannick Bolasie and James McCarthy from Everton.

This is what is reported as an exclusive by Tom Gott for 90min:

90min has learned that Bruce is eager to take advantage of the available transfer kitty by recruiting a number of new players once he is confirmed as Newcastle boss.

The manager will begin with Bolasie and McCarthy – two players he has often tried to sign in the past for previous clubs. During his time with ?Aston Villa, Bruce was keen for the club to land Bolasie on loan, and they ultimately managed to do so after he had been sacked.

We highly doubt Steve Bruce will have much say in who the transfer targets are this summer. We also think it would be best for Steve Bruce to steer clear of Mike Ashley as he no doubt will be feeling sick for the next few months as the realization sets in of what he has forked over
£4m for.

We find these targets to be very strange to say the least. First of all, neither player fits the profile of someone that is 26 years of age or less. Bolasie is 30 and James McCarthy is 28. Ashley is not going to want to pay for these types of players. It was one of the major sticking points in his negotiations with Rafa Benitez.

Both players, however, would not come at a big price. James McCarthy has just one year left on his contract and Everton are trying to offload him this summer.

Yannick Bolasie has two years remaining on his contract but amazingly has just a £10m release clause in his contract.

While we would be surprised if either of these two ended up on Tyneside, they could provide experienced cover for the next few seasons. We imagine they would only cost about £15m for the pair. But if you throw in their likely high wages, agent fees, and signing bonuses, it would most likely be too much for Ashley to sanction.

Perez is going to be a massive miss next season. Rafa thought Alot about him, the lad had talent even if he was knocked off the ball quite easily.
On Bruce he has to be given a chance to prove himself. But without the right Investment on players ANY manager would struggle, the squad is a budget squad put together on yes a budget.

To pay compensation for Steve Bruce is beyond comprehension. Charnley has always had the look of a complete moron but this action alone proves he has an IQ of room temperature.

He’s behaved like a totally useless twat.

So both the BBC and Sly Sports have picked up on unrest at Arsenal and the fact that fans are unhappy. They are both being sympathetic to the fans.

    Are NUFC that irrelevant now?

As for being linked with McCarthy again, can we expect Austin and Das Boot to be linked soon.

Absolute train wreck of a club.

He loves the club, supported them as a boy and fulfilled a dream to play for us. We text and call each other all the time about updates. Mind he hasn’t responded yet to today’s news, would have been 7.30 am there when I let hi know

Simon, for what it’s worth, it’s not about the money, it’s about the empty seats. You may have given him the former, but the latter will be more telling at a live TV game.

Bobby and Carltoon are in the same boat as you. Both have said they won’t be going to the Aresnal game as things stand, Charlie in the Gallowgate has said the opposite. Each to his own, and I’ll not criticise anyone for doing what they think is right.

However, you may think that you’re only one person and you won’t make that much difference, but what if you’re one of 10K thinking the same? Or 20k, or 30k? What if people take advantage of the swathes of unsold season tickets and turn up at the turnstile on match day?

We need to be united on this and we need to be strong. If you can see your way to boycotting Arsenal at least, I think the majority on here would be behind you.

Munster I already corrected him but thanks for stepping in it again just at the right time.

Toonkk – Bruce has to be given a chance why? I don’t get that at all. The very fact it’s him and he’s here shows you Newcastle is strangleheld by Ashley for the duration. Are you going to get behind him when he has us near mid table end of season and we are “safe” once again?

    simon376,
At the end of the day it is entirely up to you whether you go or not but I think you have to understand that it’s not about the money, he’s a billionaire, all those not renewing aren’t trying to hurt his pocket, it’s about letting him, and more importantly the rest of the world know we’ve had enough and are prepared to do something about it. My mate who runs the away bus has renewed for his loyalty points but isn’t going to go, I read that midlands mag?? earlier was doing the same, there are hundreds with tickets not going to the game. I’m asking you to please reconsider going, the game is on TV and it is one big chance to send out a statement that we really have had enough.
Arsenal with their 100M strike partnership and EL final medals have just written a letter to their owner which has been aired on SKY with the message that they are totally justified in writing such a letter, we have been shat on year after and have still turned up in our tens of thousands home and away yet are called deluded for wanting better. Just one game Simon to see what the reaction is, it really isn’t a big ask.

I’m hoping this is just some lazy journalist linking two of the worst possible signings to us just to get people angry and reading their website. However these are exactly the type of past it has beens Bruce always signs just because they have experience. I would not take these two if they were free. Anyone remember the last time either had a good game? Probably back when Bruce was at Hull

I might be wrong here but I doubt they have ever sold out of season tickets in mike’s tenure, otherwise there wouldn’t have been a ten year deal. I wouldn’t worry you cant get a season ticket again. And I doubt there will be swathes of match day fillers unless Mikey hands the tickets out at his shops, or schools like the mackems used to do.

On a different note, the Chairman of Arsenal has been sent a strongly worded letter by a number of Arsenal supporters groups saying that they don’t agree with the direction the club has taken and the BBC have picked up on it.

We’ve had flags all over the stadium for a year, protests outside Ashley’s tat shops, protests outside his house, our local MP speaking in Parliament about our situation, a club which is being run into the ground by one of the worst owners in the history of the League and nothing, nada, zip being mentioned on the BBC website other than some bland statement that Bruce has resigned from Sheffield Wednesday.

We are finally getting some momentum in our campaign (I know that’s rich coming from me) but we need to get the media onside. We need the likes of Shearer, Rob Lee, Joey Barton and others to get our point across and use their media contacts to get our protests some attention.

Without the media, it’s all just huff and puff, with the media we get the country on our side and we get to a point where we can no longer be ignored.

Absolutely stunned with this Arsenal cr@p, spoilt barstewards but media darlings. I still remember George Graham and his particular brand of dreadful sh!te he used to call football. Awful, horrid team and they still are.

lochinvar, that’s an interesting question. I wonder if the Magpie Group have been in touch with their Arsenal counterparts?

Given what I said above, however, any joint protest would probably end up being covered from the Arsenal side alone and our message would be drowned out.
