Report – Newcastle Will Chase Everton Duo Who Do Not Fit Ashley Profile

90min has a report bordering on the implausible that Steve Bruce will hope to sign both Yannick Bolasie and James McCarthy from Everton.

This is what is reported as an exclusive by Tom Gott for 90min:

90min has learned that Bruce is eager to take advantage of the available transfer kitty by recruiting a number of new players once he is confirmed as Newcastle boss.

The manager will begin with Bolasie and McCarthy – two players he has often tried to sign in the past for previous clubs. During his time with ?Aston Villa, Bruce was keen for the club to land Bolasie on loan, and they ultimately managed to do so after he had been sacked.

We highly doubt Steve Bruce will have much say in who the transfer targets are this summer. We also think it would be best for Steve Bruce to steer clear of Mike Ashley as he no doubt will be feeling sick for the next few months as the realization sets in of what he has forked over
£4m for.

We find these targets to be very strange to say the least. First of all, neither player fits the profile of someone that is 26 years of age or less. Bolasie is 30 and James McCarthy is 28. Ashley is not going to want to pay for these types of players. It was one of the major sticking points in his negotiations with Rafa Benitez.

Both players, however, would not come at a big price. James McCarthy has just one year left on his contract and Everton are trying to offload him this summer.

Yannick Bolasie has two years remaining on his contract but amazingly has just a £10m release clause in his contract.

While we would be surprised if either of these two ended up on Tyneside, they could provide experienced cover for the next few seasons. We imagine they would only cost about £15m for the pair. But if you throw in their likely high wages, agent fees, and signing bonuses, it would most likely be too much for Ashley to sanction.

Never thought much of McCarthey as a player, although he might be a good fit for the Championship.

Bolasie is/was a speed merchant and probably now on the down slope as a player, I’d have been pleased to see him sign for us 5 years ago but not now.

And as for Joelinton, £35m somebody is having a laaarf!

Jail, how serious are you about the Jarrow march? I’ve seen other posters mention it in connection with your name but it’s the first time I’ve seen you mention it – been in and out the last few days

    LC,
Plan A; We’re going to spend 36M on Joe Linto
RB: But he’s not good enough
LC, Rafa, but he’s Brazillian and might be worth double that next season,
RB: I’ve kept tabs on him since he was sixteen, he’s not good enough!!!
LC, Rafa, see plan A. Goodbye.

We’ll probably end up with Niasse

    RobLeenio,
I’m deadly serious, I hope to raise about £500 for charity and if we could get 50 people all raising in between £330/500 pounds each for march against poverty it would be really good news. What you have to remember is that the roads are now very different to how they were in 1936 and I’m waiting for feedback from the Long Distance Walkers Association to see if it’s feasible, if so I’d then cost the price of portaloo’s etc contact the local councils of each of the 19 place we’d plan to overnight and wait for a reply then present my plan to TMG.

I stopped paying subs to NUST a while ago, they’ve again stated that the’re not a protest movement. TMG needs funds, but it needs a treasurer and somebody with a lot of time on their hands to answer e mails etc

……I wouldn’t worry you cant get a season ticket again. And I doubt there will be swathes of match day fillers unless Mikey hands the tickets out at his shops, or schools like the mackems used to do.

Problem is that he will find away as this is the business model that clubs such as a West Ham use to fill seats by offering them to overseas students and London tourists who look at watching a Premier League match especially if it’s Man C or Man B or Liverpool as a tick box experience . Little to do with true fans.

I remember approaching Bruce in the Three Mile in the late 80,s where he was on his soapbox giving it large to all and sundry, Gazza Style(like a ball bag!)to ask if he would ever come and join Newcastle United. The ugly Cnut just sneered and said they couldn’t afford to pay his wages, him and the other arse licking ball bags that were with him laughed their tits off.I thought fair enough cos he was a top player at the biggest club in the world at the time. But he’s an arrogant fcuker and I guarantee that he kicks off with the fans for not giving him the adoration he thinks he’s entitled to.Its going to be a very short marriage and a very messy divorce, this third rate chancer has already shown his true colours just by taking the job and dropping his previous employers in the shit. He,s a rat and this will probably be his last job cos he’s in for a shit storm of epic proportions,

My understanding is that the pair of villains plan to use over 14,000 excess mannequins from HOF dressed in Newcastle tops to fill in any empty seats.

I see the takeover talk has really died down now. It was bound to happen as time went by. I find myself feeling really let down by the club again but with Ashley there is no truth or decent behaviour. How he will get us through this season is beyond me. We’re right back to where we started with him. Lying and deceiving a top manager (this time it’s Rafa, last time it was Keegan), and lying to the supporters. It will be the biggest party ever on Tyneside when he finally does leave.

    Just had a thought… (potentially dangerous) 🙂

Maybe Rafa was signed as a stop-gap for Ashley?

Ashley knew that Rafa would be good enough to get us out of the champo and then to stabilise us in the Premier league all while keeping a low net spend. (turned out facts)

Now, he never had any intentions of extending his contract because he no longer needs him, he’s going to hire another yes man (hence Bruce) who will be happy with mediocrity (a-la Pardew and McClaren) to keep us stable in the league.

Didn’t work with McClaren which is why he had to sign rafa. But now we are in a good stable position he has gone back to his roots?

    Thoughts? Doesn’t seem beyond Ashley.

When SSN do their fans comments bit; if we all sent in a well written set script its surely going to get picked up on…

Anyone think there’s ever been a manager more hated before he’s even arrived. Even Souness never had this hatred until he well and truly earned it. If Charnley reason for Bruce is he’s a Geordie and we will accept him you’d think this reaction would be enough to tell him as usual he’s made a mistake and to go for someone who isn’t Steve Bruce.

So we have now gone from sheikh/rafa/mourinho to ashley/bruce 20% win rate in the space of a few weeks. And we will never hear of Khaled again. And two strikers gone. Its a horror story. Bruce is going to get eaten alive at this level.

The only way to get Ashley out now is a concerted effort with the media and the fans, massive bad press may drive him out. From my view here in the states the media is a lapdog there and have no desire to rock the boat. The fans seem to be hardened by the potential Bruce appointment but how long will that last? Protests and boycott’s are a good start, hit the bottom line and eventually it may drive him out but he is like a tick on dog, stuck in and not going anywhere as long as he gets his blood meal.

I wrote a long post about this, try to condense it down. I’ve heard that Ashley’s been told by his advisor(s) to keep hold of NUFC for 1-2 more years, hence why the takeover died. I am going to guess that he is now on a mission to recoup of his ‘owed’ money and is, in fact, owed FAR less than the mooted £144m. Bear in mind it was already near £110m, then another £30m came out of LAST year’s finance, I think that figure could be down at about £50m by end of Summer. I think he wants this last season of advertising but is uninterested in surviving because he will get rid either next Summer or the year after, once his loan and perceived value is taken out.

I think this will be the worst season yet. Bruce could be rock bottom all season, he will NOT be sacked, because I don’t think Ashley wants the club to survive this season. He’s taking “his” money out, he’ll weight up the value he thinks he got from the SD exposure/advertising and he will bail out with us in a terrible state. He’ll be able to sell at such a low rate any old idiot will be able to come in, which will be his final Eff You.
