Ben Dawson Responds When Asked About Steve Bruce Appointment

The Chronicle have a report out about the press conference held earlier today for tomorrow’s first preseason match against Wolves.

The press conference was held at the Shangri-la Hotel in Nanjing and was given by Ben Dawson and Matt Ritchie.

When asked about the current situation with Steve Bruce, Ben Dawson gave the following response:

“The main aim is to prepare the players for the new manager coming in.

“The games will be competitive. We will try to win against Wolves then on Saturday to take the trophy back home.

“No news at this moment in time. We are waiting to hear along with everybody else.

“The players are working hard and trying to get a positive result for the team.

“All we can do is focus on the job out here. We have good staff and good players. We have worked hard training twice a day.

“We are preparing the players as we would for any fixture.”

This is a very diplomatic response by Ben Dawson who seems to have taken the lead role with Neil Redfearn assisting him in his caretaker duties.

We are very impressed with Ben Dawson and he looks like he will make a decent first team manager one day. Though at what level remains to be seen.

Ben Dawson– has done well this summer

With the dire appointment of Steve Bruce still not settling in too well with us, we have to wonder if Ben Dawson would not have been a better option as a caretaker until a more suitable could be identified.

We understand this would be a big risk and unlikely to work out too well, but we are just so disappointed with the way this whole Steve Bruce saga has unfolded.

The selfishness displayed by Bruce in shafting Sheffield Wednesday does not sit well with us. It belies the media’s claims of what a decent man he is.

It will be spun as Bruce coming to save his hometown club but we know better. He took on his so-called dream job and has discarded Sheffield Wednesday’s fans and owner like they were yesterday’s news.

So in conclusion, we would have preferred Ben Dawson over Steve Bruce.

Now it remains to be seen how the team fares against a very good Wolves side tomorrow. While it is all about fitness at this point, the team do need to show some sense of cohesion on the pitch.

A massive thrashing at the hands of Wolves will only add to the calamity of this summer.

Ashley has always wanted Bruce but never had full agreement with the board

You’d think a red and white wum would do some research

Ah Jib I had to look that one up too. Never heard of the place. But then I only lived in Hartlepool for four years as a teenager so hardly surprising. At least you didn’t go down the mackem route.

But If you show up, you are supporting the regime, end of story. There’s no other conclusion that you value your personal enjoyment more than the greater good for Nufc. What are you going to watch now???The dire football..The none existent atmosphere what???
Just curious that’s all without prejudice

if you look at ashleyisamackem previous comments on here he has stated the takeover was going through with Wenger and Gerrared coming in, and then 13 transfers in and out would happen on the same day, that prediction worked out well, smells like a fake ITK

I was at a loss as to watching something so thought a bit of comedy would lift the spirits. So I decided to speed through a selection of “s#nd@*land ’til I die” ha ha it started with Lee Clattermole saying “obviously we need to be top of the championship, automatic promotion… ” Then I raced through the episodes where that on loan striker baled on them, numb defender then gets binned after a car smash while drunk, then through to Coleman apologising for taking them down a second time. I was crying laughing no idea why I hadn’t watched this before. But then I realised Mike Ashley was still here and wondered if this was a vision of our future. So much for comedy.

None taken. Central actually, just one side of the two bridges with the Rovers in between. Been so long I don’t even know if those bridges are still there as Steetley Magnesite went some time ago. Not exactly the finest place but it toughened me up ha ha and you’ve got to have bleak origins to really appreciate things when they are good I suppose 😀

Munster – that little diatribe shows just what a disconnected observer you are, or are you just trying to curry favour as a “true supporter”? It smells like a desperate desire to be a “proper fan”. Don’t worry I believe you so don’t try so hard.

Where did I say I won’t be following results? I will. And I hope we don’t get relegated because of the fat guy. But if it is the price to pay then so be it. There are hundreds of thousands of supporters around the country who support teams in all sorts of leagues because they do so out of well – founded pride. It shouldn’t matter what league we are in as long as we exist for the right reasons. Or are you supporting us on condition of being in the top tier? Will you be supporting the manager brought in for the cynical purpose of keeping this facade going? Have a nice time doing that.

I’ll try and keep the lengthy posts down but you know how it is when you feel strongly about something that’s patently wrong, don’t you?

Peddle your cheap fibs somewhere else

Rather depends if he fancies a future job in the Ashley empire.

Some drivel that Bruce will be appointed intrem manager untill Feb 27 because Ashley always wanted him, and wanted to give him a chance before he left(our compassionate and cariing owner for you*raises eyebrow*). So he has untill that date to prove himself to BZG

Not very well thought out b0llocks

Respect to Michael Chopra for using his public profile to speak out though. If more ex-players and public Geordie figures can step up we might start getting a bit of media coverage and a swing in public opinion.

It’s going to take that kind of thing for our plight to even be relevant to the rest of the country. There is NO anti-Ashley coverage currently and then Arsenal fans write one fcuking letter and it’s all over the news!!

I think it’s time for unity
Me and Jail sniping at each other
    Munster and Tsunki
trying to score points off of each other etc. etc.
    is playing into Ashley’s hands.
My view of the overall situation is that there’s no chance
of Ashley selling outside of the PL
Having a go at whatever patsy he decides to employ is
avoiding the reality of our plight.

Kroenke at Arsenal threw Wenger to the wolves it’s only
now the gooners are realising they were deflected.

In Liverpool , the Echo newspaper was onside with the fans
    disaffection with the former owners.

More effort has to be made to get the local press involved with
    the Ashley out agenda.

    Cheers Tsunki

I wouldn’t read to much into the takeover now, embargo surely must be lifted now as Joselu sale went through and he has left.

Though share holdings can be maybe why everything is so silent and why both parties have not released an statement recently?

Then again if for say BZG had the majority of shareholding this could sanction the Joselu deal meaning, quite possibly that the takeover is in the works for a full control takeover.

Seems to me Mike had sold parts of his shares within Newcastle and now has to sell them to BZG which will of course delay the takeover?

    Just a thought though?
