L’Equipe – Bruno Genesio Was Choice Of New Takeover Group

There is a very strange report from L’Equipe that Mike Ashley has turned down a deal of €400m from another Emirati group that had involvement from Peter Kenyon.

It does not appear that this group is connected to the Bin Zayed Group or their reported takeover.

The report has comments attributed to Bruno Genesio’s agent saying that he was the choice of the group to become the manager if the takeover occurred.

This is what the L’Equipe report states that Genesio’s agent Pini Zahavi has stated:

“He was their candidate. We will find something else for Bruno.”

We have to wonder what is going on with the reports from France today and if they are just getting partial information. This could explain the report from Le Progres which stated that Genesio was due to be appointed.

The report also dubiously claims that Michael Chopra led a group in a failed takeover as well. This no doubt arises from his comments on talkSPORT this morning where Chopra claimed he put a Saudi group in touch with Lee Charnley about their interest in buying Newcastle.

Unfortunately, all of this seems to be just speculation based on unsubstantiated claims. Unless something else more substantial comes to light, all signs point to a Steve Bruce appointment.

Brucie will need broad shoulders and thick skin to cope with the shitstorm coming his way. He obviously thinks he can handle the pressure and must believe he’s heaven sent as the new messiah.

If he has fallen from heaven he obviously landed face first !

Steve Bruce was absent from Sheffield Wednesday’s friendly at Northampton amid Newcastle interest.

Well he can stay away as long as he likes and from Newcastle as well

I’m the tolerant older guy who supports the toon with a passion but Bruce is a backward step if he ends up at SJP.

Charnley should be dismissed for incompetence.
He’s taking the club back to the dark ages while most teams in Europe have entered the Age of Enlightenment

For all of the frog and his repetitive nonsense, shill accusations and braying repetition of inaccurate data.

For all of catchy from Norway and his insane ramblings and misguided use of stats to prove Rafa was useless

For all of bladeuser and his ridiculous rants against all and sundry

With all of these posters, I’ve been able to have a reasonable conversation with them and they’ve made me chuckle.

I’ve never ever wanted any of them to leave the blog.

Tony, you’ve bright me to a new low. Please disappear and never darken our door again, you’re just embarrassing.

Our Toon I think you hit the nail on the head with your post. Even if you don’t go the games and watch on telly I would expect every toon fan to want us to win and do well this season. People who are saying I hope we get relegated need to go and support the scum or Gateshead!

Just to add to all this I think the Frog should be the most respected poster on here now. While people were saying they are ITK on the takeover and Rafa won’t leave he continued to suggest the worst would happen and that has all come true! If anyone was to be listened to all this time it was the Frog!

In the red and white corner, we have Mr Sad Baloney himself, the whiner of Washington, dickweed of Dinnington, the repetitive Rokerite. Watch him face off against everyone on the blog, throwing weak punches, eventually knocking himself out and pissing his pants

In the last 4years Sports Dire share price has fallen from 800p to 235p today.
Ashley owns about 62% of the company so maybe someone can indicate just how much he’s lost. No wonder he wants to delist the business from the stock exchange.

House of Fraser is on the brink of extinction.

Hardly a role model for business is he ?

Heaven… and my missus know I’m miserable now.

It just never ends and I think it’s important that we remind ourselves what is important.

NUFC hasn’t been important in my life for many years minus a glimmer of hope under Rafa.

    Why put ourselves through it.

This isn’t even a football club.

I played football with my 10 year old niece in the garden last night, we used a tennis ball and my shoes for goalposts.

Give me that every week instead of even watching us on the TV.

I couldn’t care less anymore, what are we supporting?

Really, ask yourself that. What exactly are we supportig?

There’s no more love for NUFC whilst MA is the owner.

    It means nothing.

    BoycottNUFC.

I had a vision last night – it is possibly a sign from the Heavens that a take over is still on. Those on the blog with knowledge of these matters please examine this evidence to verify whether it is a sign or not.
    The Vision.
Chopper and Plane watch bloggers have been monitoring the night skies for anything which may be a sign. They understand with a full moon things might be seen against the backdrop of the moon.
Eureka – something is spotted . Two silhouettes – one is identified as a helicopter flying north and the other is identified as being the silhouette of a magpie in flight (after verification by a bird spotter).
The evidence is immediately reported to Eds’ Blog – the usual suspec… I mean those with knowledge of these matters immediately cream their duds and declare that the takeover is a goer. Plenty of high fives and whoopees.

About half an hour later sheepish plane and chopper spotters, with tails between their legs, announce to the blog that their initial report was erroneous – and that the items silhouetted were just a couple of dollops of bird shyte on the lense of the telescope.

Tramp. I think a lot of people are thinking the same. Is it worth it? I quit watching england ten years ago and I’ve saved myself a few thousand hours of players I don’t like boring me to death. If next season has Ashley and Bruce I’m out until ownership changes. I feel sorry for the players who I like and who seem to care for the club.

Tramp you have a good point. Several in fact. Apologies for making light of them with my reference to The Smiths.

Bet nobody’s ever said that before, mind you.

I do think when you strip away all the money, politics and nonsense from football, like when you’re playing with your niece, it’s a beautiful game. At the moment, I’m disillusioned with the whole thing.

    Our Toon

I’m with you about Steve Bruce. On that poll Neil put I was part of the 30% who said they’d support him even if they weren’t happy about his appointment. Nothing inconsistent in our position.

My question is why the hat on for Bruce by the other 70%? He hasn’t even taken a practise and they are out for his head. The focus of our ire should be Ashley and because of his uselessness in transfer windows Charnley.

Bruce will be a mediocre manager but he’ll probably keep us up if Charnley brings in a half decent striker (note to Charnley must be at least 6 feet tall we are chock full of 5’10” in a position where ht does count) and a replacement for Diame at DM.

My problem is the same as it ever was, even with Rafa we were never going to be able to compete for anything and that’s why he left… Why stay to prove you can help a weak squad overperform and overcome injuries in a squad where multiple positions have no decent cover at all (still have no natural LB if Dummett goes down and no Kenedy this time around to reassign from winger).

We’re a proper yoyo club and that’s the way Ashley likes it. Pick your absolute dream manager slot him in at Ashley’s NUFC and the best we will be is an upper-half bottom-half side with the occasional top half finish on the “Pardew principle” of random luck alone.

Those are the facts ripping Steve Bruce apart won’t change any of them.
