Press Quickly Knock Back Claims Of Bruno Genesio To Newcastle – It Was Fun While It Lasted

Aaron Stokes and Damian Spellman are pouring some cold water on the recent wildfire that was started with a French report that Bruno Genesio was due to be announced as the next Newcastle United Manager.

Aaron Stokes is a reporter from the area but works as a journalist for the Daily Star. This is what he tweeted earlier when the news of Genesio had just started to break.

Press Association reporter Damian Spellman has also followed suit and just tweeted this.

It just goes to show you how poor of an appointment Steve Bruce is that this news was so exciting.

Here is some of the reaction to the initial report that Bruno Genesio was in line to become the next Newcastle manager.

But ultimately it looks like this tweet may sum the reaction on Tyneside the best.

I don’t care whom the next manager is. Until Ashley is gone, it’s academic to me, as I will be staying away.

2 reporters have knocked it back. Funny Bruce still hasn’t been announced, Sheffield Wed. haven’t even said he’s left. If this guy is currently unemployed and requires no money to be paid Ashley will be on the phone asking for the money he’s paid so far back cos they can’t come to an agreement.

Also, if Carr is coming back or there are plans to have him recruiting, he has a penchant for bringing in players from France…

Also, for me, the fact it came out of France from a paper that has no investment or involvement with our club or is influenced as a ‘preferred media partner’ is a big thing. And he’d be free!!! The free bit alone would surely tick Ashley’s box. ‘Get him in Lee, tell him to bring his own packed lunch though’

As jib pointed out, Bruce will be appointed under the cover of darkness. Put on a plane as Mr Smith and off to China by a cheap indirect route. Give them time to figure out how to put a positive spin on the team and his return to Blighty.

Tricky part isn’t fitting the beard, sticking the false cigar in his mush or even getting the right size hat. It will be glueing a false nose on that awful face I mean where do you start?

Muz this will have been a ploy to get Sheff Wed to pull their finger out to accept the offer for Bruce.

Tsunki – i’m sure they would make less of a deal when/if Bruce is signed but it wouldn’t be us announcing it. The jig would be up when Sheffield Wednesday say he’s gone and thanks us for the compo.

Still, i feel like there might be something to this. Club ‘denials’ versus no comment is out of character if you take them as being accurate. He’s also free.

Rob I might believe it were a ploy if it came from a Mirror Group Newspaper or from a Sky reporter with ‘local’ ties; it came from France, released in French by an outlet with no ties, loyalty or anything else to the club.

Also, again, he’s free and that is a far more appealing prospect than Bruce.

I would love it, LOVE IT, if Bruce quit for nothing. Poetic justice 🙂

What is actually going on !?

Just reading an article on Sky Sports about Barcelona and why they struggled last season against Liverpool and they were talking about how at the top teams in England the training is so much more intense and how they work out the transitions and how to get the ball back quickly etc and how Barca just couldn’t cope as Messi , Suarez don’t really press anymore!

It just feels like we are now light years behind modern tactics and ideas if we employ Bruce and its going to be a struggle against every team next season!

Just putting this on here again from Neil. It’s pretty sad that a bunch of supposed adults (and fellow Toon supporters) have to be reminded of this, but here it is one more time…

We would also like to ask that posters please refrain from personal attacks on other posters. We encourage the spirit of debate and many readers bring exceptional insight in the comments section. However, we have seen some nastiness recently and, while we understand this is a very troubling time at the club, would like to ask posters to remain civil with each other even through disagreements. Thank you.

Bills son – if you hadn’t put it in caps I would probably have skimmed over this one of yours –

“And finally – NO WAY WILL I EVER ACCEPT,THINK OR BELIEVE THAT RELEGATION IS A GOOD THING”

First off nobody says relegation is a good thing, just that they would accept the pain of it if it achieved an honest resolution. I’ll bet most honest fans would support a genuine version of THEIR team in the championship rather than the Fake Ashley United in the PL. Going down a league wouldn’t dampen their loyalty.

Second, and this is the best part, I really love irony –

You do realise that statistically you will be supporting a Mike Ashley Stooge Club in the champo every five years dont you? At least. So you are pretty happy to go along with that, if that’s what it takes, are you?

    You, mush, are BUSTED.

Bills Son, respecting the right of those to boycott whilst not doing so yourself is actually the exact opposite of supporting the protest – it’s intentionally and knowingly torpedoing the boycott before it’s even begun. You may think your one occupied seat will make no difference, but that’s ultimately where all popular uprisings fall over. All it takes is for 20,000 to think the same and it’s all for nought.

It’s called apathy and it’s the anchor which drags progress back.

That said, I’ll not try to persuade you to boycott, I have no right to do so. I just would like you to recognise your apathy for what it is.

We have tried open letters to Ashley, which were not picked up by the National media, unlike Arsenal’s fans groups’ letter which was immediately seized on. In fact, the recent statement from The Magpie Group could be seen as being just that. It was not included on the BBC Website or on SSN as far as I know.

    http://www.nufcblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Boycott-Arsenal-Statement.pdf

We therefore need a different approach – if the FA are sent enough messages of discontent from a fanbase which is clearly disillusioned, they will eventually have to release a statement, which is a newsworthy event and will be picked up by the mass media.

You say they are a waste of time and can’t achieve anything. How can we know until we try? To refuse to do anything in case it doesn’t work is, once again, a sign of apathy.

“I think Ashley needs to be shamed on a national level, for example action being televised on prime time TV news.”

That’s a great idea, but we don’t have the eye of the National media currently. How do we take that first step and get noticed by them to get their cameras up here in the first place? How do we ensure that the people they end up speaking with are not nuggets who can barely string a sentence together? We need details and thought on this, otherwise it’s just an empty suggestion with no substance.

Agree with you on Jail for Ashley’s march, but that’s next May. What do we do here and now?

You say you want Ashley out, but it seems like you shoot down every decent suggestion of methods of protest. If not the ways that have been mentioned, then what? And we need specifics like others have provided, otherwise if you can’t provide decent alternatives then perhaps you should reconsider criticising those who have provided credible methods of protest.

At the very least you need to stop broadcasting that the boycott will not work. If you want to support, then encourage those that are boycotting WITHOUT saying that you won’t be. Or, just say nowt and talk about something else.

We live in a world of opinions and we choose between whats right and wrong..its all related and manifests itself in our social acting and own opinions..thats what we do . ( I know you know that)

    Act .

Iv heard many an interview on radio and witnessed on TV, at times to an embarrassing degree, Geordie being stopped in the street and asked for his/her opinion on the current plight of his, her, football club …an articulate answer is seldom forthcoming ..then again that could be the manipulators , producer , trying to make Geordie look daft . I cringe .

Amazing piece of writing from you this Morning ..had to be said despite our squabbles.

Your spot on and I just wish the media would broadcast truly what Newcastle Dis-United have become .

We never hear any good news do we .

It was suggested the other day if the powers that be decided that no club owner could promote any interests outside the club Ashley would be gone quicker than a salted slug. It would ensure the club had to succeed and win on its own merits. Add that directors withdrawals capped at a low percentage per year, and all salaries including players were also percentage of income capped. Across the board fairness would get a look in. There’d be some shenanigans with sponsors but that could be worked out too.

    Lower every day.

For once in your life pal not every one has an agenda against you or tries to bring you down with what you deem as an insult.
The truth of the matter is all I was trying to do was lighten the mood on here with a dig at myself. It is nobodies business but unfortunately throughout my life I have been scarred with this illness so please do not tar every one with your brush, As you seem to think insults are a must on here
