Press Quickly Knock Back Claims Of Bruno Genesio To Newcastle – It Was Fun While It Lasted

Aaron Stokes and Damian Spellman are pouring some cold water on the recent wildfire that was started with a French report that Bruno Genesio was due to be announced as the next Newcastle United Manager.

Aaron Stokes is a reporter from the area but works as a journalist for the Daily Star. This is what he tweeted earlier when the news of Genesio had just started to break.

Press Association reporter Damian Spellman has also followed suit and just tweeted this.

It just goes to show you how poor of an appointment Steve Bruce is that this news was so exciting.

Here is some of the reaction to the initial report that Bruno Genesio was in line to become the next Newcastle manager.

But ultimately it looks like this tweet may sum the reaction on Tyneside the best.

Tsunki, sad thing is that the Premier League is a private members’ club of the rich and mega-rich.

They vote on their own rules and would have to vote that one in themselves, against their own interests.

Don’t expect any assistance from the Premier League against Ashley – if they admit that what he’s doing is wrong, they’ll be implying that they’re all in the wrong, to a greater or lesser extent.

Another excellent post at #36 .

Alighting on here after a few days and hoping to read some good news , no chance!

It’s good to read some well thought out posts at a time when the media are hiding theirs and not helping our cause.

Ashley does not want the national media on his case and that is what he fears and that’s what we have to do ..

Alan Shearer could do a lot of damage right now but he won’t because Bruce is his mate.

They all have their own agenda.

Re the boycott and those doubting its impact. Throughout the years of dross we’ve had to endure, one thing has remained constant and is the one thing we are largely known for – a full house. If, this season, the gates were to drop dramatically (20-30,000), that would certainly make the media and footballing world at large sit up and take notice. It might not hurt Ashley financially, but the negative attention might.

I haven’t been to sjp since Keegan left for the second time, so I don’t really have a dog in the fight. Giving up my ticket was hard for a season, but I got over it and genuinely don’t miss it now. I’ll return once the club is being seen to be run correctly. Whomever is at the helm.

After seeing all the praise for your comment at 8.28 I scrolled back to read it and whilst I agree that it’s well crafted and thought out I would suggest that the strangulation actually started before Ashlie, his regime is just an additional burden on the health of the club that has been suffering for years.

The golden periods of SBR and KK have in fact been hope raising blips on the continuing demise of what should be a mighty club, we have had in fact a series of false dawns.

The continuing sale of our top stars has been a relentless kick in the face of top class supporters who deserved better.

Other than the European Inter City Fairs Cup which we were lucky to qualify for we’ve won nothing.

Love them or hate them teams like Liverpool, Manchester United and yes even Leeds along with the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus, Ajax to name but a few have claims to greatness. Other than our early years up the 1950s what can we put on the table, a few near misses and that’s it. Compared to those clubs we can claim nowt.

Sorry but the club has been in decline for years despite a decent effort by SJH to kick start it.

I’ve always hoped over my 60+ years as a supporter that we would finally break out of the rut, but the last 12 years are trampling those lingering dreams into the dirt.

You can try to put some gloss on the pre Ashlie years but it’s only the thinnest of veneers I’m afraid.

We need a rich sugar daddy to even give us chance in the modern football era and even that is looking like a forlorn hope, regrettably.

    Still whilst there’s life!

Tsunki – First off nobody says relegation is a good thing, just that they would accept the pain of it if it achieved an honest resolution. I’ll bet most honest fans would support a genuine version of THEIR team in the championship rather than the Fake Ashley United in the PL. Going down a league wouldn’t dampen their loyalty.

    Utter pie in the sky..

You really think if we get relegated, lose our best players, change ownership that we’ll somehow have a God given right to come straight back in the Prem?

The big word in your post above is IF.

Does an ‘honest resolution’ mean you’d be happy with years in the Champs or 3rd Division?

The best way to get rid of Ashley is to stay in the Prem because that gives buyers the biggest kick for their buck from Sky, it means we are far more likely to have a better and more valuable squad and crucially that Ashley is far more likely to get the price he wants.

It is totally delusional to risk settling for relegation on the premise that salvation will follow.

And, as for your claim that most fans of ours and other clubs would settle for that…

The extremists on here might… but I bet the majority of sensible fans would definitely not.

    Referring to earlier threads

If Bruce has resigned his post at SW and Ashley won’t agree compen, then Bruce’s up the creek – if he signs for Ashley without SW agreement, then SW’ll have a legitimate case to hit NUFC for poaching.

And, if what Chopra said about Ashley’s solicitor, Henderson, telling Chopra to tell the Saudi to come and see him, can we draw a parallel with Ashley’s arrogance in Dubai – getting pissed while waiting for Mansour to contact him! The arrogance, ignorance beggars belief.

And if Genesio really returned to Lyon before joining Newcastle, to conclude the formalization of a new and beautiful experience – well, somebody’s been smoking something nice! That reminds me, I must visit Lyon to get some!

    And

Baloney, Bills son’s back….. Ffs stop spoiling for an argument and crying victim. Better still, … %&* off to some other site that caters for headbangers

    Arsenal Game .

Need 4 people with handcuffs to cuff themselves to the back of the stanchion’s on each goal , one in each corner . If a few take along cuffs with the intention of doing this you will be there for a purpose and not seen as attending the game ..

If more than a dozen do this and walk into the goal when the first 4 protesters are cut free the match will be held up for a good hour and be seen world wide ..highlighting Ashley and his disgusting running of the club .

” We have not got the Newcastle V Arsenal score as match was delayed due to protesters hancuffing themselves to the goals ”

The world’s media will cotton on and not be in Ashleys pocket like the British media so will take up on our plight and the story here.

It will also knock all the TV skeds right out ..advertising etc ..Sky will not like that ..and the Prem league , who sell us as a product world wide will maybe start to listen .

I see Media Darlings Arsenal are getting plenty of coverage straight off after only 2 days of protests..it was same when they wanted rid of Arsene , media straight on it.

We are largely ignored up north .

We are too soft ! We are pussy footing around trying to do all this in a gentlemanly fashion , no good , we need to make waves ..a statement of intent within the ranks then do it !

Something radical needs to happen .

    Robleenio,

Your reply is just talking round in circles.

You are accusing everyone who will turn up against Arsenal as being apathetic.

That we are all Ashley apologists settling for mediocrity.

    How arrogant is that.

The truth is we want to SUPPORT the team – we want to WIN the game – we want to go home or to the bar punching the air and full of SMILES.

You and your cohorts who accuse us of anything else are burying yourself in your own bile.

    And I’ll guarantee you this…

There will be more inside SJP shouting the team on (and barracking Ashley) than there will be of you lot crossing your fingers hoping we get hammered.

Lesh – technically, it’d only be Bruce up the creek since he’s the only one capable of breaking the contract he was with Sheffield Wednesday. He’d be open for a prize f***ing from SW’s legal team. He can put his notice in writing as much as he wants but he still needs to be released from his contract.

Although nowhere near as complex as the contracts in football, I exclusively work as a contractor. If I left a client after taking their money for months and wasting their time for another job, I’d sharp find myself in court.

Which is why I think there’s more to these rumours about Genesio than meets the eye. Ashley has said he will pay x amount to release Bruce and Chansiri wants more. We all know Ashley isn’t that kind of negotiator…plus, according to some twittershphere users Genesio is indeed in Newcastle.

Whatever happens, it’s going to get more interesting before it’s resolved.
