Aaron Stokes and Damian Spellman are pouring some cold water on the recent wildfire that was started with a French report that Bruno Genesio was due to be announced as the next Newcastle United Manager.
Aaron Stokes is a reporter from the area but works as a journalist for the Daily Star. This is what he tweeted earlier when the news of Genesio had just started to break.
Just spoken to a French source with ties to Bruno Genesio. He seemed just as confused as most #NUFC fans when asked about those Le Progres claims…
— Aaron Stokes (@AaronJStokes) July 16, 2019
Press Association reporter Damian Spellman has also followed suit and just tweeted this.
Just had it knocked down by a second source.
— Damian Spellman (@DamianSpellman) July 16, 2019
It just goes to show you how poor of an appointment Steve Bruce is that this news was so exciting.
Here is some of the reaction to the initial report that Bruno Genesio was in line to become the next Newcastle manager.
So the reports MA has turned his attentions to Bruno genesio now that would be a great acquisition #nufc
— Allan Miller (@TcTaxi) July 16, 2019
Thought it was odd #NUFC hadn't revealed Bruce as manager if it was a 'done deal'. Scepticism levels through the roof but Bruno Genesio would be a manager that fits the bill. Would work under a DoF model if Ashley stays, is infinitely more appealing to buyers if he sells the club
— Muz (@IllustriousMuz) July 16, 2019
odds for Bruno Génésio to be the next manager have plummeted. 3/1 on betfair lol #nufc
— Andy (@Moleps1892) July 16, 2019
Despite the financial loss we'd suffer if #nufc employed Bruno Genesio instead of Bruce it would be absolute karma working its thang!
Karma always gets you #swfc
— Rich Davies (@dickyowl) July 16, 2019
Bruno Genesio’s black and white army!
— KP (@Kieranpalmer12) July 16, 2019
Going for Bruno Genesio would be bloody amazing! Just want it to true…as I believe #nufc would play great football with him as manager!
— Jamie (@fran3ky) July 16, 2019
But ultimately it looks like this tweet may sum the reaction on Tyneside the best.
#NUFC fans hearing reports from France that Bruno Genesio is on Tyneside 'about to finalise a deal' to become their new boss, before Steve Bruce is inevitably announced hours later… pic.twitter.com/ihmGIbsYur

Comment #81Bills Son “You are accusing everyone who will turn up against Arsenal as being apathetic”
Nope, just you – most who go won’t be bothered about Ashley, but you say you want him gone. You just seem to burn everybody else’s ideas to make that happen without coming up with any of your own. That’s either ignorance or apathy, which one is it?
You accuse me of arrogance, but you are the one demanding Ashley leaves without actually bringing yourself to do anything about it. You’re sitting back and demanding that he’s removed for you. That’s arrogance.
Why support the team when you know that they’re just a sop for the masses? Any big-name stars brought in between now and the Arsenal game are just a shot of morphine designed to dull the pain of Ashley’s tenure. You’re an intelligent guy, surely you can see this?
How can you punch the air and smile when you know that what you’re cheering is a false facade pinned onto a rotten edifice?
I’ll not persuade you to stop going to the game, as I won’t Charlie in the Gallowgate or anyone else. What I object to is your tactics of division – you’re actually referring to ‘us lot’ and ‘you lot’. That’s not what’s required at this time.
So, get behind the lads who are boycotting even if you don’t intend to take part and stop crowing about how it’ll do no good and you’ll be having a right laugh while they’ll all be feeling left out. That’s not support, that’s the direct opposite.
I would be interested to know what your motives are in talking the boycott down, if you intend to go anyway then it’s no skin off your nose if it happens or not

Comment #84Tsunki……… Great post this morning highlighting our plight. You should consider journalism full time as that piece puts to shame the drivel penned by most of the footy journos especially the local ones.
Lots of aggressive PR on the blog at the moment trying to divide and conquer no doubt but having the opposite effect and creating more anger and resentment towards our hateful owner.

We won’t pay 4M for a striker this window so we definitely won’t pay Sheffield that much. Can we send them Peter Beardsley and some nut clusters in a straight swap?

Comment #91The article is a joke. Bruce would not have resigned unless he knew the job was his. I have concluded that we will never be rid of Ashley unless we are a stable PL club. He will never need to sell, despite some of his other investments performing poorly, so why would he sell in a lower league when no one would come close to matching his value. We have to stay up, but that’s why we backed Rafa as we saw him as the best bet for staying up, making it easier for Ashley to sell. So crash and burn will never work, as he’s not Lerner or Short. Our options are to withdraw support until he goes (who dies first!), go and watch another club or carry on going to Toon matches in the hope that one summer in the future someone meets his value and buys the club. Options 1 and 3 could be in play for years. I cancelled my season ticket a few years ago following Ashley actions, but renewed when Rafa came in. I have not renewed this summer, but I could well renew at some point again. He knows we do this as can track it. We can’t win unless we make it easy for him to sell, no matter how pissed off we are with him. Head f**k

Level 7 Milburn/Leazes – 2,868 seats available
Rest of Milburn – 2,239 seats available
Rest of Leazes – 3,327 seats available
East Stand 1,999 seats available
Gallowgate 2,980 seats available
Not including the Platinum or corporate hospitality .And if you think there was only 5,600 left this time last season,Then that is a significant drop

Comment #102If Arsenal travelling fans are peed off with their club’s owner, I wonder if we can expect to see big gaps in the away end at SJP.
That would be useful as the media will pick up on a drop in the gooners’ support and that must surely lead their attention to the gaping voids in the home fans’ sections. Post match phone calls to BBC radio, Talksport etc could prove useful in getting out message out to the world at large.

Comment #104West Ham to spend £45million on Haller. The Ass-lie era is so bleak and joyless.
Regarding the Arsenal game – a few years back i took my boy to St James park for the first time – we were playing Arsenal. We lost, Mitrovich was sent off, and we didn’t have one shot on target all match!!!! Welcome son to the Ass-Lie era.
Rafa was just starting to give us hope that even with minimal invesment from Ass-Lie that Rafa could create a team that we could believe in. But that hope has gone. I frankly think the football next season will be dire

Comment #11512 years of Ashley and maybe 12 more to come the way things are looking. Years when avoiding relegation is the clubs highest, and only ambition. Joyless, without a soul, black and white changed to a depressing shade of grey.
As long as Ashley continues to squat on nufc like a giant, malevolent toad then talk of managers, transfers, and tactics.. normal football stuff .. is a waste of time. If the takeover really was a mirage or just another ‘sale’ that foundered on the rocks of Ashley’s greed then nothing is going to change unless the fans can make it change.
So huge respect to those giving effort, ideas, and time to trying to make that happen. Of course there are no guarantees of success but doing nothing certainly will guarantee more of the same.

Comment #117I would back any manager if I thought they could improve the team and increase the chances of a sale. That’s what I was backing with Rafa, certainly not the football as it was dire. But I thought someone would buy us and we could then see some genuine investment and better football. So we have to press the restart button. If it works for Bruce then we have to hope for a sale next summer. That’s all we can cling onto. There’ll certainly be no sale if we get relegated, as the FCB does not need the cash. If he needed the cash he’d have sold this summer.
And this Mackem thing with Bruce is pathetic. I think you’ll find that the Mackems greatest hero, Bob Stokoe, was a Geordie and won the cup with NUFC in the 50’s. It’s small minded.

Comment #118It’s said that illness brings ‘family’ closer together, regardless of their differences.
Our club is ill (some would say terminally although I prefer to believe there is a cure). It has been ill for many years and the disease has so far spread through many parts (if not most) of the club.
We all know the disease that shadows our club, it has only one name.
The rest are nothing more than symptoms that simply wouldn’t exist without the diseases presence.
DO NOT let it spread through the fan base with pointless bickering…….be united because WE are the cure!!!!
