German outlet Kicker is reporting that any move for Hoffenheim striker Joelinton from England is not as advanced as recent claims suggest.
News broke yesterday of Newcastle readying a club record deal for the Brazilian. These reports were from the Daily Mail and the Telegraph.
It was Luke Edwards of the Telegraph who furthered the claim when he stated that a deal was in place for Joelinton:
Newcastle have a deal in place to sign Brazilian striker Joelinton from Hoffenheim, but the need to have a manager in place is growing more urgent by the day as they also need him to give the green light to that transfer.
This is what Kicker is reporting today:
At the moment, Joelinton is at the training ground of TSG Hoffenheim in Zuzenhausen despite reports from England that the transfer of the attacker is nearing completion.
It is also planned that the Brazilian will travel with the club to their training camp in Windischgarsten.
According to information received by Kicker, an imminent departure of the 22-year-old is not to be expected, even if Newcastle United was already after the prospect in the winter.
The report also says that the fee could be well past the reported £36m from yesterday.
It details the recent departures of left-back Nico Shulz to Dortmund for €25.5m and midfielder Kerem Demirbay to Leverkusen for €32m to suggest that Hoffenheim have no need to sell.
This makes perfect sense as Joelinton just had his contracted extended in November to 2022. Last season was also his first with the German club after he spent two years on loan in Austria with Rapid Vienna.
They may see Joelinton as a big part of their future and be unwilling to part with the player.
No to sound too cynical but this report came at the same time that Newcastle extended the window for people to renew their season tickets.
While it’s most likely coincidental, you can’t blame anyone for making that connection.

Comment #42To add context, I hate everything about NUFC/SDFC and Bruce is about as bad a choice as it is possible to make. Only Peter Reid would incite more hatred, and he was probably next on Charmless’ list.
Not bashing Rafa, just making an observation.

Comment #46he was abusive and sickening about the toon in his playing days. FACT
he turned us down as manager. FACT
he has been photographed holding up a mackem scarf. FACT
he was arrogant and made snide comments about the toon whilst mackem manager. FACT
he had a special song ready to take the pee out of the geordies when sunderland beat us. luckily they didnt. FACT
he was seen celebrating like crazy when the mackems scored again the toon. FACT
he suffers very badly when under any kind of pressure. FACT. evidence is there in his interviews.
he pretends to be one of the lads and sensible and puts on an act in interviews to sound like an average guy. MY OPINION
So the mackem thing is an issue with me. The bloke is a disgrace and I will never support him even if we got taken over (although I would probably go back. yes I know). Just being honest.
And he is bringing his dirty cheesy chip brigade with him. This is not MY TOON. It is MAFC.
One day I will get my toon back. In the meantime I refuse to support mackems.

You are an absolute joke.
I’ve answered your question on proof of funds – I said I’ll agree with you.
So you now answer the question you’ve been ducking, diving and bull$shitting your way through for two days…
WHAT WAS THE “MOST OF IT” THAT YOU DIDN’T AGREE WITH IN MY POST.??
I’m sure all your pals on here would love to know.

Comment #55The Premier League web site shows the only current director of the club is Lee Charnley. I don’t think anybody really knows other than what Ashley tells them. Which probably changes by the day depending on his mood. To me it looks like Lee Charnley takes it as he is the only name on both lists and I had previously seen mention of other board members being let go. This still strikes me as odd. One board member. That would be an interesting meeting. Lee “bring the board meeting to order. Right then, any questions from anyone? Very well. Bring the board meeting to a close.”

Comment #56We should help Arsenal out and offer them Mike Ashley for Stan Kroenke .
We could drove him down and deliver him personally.
Arsenal and London must be a target market for Sports Direct merchandise and with London’s massive population the opportunity is too great for Ashley to resist and the Sports Direct hoardings would refresh the Emirates which is looking a bit tatty these days.
Ok we get Kroeneke who doesn’t want to splash the cash but we’re used to that and we’d get rid of the tatty shop man.
Everyone’s a winner

After writing my summary post of my opinions – one of which was that I didn’t believe BZG had provided proof of funds – Optimistic Panda claimed that Ashley had made a public statement saying without that the books couldn’t be looked at.
I questioned that and OP then comes out with “anyway I disagree with most of what you posted”
I’ve said today I’ll believe the Ashley statement was true even though I haven’t seen it.
But… I’ve been asking him for TWO DAYS to state what he doesn’t agree with in my post.
HE REFUSES TO ANSWER AND JUSTIFY HIS STATEMENT.
Instead he’s called me a cretin, blah, blah, name calling, blah, blah.
JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION PANDA.

Comment #66My guess is that Ashley feels he doesn’t need any other NUFC board of directors members since his pet chimp Lee is there to look after things (and only 2 relegations to date, remember that point lads).

Comment #73Ladies and Gents, all this infighting on the blog is music to Ashley’s ears, an opinion is just that an opinion.
We don’t have to agree but calling people out is demoralizing to the way we support the club.
This is why Mike wins all the time, he knows to give it some time and the fans turn on each other.
A few weeks back we had some good support for boycotting etc.
If we fight on here how can we come together as the Toon Army is some are awol.
Let’s not give Ashley what he wants and have us fighting, I know he or someone reads this blog and if we show him we cannot get along, he is just sitting laughing thinking dumb Geordies.
Mike don’t worry, I feel the Toon Army will come together and show you we ain’t the screwed up.
