If it didn’t already feel like 2015 with an underwhelming Head Coach being announced who’s been promised a larger transfer budget. Then a link to Charlie Austin will do just the trick.
Football Insider 247 are reporting that Newcastle are looking to sign the disgruntled Southampton striker after he has been transfer listed.
This is what Wayne Veysey is reporting as an exclusive:
Newcastle United are plotting a bid to sign newly available Southampton striker Charlie Austin, Football Insider understands.
A Newcastle source has told Football Insider the club have turned their attention to Austin after he was transfer listed by Southampton.
Austin has been in the news over the past few days for all the wrong reasons. He tweeted a picture of the frozen Jack Nicholson from The Shining yesterday indicating he had been frozen out of the club.
This was in reference to him not being part of Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl’s pre-season squad for their training camp in Austria.
Charlie Austin– strongly linked to Newcastle four years ago
Austin has just one year remaining on his contract and reportedly wants to see if out with Southampton. So much so that he has just rejected a move to West Brom.
The report has Austin’s fee set at ÂŁ8m but if Newcastle are truly interested they may be able to get him for much less. However, at 30 years old he is well past his best.
He’s scored 20 goals in his 81 appearances for Saints since joining them two and a half years ago from QPR. He has proven to be at best a top Championship level player.
He did manage an excellent 66 goals in 129 appearances in England’s second division. He has, however, failed to reciprocate that rate in the Premier League.
We don’t see much in this one, to be honest. If we’re going to bring in a broken down 30-year-old striker, we might as well bring back our own Andy Carroll.

I wonder how the legal stuff with Sheffield Wednesday is going to work out. Will Bruce be allowed in the dugout at SJP if Wednesday stand firm (and I hope they do)?

Please take out Injunctions against Bruce, Charnley and Ashley that set up exclusion zones preventing them from entering the environs of SJP or working there or having anything to do with NUFC.

Comment #13I agree that Lazaar and Aarons should have gone in the other direction…but if MA rejected that and only offered the compo, then surely he’s left himself open to legal action?
Wednesday obviously didn’t agree to only compo money & didn’t accept the resignation…yet I bet MA weasels his way out of this!!!

Ashley’s pal Simon Jordan served an injunction on Steve Bruce
when he left Crystal Palace to return to Birmingham City18 years ago
in similar circumstances to the current situation twixt SW and NUFC

Comment #24If Sheffield Wednesday take the appropriate legal action against NUFC then surely the FA sanctions could include Newcastle having to play home matches behind closed doors, starting with the Arsenal match. That would deprive Spots Dire of their TV exposure and put them in conflict with Sky.
Perfect.
And for the first time the FA would be officially sanctioning a boycott

Good on Carlton Op and yourself
I knew of protest from something you posted yesterday or earlier today that it was to be at 6:00 but not who organised it NUST or TMG ? or what was expected to happen and given low turnout how it was publicised.
Haven’t seen pictures on SSN but it was briefly mentioned around 6:15 and Steve Wraith was interviewed and got some good messages across.
Whilst there is growing annoyance by the day it seems a lot will be hanging on what happens ‘re Arsenal boycott .

That’s my view he would not be able to take up managing or coaching duties anywhere if an injunction against him was successful.
Sheffield wed would have to prove he was actively encouraged by NUFC to leave which would not be easy beyond conjecture I suspect so action would be against Bruce. Not saying he wasn’t persuaded but doubt it would be in writing.
Would stop him for a time though

How can fans talk about what the team needs?
“We need 2 fullbacks”..
“we need 2 strikers”..
“We need 2 wingers”.. etc etc ect..
What the H.LL are you on? We need the fat bastard out!!!
An for those who says that we should support the manager and players of the club.. what are you on? The players should be ashamed for playing under the current regime!!
Players talking about Bruce like he is a good manager, and that they vant wait to meet the man.. what the fcuk? They are taking the piss at us!
I say Lascelles, Ritchie and the rest of them can fcuk off as well!!
I cannot get excited about signings anymore, as is not gonna solve anything anymore..
I do not even get excited about rumours anymore.. We could be linked with players like Kane, Firmino, Sala etc.. i do not care anymore!
As long they play under the fat fcuking liar/thief, they are not worthy of wearing the Black and White stripes.
Ashley, Charnley, Bruce and the players can go fcuk themselves, and i hope the Wolves game was just the first of many severe defeats for a long time.

Comment #36Judas Bruce has demonstrated his duplicity in suddenly resigning from Wednesday – leaving them in the lurch. Not really trustworthy behaviour – him Tubbs and Junior Tubbs will probably get on well together. I can imagine the three of them having a summit together with each one telling porkies to the others. Each one later thinking with glee that they have conned the other two – never assuming that the others also think they have conned the others.
Scumbags of the first order.

Comment #37Genjikai, are TMG aware of this guy’s tweet?
I’d think, given Arsenal’s clearly larger media pull, a joint protest on the opening day could be a good idea.
