Newcastle United Appoint Steve Bruce As New Head Coach

Newcastle have just made the dreaded announcement that Steve Bruce will replace the legendary Rafa Benitez as the next manager of Newcastle United.

Here is the tweet confirming this questionable selection as manager:

This is what Steve Bruce has said of his appointment:

“I’m delighted and incredibly proud to be appointed as head coach of Newcastle United. This is my boyhood club and it was my dad’s club, so this is a very special moment for me and my family.

“There is a huge challenge ahead of us, but it’s one that my staff and I are ready for. We’ll roll our sleeves up and we’ll be giving it everything from the off to ensure supporters have a successful team that they can be proud of.”

Lee Charnley, managing director at Newcastle United, said: “Steve has a deep affection for Newcastle United and we are very pleased that a coach with his vast experience and connections to the club and city has joined us.

“Steve knows what this club means to supporters and to the region and he will put his heart and soul into leading our talented group of players with the full support of our staff.

“The hard work for Steve and his team starts immediately and we will be fully prepared for the challenge of a new Premier League season.

“I would place on record my thanks to Ben Dawson, Neil Redfearn and our medical and support staff for the way in which they have worked together to oversee the start of our pre-season preparations.”

He will travel to China to join the club after their preseason match today against Wolves.

We are very disappointed in this development and had hoped that the club would not make this decision.

However, it has been made and we must accept that this is who will manage the team going forward.

    Comments when managing Sunderland.

“Managing Newcastle has never been my dream as a boss. I’m in football management now and I look for the right job more than anything else. And this opportunity at Sunderland has got everything I want – the infrastructure, the fan base, an ambitious chairman and an ambitious owner.”

It’s irrelevant, the only thing that matters is removing Ashley from his perch.

At least it’s news, the first bit of news we’ve had since Rafa left, other than Liam Gibson going on loan. Good luck to him (Liam that is, don’t care about Bruce)

For god’s sake do not go to that 1st game against Arsenal.
We need a completely empty stadium beamed live on TV across the globe to demonstrate we are not happy as a collective.
If you go, it looks like we don’t give a sh!t as a body of NUFC support. Just a few moaners and the rest are in FULL support.

Fatty knows this and is playing you like a fiddle. Wise up. It’s 1 game!
