What The Squad Is Saying About The Appointment Of Steve Bruce

Here are a few quotes from some key members of the squad on the announcement of Steve Bruce as the new Newcastle United Head Coach.

This is a small quote from Matt Ritchie but one that has cause a bit of controversy to say the least. What is he supposed to say? Remember, Matt Ritchie never does anything in half measure. It is always to the extreme. So that can explain his enthusiasm just a little.

“Bruce has been in the game for a long time and played and managed at a high level so I’m sure he’ll be fantastic for the club. A really exciting season is in prospect.”

Federico Fernandez gives a more measured response while referencing the poor performance in the match today. He also mentions the situation from the fans perspective.

“Of course, the new manager is coming. We’re looking forward to working with him, a man with great experience.

“Ben has given us a fantastic two weeks. This was not the best experience, but now we’re thinking positive, and looking forward to working with him.

“I understand the fans and the situation, but, for us, we want to work and be better as a team, try to work hard – to be ready for the new season.

“We want to show the fans and everyone we can compete. Of course, fans maybe want a different manager or players, but we need to work hard to show we are ready for the Premier League.”

Jamaal Lascelles has called for unity as the captain should. It’s time for the squad to kick on now. In their minds, they can do nothing about the owner situation and must press on despite the negativity surrounding Steve Bruce.

“We’re all looking forward to it. We’ve been waiting for him to come in, now it’s confirmed we’re looking forward to it.

“He’s a well known manager who has done well in the Premier League and the Championship.

“Now manager’s coming in, we’re looking forward.

“Most clubs are pretty settled by pre-season, unfortunately it didn’t happen but it’s not the end of the world.

“It’s important everyone gets behind Steve Bruce. We’ve got to stick together. It’s the best thing we can do, we can’t be pointing the finger and having a go.”

We need fowards, Caroll to come home and partner Sturridge anyone?

Any other free injury prone players we can get on the cheap?

Carroll and Sturbridge on a 100k a week – don’t think we’ll be able to afford anyone else even on a free

    Bills Son Is Back

even if we do get him and he turns out to be a world beater it still mean we’re only one injury away from disaster. we have no back up no strength in the squad if a first teamer gets injured we’re goosed and players will still leave before the window closes,
if Bruce is only head coach who’s buying the players and why haven’t they got them in sooner they must have known for weeks what was needed and that they were going for a coach not a manager ??

Imagine a few seasons ago that duo would be worth 50-60 million,Now available for nothing. I think there wages will be a stumbling block would take any on a pay as you play basis

Don’t know if it’s been said, but West Ham are working on a striker deal to go with their new winger. Joelinton is probably on the way there.
We don’t have anyone in place to sign anyone, do we?

They could just about manage a season between them, so yes, I’d take them on a pay as you play. Maybe get 20 goals between the two of them if we were lucky

Bruce has never done well in the prem, highest finish was 10th – obviously perfect for fatty.
I’m guessing we’ll be bottom of league , change of manager around Xmas and may scrape to 19th ( presuming if course any manager would come ), 11th on the list … Jeez, even out of work managers such as Allardyce and Moyes turned us down ..talk about scraping the barrel

Hibbit, I was being sarcastic – I don’t want either at toon – they play 10 games a season and take whole wage bill, however at the moment we have nobody

I can absolutely see Carroll being brought back to add to the narrative of one of our own that this summer is obviously going to be built around. Sad thing is, under different circumstances I’d have been quite happy with him on a pay as you play deal.

I think that would be a no brainer mate to be honest.Last season Klopp paid tribute to Sturridge but said his injury record let him down.
A fit Sturridge or Carroll would guarantee as many goals as a Rondon,The same can be said for Welbeck.

Would they take the hit in wages tho mate??

Imagine spending a small fortune going to the Olympics to watch your hero Michael Phelps win gold in the pool but when the races start he dives in and treads water.

That’s what it is to be a Nufc fan under Ashley.

Excellent suggestion about Carrol and sturidge. But we don’t have managing director who has the brains to come up with such a plan, or a chairman willing to pay there wages. shame really cause that would guarantee us another season in PL

Rondon stats weren’t good either mate, joelinton much like rondon has a rounded game and creates space for others.

I think he would do well but I’ll believe it when I see it as he ain’t signed

When Liverpool signed Firmino ,He roughly had the same record as Joelinton so don’t read to much into his record.
Almiron how many goals has he scored for us but we rate him as good buy

Exactly my point mate regarding these injury prone players. Its risk free for Nufc because we only pay if they play. And if they do stay fit then I think they would score as many as Rondon

West Ham just signed Sebastien Haller to a club record deal (£40M+) as their new striker to replace Arnautovic.

At least it would appear West Ham aren’t going to pull a Remy on us like Palace did – now someone else might while Ashley likely dithers over the price for Joe.

I wonder how many managers said no before they got to Bruce.

Bruce is obviously desperate I wonder how desperate we were.

If they’ve known since May maybe Charnleys list was canny long in the end.

We can expect the Sky helicopter shots of Joelinton arriving for his medical by private car to sign this ground breaking transfer for Mike Ashley and his mates at sky there all the way to cover him in glory. when Villa a new team promoted can drop 100 million straight way its disgusting they way he runs his poundshop football club NUFC.
