What The Squad Is Saying About The Appointment Of Steve Bruce

Here are a few quotes from some key members of the squad on the announcement of Steve Bruce as the new Newcastle United Head Coach.

This is a small quote from Matt Ritchie but one that has cause a bit of controversy to say the least. What is he supposed to say? Remember, Matt Ritchie never does anything in half measure. It is always to the extreme. So that can explain his enthusiasm just a little.

“Bruce has been in the game for a long time and played and managed at a high level so I’m sure he’ll be fantastic for the club. A really exciting season is in prospect.”

Federico Fernandez gives a more measured response while referencing the poor performance in the match today. He also mentions the situation from the fans perspective.

“Of course, the new manager is coming. We’re looking forward to working with him, a man with great experience.

“Ben has given us a fantastic two weeks. This was not the best experience, but now we’re thinking positive, and looking forward to working with him.

“I understand the fans and the situation, but, for us, we want to work and be better as a team, try to work hard – to be ready for the new season.

“We want to show the fans and everyone we can compete. Of course, fans maybe want a different manager or players, but we need to work hard to show we are ready for the Premier League.”

Jamaal Lascelles has called for unity as the captain should. It’s time for the squad to kick on now. In their minds, they can do nothing about the owner situation and must press on despite the negativity surrounding Steve Bruce.

“We’re all looking forward to it. We’ve been waiting for him to come in, now it’s confirmed we’re looking forward to it.

“He’s a well known manager who has done well in the Premier League and the Championship.

“Now manager’s coming in, we’re looking forward.

“Most clubs are pretty settled by pre-season, unfortunately it didn’t happen but it’s not the end of the world.

“It’s important everyone gets behind Steve Bruce. We’ve got to stick together. It’s the best thing we can do, we can’t be pointing the finger and having a go.”

I actually think Joelinton will be a decent signing if it comes off what a joke we are atm. A completely uninspiring hiring (to put it mildly). I just hope a few signings doesn’t quell the unrest over there atm. Need to keep the pressure and not give in. Wish there was more I could do abroad. #BruceOut #AshleyOut

    Almiron is a wide player
    Muto is dirt

Need direct replacements for Perez and Rondon

Joelinton be a start and shows us some investment. My fear is Mike will sanction a move for Joelinton funded by the Perez money. Now what money is used to replace Perez because Rondon left for nowt.

Joelinton is Rondons replacement if he signs. A younger, unproven version. We’d still need a Perez replacement. On top of that, we need to strengthen both fullback positions, as well as replacing diame and eventually Hayden, although I have a feeling saivet and colback will be the bodies in those positions

I still want to see a bit more of saivet, as he’s not really had any sort of run in the side. Colback is a trier but just gives away too many fouls.

Not sure I can see Mash sanctioning 5 to 6 players.

Well, if we can’t be united on a blog in terms of boycotting, we’ve got no hope getting the fat man out of the club.

Bruce, by accepting the job, is up there with being as bad as Ashlie.

The statements put out make out he’s one of us and gets the fans – if he truly did he would have told fatty where to stick it, like all the others who were approached for the job did.

My opinion is Ashlie absolutely hated us chanting Rafa’s name… Why.. Simply because he’s jealous. His club, his money, yet we adored Rafa like it was his club, not Ashlie’s.

Rafa was the light, end of. Now he’s gone we have to remain focused of getting rid of the parasite. 30/40m signings should not swing things in Ashlie’s favour and have the fans queing up for tickets. I can already see this turning.

Bruclie on a 3 year deal also shows he aint budging anytime soon.

Hope the FA or whoever come down hard on fatty if latest Sheff Wed statements are true. One can only hope.

The EPL has evolved big time over the last few years and just to survive, an astute manager with a modern outlook and excellent tactical awareness is required. Bruce is not that manager end of story.
How Ashley and his dopey sidekick aka Harry Hill on crack can not see that this appointment will result in disaster when almost everyone else can is just typical . To lumber us with Soggy Dumpling Heed after allowing Rafa to go and screwing up the takeover yet again is an act of wanton recklessness and he deserves everything that’s coming his way and more.

If we sign joelinton and it’s a big if for £30 million. He will.be on a fair wedge but what does that mean for the wage structure, is it the Tepid Tapeworm way to sell off our better players when they object?

    That’s just chuffing hilarious!!!!

Did they not see what happened with Rafa when he wanted Rondon on a permanent deal?

Have they not read Bruce’s job title? He’s one up from boot boy and has the same input into transfer business.

Listen lads and lasses, I know Bruce night seem like an awful choice.

I know our transfer dealings have been poor

I know our squad is threadbare

I know we’re likely to lose at least one more player before the window shuts

I know we’re likely to be in a relegation scrap all season

I know this Ashley induced nightmare is likely to continue for some years to come….

    ….

    What?

    You’re waiting for the but?

You’ll probably catch a glimpse of it when Bruce takes charge of the first training session.
