Inside Futbol are reporting that Newcastle United are upset with Hoffenheim confirming that Joelinton was in talks with a Premier League club.
This is what the Hoffenheim Twitter account tweeted earlier today when news broke that Joelinton was not in the matchday squad for the friendly against Regensburg
Joe ist nicht da, er steht in konkreten Verhandlungen mit einem Premiere League Klub. Kann sein, dass er uns verlässt.

This tweet translates to:
He is in concrete negotiations with a Premier League club. It may be that he leaves us.
This is what Inside Futbol is reporting about Newcastle’s reaction to this confirmation by Hoffenheim.
However, it has been claimed that the Magpies are disappointed that their interest in Joelinton has been put into the public domain by Hoffenheim.
News of Joelinton’s availability could yet bring other clubs into the mix for the 22-year-old Brazilian.
Newcastle have a right to be a bit upset that this news has been verified by Hoffenheim even if they weren’t mentioned directly. The last thing we need right now is a bidding war for a player.
Although, it is hardly breaking news that Newcastle are interested in Joelinton. He has been steadily linked to Newcastle since the winter.
The price tag of around £36m also seems to be consistent with earlier reports though some had it at a bit higher. This would be a massive price to pay for the young striker, but this is the going rate for quality players these days.
There is also a lot of innuendo that Rafa Benitez did not really rate the player but that others at the club really did.
For all things Rafa, the best source is the Times’ George Caulkin who has been correct on almost all of his reporting about our former manager.
This is what George has tweeted about Joelinton.
The Joelinton one is interesting; they’ve been fixated on him. Offered him to Rafa, who liked him, but not at that price (viewed him as a £20m gamble), & wanted to spend elsewhere. Different now that Rondon/Perez have gone, obviously, but they’re hanging their hats on him.

It seems that Rafa did rate the young striker but was possibly perplexed as to how so much money was available all of a sudden. Rafa probably saw better use of the funds in other areas of the squad, like maybe fullback.
We still have to wonder if Ashley will sanction this amount for Joelinton. It seems like an out of character deal for him. Though if you consider the incoming fees for Ayoze Perez and Joselu, our net spend would still be just over £3m for the summer.
