Inside Futbol are reporting that Newcastle United are upset with Hoffenheim confirming that Joelinton was in talks with a Premier League club.
This is what the Hoffenheim Twitter account tweeted earlier today when news broke that Joelinton was not in the matchday squad for the friendly against Regensburg
Joe ist nicht da, er steht in konkreten Verhandlungen mit einem Premiere League Klub. Kann sein, dass er uns verlässt.
— TSG Hoffenheim (@tsghoffenheim) July 17, 2019
This tweet translates to:
He is in concrete negotiations with a Premier League club. It may be that he leaves us.
This is what Inside Futbol is reporting about Newcastle’s reaction to this confirmation by Hoffenheim.
However, it has been claimed that the Magpies are disappointed that their interest in Joelinton has been put into the public domain by Hoffenheim.
News of Joelinton’s availability could yet bring other clubs into the mix for the 22-year-old Brazilian.
Newcastle have a right to be a bit upset that this news has been verified by Hoffenheim even if they weren’t mentioned directly. The last thing we need right now is a bidding war for a player.
Although, it is hardly breaking news that Newcastle are interested in Joelinton. He has been steadily linked to Newcastle since the winter.
The price tag of around £36m also seems to be consistent with earlier reports though some had it at a bit higher. This would be a massive price to pay for the young striker, but this is the going rate for quality players these days.
There is also a lot of innuendo that Rafa Benitez did not really rate the player but that others at the club really did.
For all things Rafa, the best source is the Times’ George Caulkin who has been correct on almost all of his reporting about our former manager.
This is what George has tweeted about Joelinton.
The Joelinton one is interesting; they’ve been fixated on him. Offered him to Rafa, who liked him, but not at that price (viewed him as a £20m gamble), & wanted to spend elsewhere. Different now that Rondon/Perez have gone, obviously, but they’re hanging their hats on him.
— George Caulkin (@GeorgeCaulkin) July 17, 2019
It seems that Rafa did rate the young striker but was possibly perplexed as to how so much money was available all of a sudden. Rafa probably saw better use of the funds in other areas of the squad, like maybe fullback.
We still have to wonder if Ashley will sanction this amount for Joelinton. It seems like an out of character deal for him. Though if you consider the incoming fees for Ayoze Perez and Joselu, our net spend would still be just over £3m for the summer.

Comment #41Online – obviously Moanster is correct in that this type of behaviour is disgusting. Actions such as discussed should cease at the cemetery or burial ground gate.
I think grave desecration by peeing or having a dump on a grave gets you jail time.

Comment #42Online – jib has being posting some crap lately, real crap , and could do with having his gob stitched up.
But why waste a length of thread when a couple of nice shots , uppercut, couple of jabs would tighten his slack jaw nicely.

Given that we started with more of a second team in the 1st half I would say no. Wolves looked to be more prepared and up to speed with their seasons preparations and they had more of their 1st team out initially.
2nd half was more even with a lot of our yunguns playing although they bought a lot of there’s on as well.
On the overall showing they could be in for a good season and we are probably going to struggle, so no surprise there.

Comment #54EGB – that reminds me of a tale from a few years ago in a Northumberland town. Whilst I will not mention the reasons why I had occasion as part of my employment to be in a church graveyard during the evening/early morning hours.
In order to relieve the boredom I thought it would be a good idea to produce a few werewolf howls to the late night stragglers passing by.
The first few resulted in the passers by looking towards the churchyard and then making off at a fast speed whilst also checking behind themselves. It was very good entertainment.
The next to come along was a very tipsy bloke – the howl was produced – – the drunk stopped and looked toward the churchyard – and surprisingly shouted ” and yee can fu*k off as well ye f**king bastard.” and continued along as if nothing had happened. Still amuses me to this day.

Almost forget to say ..The spells and the Voodoo worked !
By about 7 Sunday night I read that Ashley lost 83 million pounds off the value of his sports direct shares . I stand to be corrected ..NY ? But did read it.
Maybe there’s something in traditional Pagan philosophy through the ages and that which folklore has bestowed upon us through the generations ?
Can’t discount its validity with an open mind.

To be honest looking back on what I saw it was what it was .
A first pre season blow out against a team 2 weeks ahead in fitness.
Other than the opening 5 mins i think we were second to everything.
muto was anon up front and was making some pointless runs
colback tried but showed why he spent last year in the champo and had zero understanding with Richie which is to be expected
Murphy ..maybe I missed it but not sure he touched the ball ..looked lost.
Weird thing is i didn’t feel anger at us losing like I used too it was more just sadness at seeing what most of us knew that the only chance these players had was under rafa and that it was him screaming and directing them that kept the shape and gave us a chance of at least sneaking games .
I think that maybe the worst factor.
And the announcement of a new coach just before the game knocked the wind out of me as it kinda does say forget about the glimmer of hope the takeover was some how still going along in the background.
As per last season we seemed to look a little better when ki came on for shelvey who had his usual cameo.
The worst part however was having Andy Townsend and even martin tyler (used to respect him) talking utter bollox about the goings on at nufc .
The only thing that kept the score down was the multitude of subs from wolves around 70 minutes as they gave everyone a run out knowing the game was done
Then at half/full time we were delighted to have Tim Sherwood and England’s Micheal Owen giving their own “special thoughts” on things Newcastle .
Only positive i took is that we have dibs, lobby and miggy to come back in (well at least we do)

Thanks for all the feedback on the game, sounds like a typical preseason runabout.
No doubt wor Stevie has parked his ample backside nicely into his first class seat and is on his way to Asia (although with charnley in charge it’s possibly only cattle class with an exit row seat)
Let’s see if Saturday brings any improvement…..

Comment #70Bruce ‘was the 11th choice’ for the Newcastle job and not even on their original shortlist. (Daily Mail)
Bruce can’t even take up the job due to the legal position with Wednesday.
He can’t go to China , not that it’s worth it
When the team come back the Managers office will be empty and Chumley will have converted it into his biscuit and coloured crayons store
The Head Coach will be living in the broom cupboard at Benton.
It’s like watching a lost episode of Crossroads where Benny has a dream that he’s become the Manager of a Premier League Football Club only to find that it’s true. Miss Diane is his boss and the hotel is owned by someone that goes around saying cuckoo.

Jul 18, 2019 at 6:18 AM
Comment #74Honestly cant see Bruce sacked ahead of a lot of those names .
Main reason? Charnley .We saw how inept he is at doing it with maclaren ,who stayed for maybe 5 prem games longer than he should have and so pretty much sealing our fate that year before rafa arrived .
from memory there was an international break so rather than cut him then he was allowed to take the players off for jolly’s (warm weather whatever…) first match back we got humped at Chelsea and at half time he admitted he made subs to just keep the score down and stated this like it was an achievement in the second half .still he wasn’t sacked.
So I think ol’ brucey will get all the time in the world to pull things around ……unless of cause the fans revolt and force the hand and either drive him out or they have no option.
OLG/GBC is def my favorite for the big hook first up.
