AC Milan Now Linked With Another Newcastle Defender

Calcio Mercato are reporting that AC Milan may look at Argentine central defender Federico Fernandez as a low cost option this summer.

AC Milan have certainly been linked with a slew of central defenders this summer. Earlier this month they were linked as having an interest in Fabian Schar which then turned into Schar being proposed to AC Milan.

They have also been linked with Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren, Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano, and Fiorentina’s German Pezzella. Pezella’s agent was even filmed at AC Milan’s headquarters last week but the report in Calcio Mercato says that Fiorentina are not interested in selling the Argentine.

Federico Fernandez– only signed a two year deal last summer

This is where Federico Fernandez and Valencia’s Victor Ruiz come in according to the new report in the Italian outlet. Both players are seen as cost efficient alternatives to the more expensive players mentioned above.

Both Fernandez and Ruiz are thirty years old and have only one year left on their contracts. According to the report, AC Milan see them as being available this summer due to their contracts running out next year.

If Newcastle are not going to extend Federico’s contract, it may be a good time to move him on. We have a plethora of centre-backs and he is probably fourth in the pecking order when all are fit.

Newcastle paid around £7m for him from Swansea last summer and may want to recoup at least a part of that fee rather than let him leave on a free next summer.

Here’s the code for the second year of our Ed Harrison Fantasy Football League. I’ll keep posting it over the next few days to give everyone who’s interested a chance to join.

    The code is:

Cheeky bar stewards thinking they’ll get one of our players on the cheap. Mike will ask at least ten million quid for him I reckon. Profits, profits, profits! Money, money, money!

Ashley would obviously be tempted to part with the players able to bring him the most money, so Schar would be tempting for him, especially with how cheaply we got him. We have got plenty of cover in central defence, so he’ll be thinking that Bruce will be fine if we sold our best CB. More money to add to the ‘transfer funds’ aka Mike’s back pocket.

Having lost Diame, and potentially Hayden too, I wonder if Saivet will come back into the picture. Bruce will surely want a good look at him once he gets back from the AFCON. Yet another money saving option. I was hoping he’d have a good display for Senegal so we could cash in on him and maybe even get our money back, but that seems unlikely now.

Let’s hope he scores a worldy today and wins the game for Senegal. Bang, straight in the Sports Direct shop window next to the cheap tennis rackets and ADEEDAZ four stripe trainers.

As OLG points out if we were Liverpool or even West Ham there would have already been a full scale revolt.
Just as the PR and Hierarchy of the club are expecting, after a few little wimpers of protest here and there, so called Geordie Steve Bruce speaks up as he was employed to do to calm the storm and pacify the masses and things return pretty much to normal before that outspoken and over ambitious Benitez chap arrived on the scene.

Saivet will be lucky to get back to SJP with his eyesight intact here. How many times has he had lasers pointed at his face tonight? There must be an amateur laser eye surgeon in the crowd. No, Saivet hasn’t got bad eyesight, he’s just crap at free kicks.

All this talk about Joelinton being a smokescreen’s worked – it’s buried the news about BZG acquiring 51% of NUFC.

Hey ho, that’s another faint hope bitten the dust. It looks like we’re stuck with Ashley until another round of takeover talks leaks in January.
