Newcastle Transfer Target Fails Medical At Benfica

Goal are reporting that Juventus goalkeeper’s pending move to Benfica for €15M has been delayed due to the severity of the shoulder injury he suffered in April.

Newcastle were linked with a move for Perin last week as possible competition for Martin Dubravka.

This is what is being reported in Goal:

Benfica have confirmed that they will not be completing the signing of Juventus goalkeeper Mattia Perin in the current transfer window due to a failed medical.

Perin, 26, had been set to join the Portuguese giants this week following a single season in Turin.

The two clubs agreed a fee worth a reported €15 million (£13.5m/$16.8m), with Perin himself describing the opportunity as an “exciting adventure”.

It seems that Perin’s injury will keep out for a further four months. Due to this Benfica have decided to delay the deal until the next transfer window.

This will be a disappointment for Mattia Perin as he is itching for an opportunity for first team football. He will now have to wait quite a while before that will be possible.

Newcastle will still need to look for a keeper to push Dubravka. The three goalkeeper now at the club that are behind the Slovakian all have only one year left on their contracts.

We hope that Freddie Woodman will sign a new deal and then go out on loan. While Karl Darlow can be a decent back up, we are not sure where his future lies. The club will want to cash in on him this summer if they are not going to give him a new deal.

“Newcastle will still need to look for a keeper to push Dubravka” Cant see that happening – having two class players for one position – unless he is a goal scoring, creative midfielder, shot stopper

We actually do need to sort the keeper situation out now. I’m not sure about Woodman, Darlow will probably leave and Elliot hasn’t really been in the picture for a while after that last serious injury. Unless Joelinton does a bit of keeping on the side?

Is Woody good enough to go in there if Dubravka gets injured? I’ve heard varying reports on that. It’s a pretty big risk for a club in a bit of a mess.

    Woodman 100%

Anyone know if Bruce brings young uns through. I can’t remember Bruce bringing anyone other than that mcmanaman thug who broke haidaras leg. I’m sure he’s the type to play colback above longstaff.

They never think any young player can cope until he plays nine games and is worth 50m and the most valued player in the team. Its time to try woodman, I’m sure he will shine.

    Here’s something I thought about earlier .

The Magpie Group needs you !

The turn outs at the protests are poor ..its not good to see those lads putting in a shift on your behalf . For anyone who does not go along to lend support , read on.

You are going to have to alter your routine ..family matters …club commitments , anything your doing will have to take a back seat and come second in your priorities ..put them to one side , no excuses .

If you care about Newcastle United you must attend ..go along ..be vociferous add weight to the protests, HELP ! It’s Your club .

Don’t expect others to go there in your place… You need to put everything to one side and attend.

Sitting here in support is no good ..no one sees you ..you don’t have a voice or a presence .

Newcastle United needs Your Support to rid the club of this parasite .

I speak independently here and not as a member of the Magpie Group.

And before anyone asks ..Yes I do.

NO EXCUSES FOR NOT ATTENDING .. PLEASE DONT LOOK FOR ONE .

If this was LIVERPOOL Ashley would be gone within a month .

    You can do this !

Well done to CARLTOON who , as a mature lady in her seventies attended the last protest also to Jail, Genjikia and a few others on the blog for attending.

If one of our Mature lady writers can get along I think all those that don’t need to make the effort.

The Time is now! NOW !

Why didn’t we sell Colback to Forest? I’m sure I recall them offering a selection of currant buns, jammy tarts, and week old scones….

Why is it we never sign players easily.
It’s always a delay for some reason, medical, permits etc.
Typical AshLie B.S.or KBA.in action maybe.

Would probably be a good signing if we needed a keeper, but the club would have to handle him right to avoid any recurring injuries. Probably won’t happen though, and I’d prefer if we put the money towards a new LB/RB/CF.

I think Bruce did have Maguire, Robertson and Clucas come through under him, at least in part, while at Hull. Robertson has spoken quite highly of him.

i’m interested in what you basing that assumption on, because what i’ve seen of him he’s still got a lot to learn especially to be taking the shirt of a struggling prem team !!

We never sign players easily because we approach each transfer as something we don’t actually want to do stan. We don’t actually want to pay anything at all. We don’t want to pay agents’ fees and the like. We think it sets a bad precedent actually paying for anything. So Charnely constantly whines and whinges during the entire process…

    Genjikia

Send a block message to the manager of each SD Shop to stage a co-coordinated walkout at a set time in protest at Ashleys zero hours and miserable working conditions.

The Sports Direct shops have the most miserable atmospheres in any store Iv ever visited
The staff seem depressed . Misery .

He cant sack them all .

Bad publicity will make him sweat and more so if he knows it comes from an idea by the Magpie group.

    Ps ; Don’t forget the handcuffs .

By Goalkeeping years Wooodman has a long career ahead of him. He is the same height as the rest of the goalkeepers we have on our books and would be a shame to lose him. He has time to mature and become our No1 if given the proper path and not held back to just be a No2 like Steve Harper was to Shay given

OK hibbit, I’m not 100% sure but I think he must already be a similar standard to darlow and any older keeper we find willing to be a number 2. Only difference is he will improve given a chance. We won’t know until we try him. Ideally I’d loan him to championship so he can get 40 games under his belt but I think he has one year left and will likely leave and I don’t know if he’s in demand despite doing very well on previous loans.
