Newcastle Much Improved And Lead West Ham 1-0 At The Half

Newcastle started off very well in what looked to be a 3-5-2 formation with Muto and Sorensen upfront. They seemed much more comfortable and controlled the midfield.

Having two strikers upfront with Ritchie and Sterry out wide worked very well as Newcastle had the best chances.

Jonjo Shelvey released Hayden down the right with a beautiful pass in the 8th minute. Hayden’s subsequent cross led to an excellent chance for Elias Sorensen who skied the ball over the net.

It was a disappointing miss for the youngster who should have done better with the chance.

The 25-minute mark brought another prescheduled water break but it was back to Newcastle controlling the game.

Yoshinori Muto got Newcastle on the board with an excellent finish in the 33rd minute. The delivery from Jamie Sterry was very good.

This was a lively display from the lads who looked much improved from the last match against Wolves.

    davo,

I’m sic k of saying I want Ashley out.

    But…

I won’t throw the towel in, stop supporting the team, slag Bruce off and hope we get relegated.

The reason why I get stick on here is because of the line above.

If that makes me the cretin, arsehole and the rest that I’ve been constantly called…

I’ve never been happier to be slagged off.

Should sign Abel Hernandez on a free as a backup striker and sell Dwight Gayle for £20m. Looks like were signing Joelinton and Mateta. Those three would be good enough going into the new season. We just need to sign Brahimi on a free and Savarino for £6m plus Aquah from Torino for £8m and another playmakers to complete the midfield. I’d sign another goalkeeper, 1 left back, 1 right back and a centre back to replace Lascelles. Sell Lascelles for £30m and move on.

Agree with bill on some points

I’ll support the team albeit away from home only
Don’t really care about Bruce although I won’t be cheering him (it was him or someone else equally poor )
    Things won’t change under Ashley
    I support the boycott

I don’t get what people are arguing about here. Yes we played well in the 1st half and we are winning. That is great.

But does that guarantee we are going to finish between 7th and 13th this year? NO

Is the likelihood of us NOT finishing between 7th and 13th this year much greater because we have sold our top 2 goalscorers and replaced a high class manager (whether you don’t like his style or not – it is measured on results and achievements) with a championship level manager? YES

Is it justifiable for Wolves – a team whose stadium is over 20,000 less than us and who came back to the premier league last year – to net spend over £100m and finish 7th – instead of us doing that? NO

So who is to blame for all of this? Ashley – and the only way to get him out is to have an empty stadium – if that results in relegation then so be it – Wolves played a season more in the championship and look where they are now.

So any positive talk from anyone here will just prolong Ashley’s existing ownership – and presumably NOBODY here wants that.

    davo,

I don’i post to deliberately wind people up.

I post to express my opinions and, I suppose, not to let this blog be almost totally dominated by the NUFC
doomsters, slaggers and PR shill believers.

I also won’t allow my views to be twisted and falsified to suit the agendas of those who just want to find any reason to pile more bile on me.

    Simple as.

    Good win.

Some decent displays. Lascelles, the other defenders, Colback, Shelvey, even Murphy. Muto too.
