Report – Newcastle Will Look To Bring Back Familiar Face To Newcastle

According to the Daily Mail, James Tavernier is a transfer target for Newcastle United.

The 27-year-old right-back left Newcastle for Wigan in 2014 and is now the captain at Rangers in Scotland. He has certainly blossomed into an excellent right-back in Scotland.

The Newcastle youth academy product had an outstanding campaign last season. He scored 17 goals with 20 assists in all competitions for Steven Gerrard’s side.

Overall he has made 198 appearances for Rangers and became their captain towards the end of 2018.

James Tavernier– the younger version

Steven Gerrard is not going to want to lose his captain who still has three years remaining on his which he signed this past September.

While the Scottish Premier League is far from being a top league at the moment, 17 goals and 20 assists is an impressive return no matter where you play.

Though being twenty-seven, he may be slightly over the age that Newcastle are willing to bring in. Especially if he will command a substantial fee.

We think James would be an upgrade at right-back, and for a reasonable fee would be an excellent signing.

He made just ten first-team appearances for Newcastle prior to leaving five years ago.

    Mund/Our Toon

If we were relegated and DID NOT come back up at the first time of asking – I truly believe the financial losses would be so severe that Ashley would sell up.

In fact – I think the boycott, protests, relegation and not coming straight back up is the ONLY way Ashley will sell.

Knocking the ball about – having boring transfer windows and finishing 15th/16th season in season out – with protests outside Sports Direct will NOT make Ashley leave. What would be his incentive to leave from that situation?

We need to suffer in the short term – to end up like Wolves in the long term. I didn’t think we did before – I thought he would sell but after this summer I now believe he has ZERO intention of selling whilst it remains a profitable situation for him.

Do you forget how bad Colback was in the season that we were relegated?

He gives away cheap fouls needlessly in dangerous free kick areas. He is too weak on the ball. His passing is not of a high level and he does not have great attacking abilities.

He harries and scraps like a bad scott parker.

Football has moved on. You have teams all the way down to 14th/15th – spending £20m+ on central midfielders with real quality.

So how you think he should even be on the bench – I have no idea.

Where does Colback rank alongside Tiote/Cabaye/Shelvey/Hayden when they were all in their peak form?

If you want him on the bench – then fine – but accept us as 16th/17th or bottom 3 this upcoming season.

Toon22 I never once thought you were crazy but I’m honestly starting to think you have a screw loose. You just repeate the same thing over and over hour after hour, day after day, week after week, month after month. You dont even normally engage you just spout out your usual lines over and over.

You’re honestly starting to look crazy, why do you do it, because it’s really not bothering people anymore and it must be so much effort to constantly keep it up. Because you surely have a life outside of this blog even though sometimes it’s hard to believe it.

Like I’m not having a go and Idc if you dont answer but i said I’d ask, why like?

I dont believe he would sell even if we did get relegated and didnt come back up at the first asking. With Rafa he didnt have to put his hand in his pocket as much as say if Pardew or Mclaren was in charge, thats because Rafa is a world class manager/coach, the perfect tactician and i would easily say best in the league. With having this edge he turned it around and we came back up first time of asking and survived 2 years in the premier league without much being spent on the overall accounts. I think now Ashley is back to his preferred way of running the club with having a coach, basically a yes man. If times got tough by January i do believe he will spend just to try and survive like he has in the past to turn things round. The questions i want answered is the talk of Rafa been offered the chance to break the transfer record even before Almiron but he didnt want the players that were offered he would argue it could be spent better elsewere. Even the rumours he wasnt keen on Joelinton. Makes me think what kind of team could we have now if Rafa give the nod to sign these rumoured players the club wanted to sign.

Irish Rob, read what I wrote. Two opinions. Nowhere do I say it won’t work, I pass an opinion, based in scientific factors – Well, precedents – and say ‘I don’t think it will work’.
Know why I say I don’t think it will work? Because I don’t think it will. Its an opinion, one I’m entitled to have and one backed with what’s happened at other clubs.
The point is the bile aimed at anybody who doesn’t share an opinion. People have different opinions, thats all.

The acknowledgment that Ashley did not give Rafa the ability to spend good sums of money on players that he (Rafa) wanted when he was the best tactician in the Premier League is exactly why he should not be owning our club.

I am sorry to repeat but I want to know HOW is it justifiable for Wolves who have a 30k capacity stadium and never finished in the top 5 in the last 20 years and who was in the Championship 2 years ago when we were in the Premier League – to come up spend £100m+ and finish 7th and overtake us

Tom…. it’s not acid he needs though. He badly needs a sedative like a barbiturate or minimum a high dose Benzodiazepine. Maybe a sprinkle of a nice antipsychotic like Olanzapine. Failing that I suggest a nice lobotomy. (Which incidentally are still carried out to this day)

Sadly Imo if we go down hes even less likely to sell as the club would be worth less and he has shown he would gamble to get back up. Typically they dont sell when value is low. Perhaps if we went down and stayed down but I think best chance might be a season or two flirting with relegation. That way he might take his wedge and walk. Mid table is no risk to him and greedy get wants that profit

Irish Rob. What makes it different from tours? Three clubs. Blackpool, Coventry and Blackburn. All three clubs where fans boycotted to try to get rid of the owner. None worked, owners remained and the clubs were badly hurt.
Now these are FACTS mate. As there’s no clubs where it has worked, I can’t use a precedent in support of that argument, can I?
Of course, if you know different, please, lay it out.
I’m not even saying either one is right or wrong, I’m just saying people have different opinions. Just bear in mind, yours might not be right. That’s all. You don’t change anybody mind by calling them names.

Mate i am totally with you on the fact the leech shouldnt be anywhere near this football club, i despise the man. The way i hate this man is on another level im a chilled guy but Ashley boils my p!ss nobody winds me up like that man. Ill do whatever i can to support all ideas to remove the leech from our club but in the meantime theres a team to support and ill do this from afar.

I have never owned a season ticket but since i was a kid and walked up the steps to look out on our famous pitch ive been desperate to have one. Especially me being from Middlesbrough i had to wait till i was older, get a job make some money and treat myself. I have a good job i dont do bad at all and could of had a season ticket say from the last 10 year since being based closer to home. The one reason i havent is because i will not fund that man, i will not put my hard earned money into his pocket and it kills me because i want to take my family, i want my children to experience what i did that day when i first felt the euphoric buzz of st james park. I have a son who is 5 loves football and it would be my ultimate dream to have a season ticket for me and the bairn, i want this so bad it kills me, but untill that man is gone i will hold back my dream because i know one day he will be gone and i can have them unforgetable moments with my kids.

It was interesting seeing so many Newcastle players over the two games, some for the first time and some I’m sure for the last time.

Those that played today that are almost guaranteed to start in the first team are likely to be:

    Dubravka (unless sold, hopefully not)
Schaar, Lascelles and Fernandez (unless sold, hopefully not)
Longstaff (Sean), Hayden, Shelvey and Ritchie.

Those who didn’t play today but are almost certain to join them include:
Almiron, ANO Centre Forward, Dummitt, Lejeune

Of the rest I have my doubts about:
Gayle, Ki, Atsu, Yedlin, Manquill, Muto

    Those waiting for the bus:
    Murphy, Aarons, Lazaar, Colback, Clark

Those who came from the reserves are likely to remain in the reserves.

I think we will see a different Murphy next year. He is a big confidence player and you saw through the starts he did have he had none. Ive always thought he had talent and i was frustrated Rafa couldnt get the best out of him. He has pace to burn and has a bit of trickery, if we can bring that out of him he could be an effective player next year.
